Website description:

The world was watching in 1972 as 11 Israeli athletes were murdered at the Munich Olympics. This is the story of what happened next.

Inspired by real events, Munich reveals the intense story of the secret Israeli squad assigned to track down and assassinate the 11 Palestinians believed to have planned the 1972 Munich massacre of 11 Israeli athletes - and the personal toll this mission of revenge takes on the team and the man who led it. Hailed as "tremendously exciting" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone), Steven Spielbergs explosive suspense thriller garnered five Academy Award nominations,* including Best Picture and Best Director.

    🍿
needs an update for 2024 events

    • Not really, it's exactly the same paradigm as today: Israeli state security's irrational, disproportionate overreactions to any threats, real or imagined. It's been their M.O. since day one.

Even the film makes the conclusion at the end that the people involved in Operation Wrath of God were no better than the alleged terrorists they were hunting, because by the end of their sordid state-sponsored vendetta they had murdered more people (and innocent, completely unconnected individuals) than Black September had at the Munich Massacre.

Edit: Wow, the Hasbara brigade is keeping busy on OzBargain.

What qualifies you to make such conclusions describing security fears as irrational? With people like you out there…

You were happy when they killed Jews now, and you'd have been happy when they killed the Jews then.

Thanks for making massive assumptions regarding my beliefs on the basis of absolutely sweet FA, genius.

I didn't direct Munich in case you needed that clarified, it was actually Steven Spielberg funnily enough, who despite being Jewish still has enough nuance and prescience to understand that indiscriminate killings with a flagrant disregard for collateral damage/international law are legally, morally, ethically and politically indefensible.

Go watch the film instead of slinging ad hominems around because your primitive, backwards tribal sensibilities have been offended.

Offended by ad hominems and “the Hasbara brigade”?

That’s some serious act of contortionism…

    Phenomenal film!

    • I agree it was a good movie. bit long. but still good.
tells the story of the bad guys entering olympic village and unaliving the athletes there from a certain country. I read about that somewhere but the rest of the story I didn't know so it keeps you hooked.

and Eric Bana is a bonus. also maybe because it's spielberg who is famous for scifi it gets skipped a lot. they say his best stuff is scifi so some people might think oh it's not a good movie.

I see this movie was released in 2005. Which is, coincidentally, the last time Sanity was relevant.

    • Certainly much inSanity now in 2024

  • It was a very different time then, before the Islamists took over the terror game.

  • can watch on Netflix and Stan subs for those who aren't interested in discs.
