My last purchase at HN was in 2016. This 10% back in gift cards will not make me buy anything there, when other retailer's gift cards can be bought for about 10% off and there is no immediate need to spend them right away.

    • They had the 10% gift card a month back. I used to to buy an induction stove which was very useful.

I also used it to buy Airpods.

    Awesome 1st post! :)

    • Thanks :)

Just bought the new pixel pro 9 256gb on their $69 a month plan and it counted to this promo. Ended up getting $186 or something like that. Essentially it offset the cost of the $150 upgrade from 128gb to 256gb. Perfect timing!

    • I think you should've gotten the JB Hifi deal, to me this is the best deal at the moment for Pixel Pro 256GB (less than $1000 outright for the 256GB):

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/873058

Edit: maybe you could cancel your current plan and pay out the termination fee (I don't know your provider or termination cap) and that would make your deal very worthwhile.

      • Nah the $69 works well for me low cost that is subsidized by my employer. But I can respect the JB deal especially for cancellation

        • In that case well done! A great phone with an amazingly cheap mobile plan :)

      • The JB plans you're locked into contracts with termination fees. At least at Optus it's a month to month plan and you only pay the device costs if you want to cancel.

        • HN’s Optus plan also has cancellation fee, if you check the other post. (4 x $69) + $690 is the amount.

    • Which store did U go to?

      • Oxley qld

        • Cheers! Did you need to mention anything? The guys at wiley park said it didn't apply so I'm wondering if its only corporate stores.

          • @thanq: No store manager said that the $69 is the only postpaid plan that applies to this promo. Could may have been a discretionary thing. Might be worth checking with another store to see who's right and wrong

Beware that your bonus gift card only lasts 1 month… bit scummy just like The Good Guys.

Also a heads up, they will reject price matching because it doesn't stack for their gift card promotion.

    • +1

I have never had an issue price matching with the gift card promotion

There's an easy work around for the 1 month expiry that i'm not sure it will still work. You just need spend your GC on anything, then refund it. You'd get a new GC with 3 years expiry date.

      • Harvey Norman doesn't do change of mind returns

        • It’s worked for me in the past even some products that I’ve opened

          • @idk12: It must depend on the franchise then.

Online doesn't accept change of mind returns and my local HN has a sign saying they will not accept them.

            • @spaceflight: Yeah it probably is then, coz I’ve had no problems at all

It should really be called "Store Credit". Calling it a gift card is ambiguous. People might think you can use it somewhere else. Also aren't gift cards supposed to have a minimum of three years before they expire?

Good first post, as much as I dislike Harvey.

Calling it a gift card is ambiguous.

Gift cards only used to work at one store, that's what a gift card is.

People might think you can use it somewhere else.

Then they can be disappointed that their "Harvey Norman gift card" doesn't work at Coles.

Also aren't gift cards supposed to have a minimum of three years before they expire?

      Yes when you buy them.
It's being given as a promotion gift so that doesn't apply.

Only bit of advice I can give is make sure they actually give you the gift card. I spent $800 when they ran a similar promotion last year, so was expecting a $80 gift card. Wasn’t quite sure if it would be a physical card or just an extra barcode on the receipt. Didn’t get handed anything extra when I paid so assumed it was on the receipt. Got halfway to the carpark before realising it wasn't. So had to go back in and ask for it. Wouldn’t be surprised if others didn’t get their gift cards that day.

  • It's fairly easy to get HN gift cards with a 3-4% discount elsewhere ATM. Just wondering if using these gift cards at checkout would still qualify for the Bonus 10% in Gift Cards offer. :)

    • +2

They did in store for us yesterday

  • How does this work if you pre-order something? Does the 1 month clock start ticking from the order or from when you get the item?

    • Chat said you get the gift card after receiving the item. I used this for a PS5 Pro order. There's no special offers for this console, but at least this way I get a little bit of something back.

    • They issue the gift card when you pay in full.

So if you want something in April time you can pay for it today and get the gift card today, or pay for it at a later date to get the gift card.

You could still pay in full January to get the gift card and keep the delivery scheduled for April.

      • so we can use this to lock in promo prices? how do you check out without paying?

        • You do it in store and pay a deposit

anyone ordered click+collect? how quickly does the gift card arrive? is it digital or when you pickup?

    • +1

I ordered click and collect and it arrived via email after I collected my item from the store.

      • ah cheers thx

  • How does it work for an example, if I want to order iPad mini 2024 128gb cellular, which is currently order in upon payment, and if the stock arrived few days later for click and collect, will they issue the gift card after I collect it or after I paid for full amount tonight?

  • With an "excludes" list that long I'm surprised that Apple isn't in the list.

  • Can I buy something >$250 with the gift card and get another 10% gift card on that item? 😏

  • Phuck Gerry

  • Just purchased the 16 Pro Max and will use the gift card for the new Airpods. Awesome find OP. Thanks
