Manually Transfer Points to Velocity from Select Partners in Both November & December, Get 10% Bonus @ Velocity Frequent Flyer

280

Been checking for transfer bonus from Citi, this one has been reduced from 15/20% to 10% unfortunately. Minimum points transfer requirements vary with partners.

Manually transfer your credit card reward points from the below Participating Partners to Velocity this November and December - transfer in both months and earn 10% bonus Points on the total amount you transfer.

Terms and Conditions:

Velocity members will receive 10% bonus Velocity Points when they manually transfer eligible points from Participating Partners to Velocity into Velocity Points at least once each calendar month, for two consecutive months, between 1 November 2024 and 31 December 2024 (“Promotion Period”). Minimum points transfer required, transferred in each transaction. Velocity members must initiate a points transfer in each of the two calendar months to meet the offer requirements.

“Participating Partners” are: Australian American Express Card Members enrolled in the Membership Rewards program (this offer excludes American Express New Zealand Card Members), ANZ Rewards, ANZ Business Rewards, Westpac Altitude Rewards, NAB Rewards, Citi Rewards, HSBC (Platinum and Premier credit card holders), Card Services Rewards, Suncorp Bank Credit Card Rewards (Platinum and Business credit card holders only), BOQ Q Rewards (Platinum credit card holders only), St.George Amplify Rewards, BankSA Amplify Rewards, Bank of Melbourne Amplify Rewards and CommBank Awards.

ANZ Rewards, ANZ Business Rewards, Westpac Altitude Rewards, NAB Rewards, St.George Amplify Rewards, BankSA Amplify Rewards and Bank of Melbourne Amplify Rewards points transferred to Velocity via auto-redemption or auto-sweep programs are not eligible to receive the bonus Velocity Points under this offer. A Velocity Member can transfer multiple times each calendar month of the Promotion Period.

Bonus Points will be allocated to the member’s Velocity account by 31 January 2025.

It may be better to transfer to Flybuys then auto-transfer into Velocity, instead of directly to Velocity, see this comment https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/874304#comment-15881038

    wow.

they must not need the revenue that much from the buying of points.

  • +5

    Only 10% and a devaluation… cmon Velocity

  • +4

What a fking joke. Where’s the god damned 30% Citi bonus ffs

  • +2

Bonus Points will be allocated to the member’s Velocity account by 31 January 2024. ??

    • Looks like Velocity used an old copy in their T&Cs somewhere, updated

      • +1

        copy paste 20%

  • +2

I dont know if this is the new norm.
But I think I'll hold out from transferring this time around. Don't need the points and don't feel 10% is really worth it. But this might be the new definition of "bonus" from now onwards

  • +1

Not really worth it anymore. Just will convert Citi points to gift cards now, seems the best way!

    • My quick calcs show there is still an advantage in Virgin points unless I'm missing something…

E.g. my 160,000 Citi points gets me ~$750 of Amazon Gift cards via Citi rewards. If I transfer to Virgin with the 10% bonus I end up with ~88,000 Virgin points which is at least $880 if sold.

      • +1

I only have the Citi rewards card so 2.5 reward points per 1 velocity.

        • Ahh yep yep makes sense. I am still bummed that my first crack at Citi rewards has the lowest November transfer bonus offered.

      • +2

        Giftcards = no risk
        Selling Points = risk

        • Also true.

  • This would be a good time for my NAB reward points to hit.

  • Oof, 10% and takes 2 months.

  • +1

Yeah forget this, been holding out for ages for something better - 15% maybe I would have but not 10 - no way. Lift your game velocity, can't get Qatar involved and devalue… I'd rather transfer elsewhere / wait for better promotion

  • Agree with others, pretty poor bonus. Been holding out on transferring my Amplify points, but this will have to do as I am keen to churn out.

If only KrisFlyer had came through with some bonuses, losing faith in Virgin Australia with subpar international rewards flight availability from Melbourne.

  • If I wanna convert to Krisflyer, is it better to convert to Velocity with the 10% and then to Krisflyer?

    • No. Better to transfer direct. For example, I have a Citi Prestige, which actually has a better 2:1 conversion to Velocity.

100 Citi Prestige Reward points = 50 Velocity Points or 40 KrisFlyer miles.

You will pay 1.55 Velocity points for 1 KrisFlyer mile, so if you convert to Velocity first, you'll end up with ~32 KrisFlyer miles.

      • Same question, but for St George (Amplify Points)??

        • Same answer

          • +1

            @heytherehoney: 100 amplify = 33.33 krisflyer

            100 amplify = 55 velocity (with 10%) = 35.48 krisflyer (1:55 to 1)

I think velocity first with 10%, then to krisflyer wins?

  • On the fence whether to partake in this or not…

For those who have Citi Premier/Prestige card, it should be possible to get 15% bonus if you transfer via Flybuys using this deal instead - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/874836
It would only be beneficial for cards with a 1:1 transfer ratio to Flybuys

    1. Transfer reward points 1:1 Citi Rewards to Flybuys
    2. Enable Flybuys auto-transfer to Velocity (2:1 Flybuy to Velocity)

For 300k Citi reward points, this works out to be an extra 7.5k velocity points (165k vs 172.5k)

    • How bout if you just have Citi Rewards card? Can you use the same process?

      • +1

Not worth it for that card as it has 1.33:1 transfer rate to flybuys, vs velocity has 2.5:1 rate

        1/1.33 * 1/2 * 1.15 = 0.4323 velocity pts per citi reward pt
        1/2.5 * 1.1 = 0.44 velocity pts per citi reward pt

        • Thank you

    • Thanks mate.

Does anyone know how long it generally takes to transfer Citi points to Flybuys? Website says may take up to 28 days, wondering if that's just a very conservative buffer.

      • I initiated my transfer on Thursday and received the points the next day, so not too long.

  • Do both transfers need to be with the same partner? Or can I transfer AMEX in Nov then Amplify in Dec to qualify?

    • +2

      Nope

Can I Manually Transfer from different Participating Partners during the Promotion Period?
Yes, if you manually transfer from one of the Participating Partners in November, you can choose to transfer from this partner again, or from a different Participating Partner in December.

  • Thanks. Just transfered points from my citi to velocity. Will also do it in Dec and then close off my citi prestige card in Jan.

  • +1

So I can move the bare minimum now (for flexibility), then a heap in December if I chose.

Also suggests I can move the minimum on just one card for now. Then do all the others in December.

Bonus will be applied on the total?

  • Made my December transfer this morning. It shows on Velocity as 01/12/2024, so yesterday. I'm glad I did it today.
Time to see how long the points actually take to come.

    • Why are you glad you did it? Deal is still live…

I did my transfer yesterday so be interesting to see how long bonus takes.

      • Because it reported as sending it a day earlier. Had I sent it on the 1st Dec, it might have said I actually sent it on the 30th Nov and then it wouldnt have been eligible.

        • Because it reported as sending it a day earlier.

Weird cos I had the exact glitch with my ANZ transfer this past weekend too. Did it on Sunday the 1st but showed up in my Velocity account on Monday dated the 30th for some inexplicable reason. Thought maybe it'd update later but still hasn't changed by now.

But according to @peekamoo's comment above it should even work if you do the transfers across different partners across the two months which is my case.

          • @vawiyoci: Yeah it should be fine I guess

            • @theguyrules: Yeah not too worried cos worst case I still also have the ANZ confirmation email anyway showing it was made on the 1st not the 30th.
