Seems like a pretty good deal for the iconic John Williams score on vinyl.

Composed by John Williams, the score for Raiders of the Lost Ark was the only score in the series performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, the same orchestra that performed the scores for the Star Wars saga. The score is most notable for it's inclusion of the iconic and now ubiquitous 'Raiders March,' which came to symbolize Indiana Jones and was later used in the scores for all subsequent films. Raiders of the Lost Ark received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Score in 1981.

Stupidly, I left my original copy out on the footpath with 80 other albums about 20 years ago. (People were fighting over them!)

  • Ba ba ba baaaaaa, ba ba baaaa. Ba ba baa baaaaa ba ba baa baa skreeech…

    • 🙂 But I think of it as da-da-dadataaaa etc.

J Williams extremely overrated. He is not a Ennio Morricone.

    • Jurassic park, star wars, bit different but I think he and Zimmerman make some pretty sweet soundtracks.

On a different note the Dexter soundtrack is very well recorded, not on many streaming platforms.

Looking into Ennio Morricone, some pretty old soundtrack a, not sure the mastering would be that good back then.

        Zimmerman?

        • Hans Zimmer, the man.

What a bizarre take. John Williams has written more than 100 scores over 70 years and most of them are absolutely iconic and praised by critics and audiences alike; if anyone lives up to the hype, he is that guy.

  • This is the 2008 Concord Records expanded soundtrack release. It's a wonderful album and is only missing a small amount of music from the film, but there are pitch issues due to a bad transfer of the analogue tapes (see Jason LeBlanc's posts in this thread for the details). Frankly it will sound fine to most people, but it's not the definitive presentation of the soundtrack one might hope for.
