It's hard to see black Friday being any cheaper than this.

I pulled the trigger on jbhifi at 1085 for the 65, wish I waited a few hours and saw this deal

It's a nice tv. Remote is a bit cheap but good enough for what we need

    • Agree, even if prices come down at Black Friday, they’re unlikely to go below this. I pulled the trigger on the 50” at HN Preston yesterday, they had 2 in stock. Mate who works in the warehouse looked it up and saw $10 profit on my sale through the extended product care, while the TV is sold at cost. 2 days ago I saw it at HN Moorabbin marked price of $875.

The Box fit across my sedan back row and TV was just heavy enough to wall mount by myself. I wanted a TV with android/googleOS as Kodi app is a must for me and TCL and Sony are the only ones that tick that box. I’m also very pleased with the picture setting adjustment options - I’ve got it all set perfectly for my room.

The only annoyance for me is that the side that the power cable and the inputs are on are reversed from my 8 year old dead Sony. So the cable management now needs work.

    • How is the picture quality?

      • +11

Surprisingly good. Needs slight tweaking, but now that it’s set up it’s really good for me. Stuff I’ve noticed:

Excellent colour reproduction. I’ve set it to movie, and colour to -4 (warm).

I’ve set Motion smoothing to off. It still does really good judder handling on 24fps sources without turning it into soap opera effect. (Samsara 2011)

I've Set HDR brightness to 100, and black level to 55. Contrast at 99. Specular highlights in DoVi/HDR really pop now in the Barbie movie and in The Mandalorian. Blacks are inky black - the Black Stormtroopers vs Luke Skywalker lightsaber fight scene looks spectacular.

For SDR I’ve set black level at 55 and brightness at 55. Very balanced now in all scenes.

I’ve set Local dimming to low. Otherwise the overall brightness is dimmer when set to high. Even then it has excellent shadow detail in The Batman.

Cons: slight dirty screen effect in corners. With noise reduction in low, the Disney+ logo startup animation looks a little low resolution.

        • Thanks, so a step below Samsung, LG, Sony, but it would be much better value?

          • @congo: Yup. The alternative for me was to go 55” Bravia 7 at $2396. I was eyeing the eBay seconds deal for xr55x90l that came down to $1046.55 but seconds is always a hit and miss.

So this defo is a win at $701 ($797 for the TCL 55”).

Repeat 10 times so you don't forget: the Bonus Gift Card will expire 1 month from the date of issue.

    • I thought gift cards had to be minimum 3 years now?

      • +1

Seems to mostly be the case for gift cards purchased with real money, with a long list of exceptions otherwise. Such as when "given as a bonus in connection with a purchase of a good or service for use in the same business": https://consumer.gov.au/new-gift-card-laws

      • A gift card you buy, maybe. This is a promo gift card.

What are the differences between C755 and C855? Seems like C855 is much more premium.

    • +1

      855 has more dimming zones.

      • Is that worth another $500? I just read the specs and there's not much difference, it's also another 100W power usage

        • Each to their own, some people mostly care about dimming zones/blooming.

          • @Tbargain12: Tbf I'd be upgrading from a ~10+ yr old SONIQ bred. Id prefer the C855.

        • +3

Yeah it more than double the dimming zone and higher peak brightness. Add better contrast and deeper colours The 500 dollar will go a long way if you are planning to keep it for 10 years.

        • C855 will have more detailed HDR as far as I know

    • It's also thinner

    • I would definitely get the c855 98 over the c755 if the difference is $500. More like 2k+ 😅

      • Comparison was C755 vs C855 for a 75 inch

      • 2k is nothing if keeping it for more than 8 years. You get a better improvement. Sometimes cheaper doesn’t mean better. We are talking only 15 dollar extra per month.

  • Bought 55" from Appliances Online for $924 several days ago as it was a pretty low price relatively. Managed to get a refund of the price difference with this offer from their customer support yesterday. Great TV overall, haven't properly watched a high quality movie on it, but picture quality is great so far, just need to adjust the motion clarity settings etc.

  • 92kg? Isn't that too heavy?

    • +1

Too heavy for whom? Lasha Talakhadze?

      • +1

        light weight

        • These days poor Ronnie couldn't lift the TV.

    • +1

      'do you lift bro'

  • Hectic deal brother

Anyone been able to get this price matched at jb?

    • I had no luck with JB chat or phone, but no trouble price matching at TGG.

  • +1

Price matched C855 with TGG including that 10% off

  • JB got the tv price down to $1760 for me which was close enough so I pulled the pin. Another 400 or so in delivery/install/hardware. Pretty happy with that

  • +2

Good guys priced matched over the phone - 75" C755 for $1293 + delivery. Reviews seem solid at this price point, looking forward to it.

    • Extra $400 would have given C855, reason you did not get that?

      • +1

$400 extra is stretching the budget too far for me. The 755 seems more than adequate for my needs.

  • 98" omg

  • This or an OLED C4 on black friday.. .. .

  • +3

Phwoar just got the deal in time. Got into a fight with the Mrs last night and she launched something small at the tv and broke it.

Can't review the TV until it's delivered, however a mini review of my last 24hrs is below.

    Negatives:
    —- Fight sucked
    -Tired at work today
-Need to spend $ to buy new bedroom TV

    Positives:
    +Fight seems to be over
++Get to buy a better TV
+++Decent ozbargain deals on a TV I've been checking out for a while

    That's +6 vs -5.. overall I'm up +1, win.

    • +4

perfect opportunity to upgrade TV if you ask me
"did you really just spend $4k for a 98inch TV??"
"well if you didn't break it.."

  • It's so anoying. I'd been trying to make a payment for the past half hour, but the system kept saying an error processing my payment

  • How you will recieve the credit, I purchased without logging in

    • i got the gift card in an email 1 day after buying the tv

    • I was logged in but no mention anywhere of GC yet. Got msg in the morning that 98C855 put on backorder. I'm in WA so not surprising. Maybe once order progresses to shipped GC will be processed?

      • I’m also in WA. Got my back order email on the 27th of Oct but nothing on the GC yet.

        • I believe it's only issued when shipped, so if you have scheduled delivery or awaiting backorder stock it won't come through yet
