The 98” C855 is $5117, plus 10% gift card. That takes it close to the ATL of the C845 98”. I think I’ll pull the trigger on that.

    • +2

Wow that's good. However, a 98 inch screen is 25% bigger in area than 85 inch. It's quite a lot more expensive per unit area than the 85 inch. Next time I buy I will get a 98" though. Hopefully my 85" will last 10+ years and by then 98" micro leds will be cheap enough.

      • +1

you might not be alive till then who knows what could happen, YOLO do itttt

        • 98 inch.. thats half a wall. Enormous. You must have plenty of free space in a huge room.

  • If wall mounting I suggest buying something like this. You could make your purchase and then use the gift cards to pay for most of this. I managed to talk them down to $228 for this over the phone.

Note many cheaper mounts won't work with this TV due to its unusual VESA pattern.

    • +1

Can get that sort of thing for $50-100 elsewhere surely?

    • +1

I have ordered the 85”. Can u please elaborate a bit more about the unusual VESA pattern. Never read about it anywhere. Thanks in advance 👍

      • +1

It's a 600x500 vesa pattern. I should have mentioned that I wanted a tilting one and preferred a longer warranty - mine has 10 years. I find it also affords a bit more space to access cables behind the tv than a fixed one would, it's still tight behind there though.

Many more options if you only want a fixed mount.

I was going to buy this but then read the review about problems with 500mm vertical vesa spacing. I emailed the retailer and they said it wasn't suitable. False advertising! I suggested to them they update their website. That was months ago and they still haven't.

    • I have the Aidoru 50-100" TV Mount VESA 800x600 for $120. I got for my 85C855 but changed my mind about articulating mount and went with fixed mount.

Thanks OP, Cancelled my Good Guys order for the 75" as it hadn't shipped yet and ordered from here.

  • Goal was to eventually upgrade my C9 65 OLED to a 77" OLED but now thinking a 85 or 98" LCD would be better. ahh man the idea of moving away from OLED doesnt make me feel good but the cost difference is huge.

    • im the same. once you go OLED its weird going back, but damn this price is good.

  • Just ordered but no mention of delivery and gift card yet. Has anybody gotten their giftcards yet?

    • +1

Got a phone call for delivery on Monday but nothing about the gift card yet

    • +1

Bit different to you - I paid in store but have the gift card.

  • does HN do installation for TV mounts?

    • +1

I believe they do contract out the work to a third party provider

  • +1

bonkers deal, best TV <5k imo, the next step up is the Bravia 9 for 5-6k during black friday

black level / contrast, non existent blooming, 2-3k brightness, and No burn in, makes this vastly superior to OLEDs for mixed usage (day/night viewing, gaming, movies, etc)

  • +5

You can ask JB hifi to match HN price and then use JB Perks to deduct further 20% bringing price down to $2045.6

You may also try to get additional 10% discount to match HN GC offer but this is always going to be the Manager's discretion.

See my comment re: how to do it

      Thanks mate! Worked for me.

    • Just talk to jb on live chat, was told the 20% can not be applied on pricematch item. 🥲

      • +3

I just applied it on the price match link they sent me, worked for me.

        • Yeah I tried via online chat and phone. Both offers they applied the perks discount so can't add any voucher..bummer. may try in store in the morning. There is also very limited stock now.

    • +1

Sly as a fox. This is the true ozbargainers way. Kudos to you!

Personally I can't be bothered getting a refund from HN now.

From the comments below it looks like there are more misses than hits with this too. Perhaps a mole from JB Hi-fi perused these comments ; )

      • +1

Thanks mate haha, it seems others arent having any luck so maybe stick with the HN one.

        • Post receipt

          • @HitlersDad: Not much point now id say, everyone else who has tried seems to be getting the 20% perks already applied when being sent the link to purchase.

    • +1

I contacted JB live chat and the 20% code didnt work with the price match link (won match 10% GC) as most ppl said. I didn't expect the store price match will work either , but willing to see if 10% GC can be matched. To my surprise, it actually worked (Adelaide) and went down to $2045.6😆+ $59 shipping. Paid most of the amount with Ultimate GC from last Sep (15% off). One year planning actually paid off today. Thanks for the info! I think it all depends on your location. It worked here.

Snagged one. Thanks for the share!

Good guys is doing price match including cashback comes around 2,301.30

    • Hi mate, can you share the receipt/invoice?

      • How to share?

        • U will need to load it to imgur and share the link. Feel free to ignore my request if it will be too much of trouble for you

    • Who was the cashback through?

      • Harvey Norman Gift card

I bought this TV a few months ago. Couldn't be happier with it, picture quality is astounding and i've paired it with a Samsung Q990D soundbar and at nightime the experience is super immersive. I've just ordered the 98 Inch version (A good excuse to give the parents the smaller one so i can take the bigger one)

    • +1

Whats the distance between the legs? Not mentioned anywhere. Need to make sure it'll fit on my 160cm tv stand

  • +2

Just paid $2100 delivered from JB hi fi

    • I would do so, btw where are you getting that price?

      • Jb hi fi price match, and 20% off perks.

        • I'm guessing you got this deal in store? Would you mind sharing the receipt or PM me?

          • +1

@Uncleroger: Nope, rang the store and asked for the price match link to my phone and then put in the 20% code.

            • +3

@Shanetrain: mate yo got lucky, tried 2 different and all they did was send me a link with the perks code pre applied.

              • @Uncleroger: My experiences same. They just applied the 20% off code as being "price matched" to HN price before GC

                • @nico8amy: So was able to price match online, but the coupon is not working. Saying 92UUxxxxxxxSG: Coupon doesn't exist.

                • @nico8amy: Same they are wise to it now

              • @Uncleroger: Jackpot haha! Im afraid they will try cancel the order on me, can they do that?

                • @Shanetrain: I don't think so.

                  • @Uncleroger: Hope not, i was wanting to push back delivery for a bit but nervous they might try pull some loophole and cancel it.

    • C655 vs C855 - completely different model

    • That's c655, different model

      • +1

        Oops, my bad

  • Has the price of the 98 been jacked up???

    • What was the price before?

      • Actually I realized I was looking at the C755 :(

Huge jump in cost from 85 to 98! double the price for 25% more TV.

        • Yep everything past 75inch has pretty big jumps in price. Will probably take a few more years for 85inch to come down in price.
65inch seems like the sweet spot

        • Yeah but what a glorious 25% is would be haha

  • Wondering we can use gift cards to pay? Bupa has 3% off and I'll need to use 5 x 500 for the payment.

    • +1

      Yes you can

    • +1

You can, I paid with gift cards purchased from Bupa

The Chinese achieved world domination with electric cars (and lots of dirty tactics on the lithium front), the next frontier is TV. They're gonna dominate the Korean and Japanese… soon.

    • This tv model is a great example. How many products do we already have in our homes that are made in China?

      • -1

That's the thing, the Communist demands that international corporations must hand over certain company trade secrets to benefit from their cheap supply chain. China has been reverse engineering, copying and improvising on others inventions for decades.

They're now taking massive market shares away from those companies. This is the price for doing business with the devil…

        • What's that make us?

  • What happens if the price drops further before delivery do HN refund the difference or let you cancel?

    • I price matched appliances online $2752 on Friday. I got a call from the HN guy I bought it from Sat morning saying the price had changed. He said he remembered the sale from the day before and called me to honour the lower price! Hence this post.

If you ordered online you would probably have to call them. I doubt it will go much lower than this, even BF sales next month.

      • What's the wait time?

        • +1

They had 2 units in stock at the store I called. No wait time but being delivered to regional TAS on 30/10

      • Note that I was going to go in store to pay before he called me on Sat. He said that if I had paid on the Friday he wouldn't have been able to change the price. Something to do with the gift cards I think.

        • Same thing happened with me, but I called them, they refunded the difference and gave me the gift card. I bought it on Monday and only set it up last night.

  • Tv is on backorder. I placed an order and then got the delayed email. Called the store and they said they're out of stock VIC wide and will be a 2 week delay. Did anyone have better luck with JB hi-fi?

    • Very limited stock more on order think they said December!

  • +1

Yes, I managed get it down to $2160 + $59 Delivery at JB. They have stock at Melbourne Warehouse (Derrimut/Werribee). Delivery anytime after Monday.
The deal was $2700 plus 20% perk off (-$540) so TV = $2160.
I called and then walked into the store after.

Hope this help. Good luck people

    • +3

Share the receipt through imgur if you can.

        • Yeah might have missed my chance but I might settle on the Harvey Norman price with the gift card.
Few hours left to decide haha

  • +1

Bought this TV on Monday for $2900 from Harvey Norman, they beat the Costco price by $50. Installed it last night and was searching this morning for the calibration settings. First ad that popped up on google was this deal. Spoke to Harvey Norman and they honoured the deal. Gave me a refund of the deal and the 10% gift card. Awesome TV, deep blacks and upscaling also is very good. Now need to find some good calibration settings.

    • Let me know how you go with finding good calibration settings! Picked one up as well.

From another post (I haven't tried all this but agree that Movie preset is best). @CrazyTachikoma thanks for this!:

@Crowing: Sure. For any source - video/netflix/PC/consoles - use the Movie preset, ignore all other presets.

Of course this will change for every panel, but in my case for SDR:
      - brightness set to 6 for 120 nits for night viewing
      - brightness set to 16 for 160 nits for daily viewing (quick access button to change +10 -10 quickly)
      - contrast at 90
      - black level at 54
      - local dimming at Low
      - Gamma to 3 (results in a 2.3 gamma curve, a compromise I like between PC 2.2 and video 2.4)
      - Color temperature -5 (default for Movie mode)
      - Tint / color saturation at 50, default
      - all dynamic / enhancements disable, same for Intelligent sound/video and any Eco setting
      - sharpness to 0 (anything above is a filter)
      - Anti judder / Anti blur set to 3 (gets disabled at 120 hz)

      For HDR:
      - brightness and contrast at 100%
      - local dimming at High
      - Gamma 4 (HDR 2.4 Gamma)
      - tone map disable
      - For Dolby Vision, choose Dark preset.

For PC/consoles, set it to 120hz so there's NO lag. I'd only use Game Mode if you want VRR, but since I play on my HTPC I leave it on Movie all the time. 120 Hz will disable de judder and anti blur, so if using a PC, set your video player to change the screen refresh to 60 Hz while playing the video, so you can have those 2 options set to 3.

Awesome! Have screenshot all this to give it a try eventually. Thanks!

Scored the 85 inch for $2045 and a 65 inch for $1404 at jb hi-fi. Didn't even have to try hard.

    • Haha got lucky like me! Everyone else seems to be not having much luck. Must need to just get the right person i guess. What made you grab the 85 and 65?

      • +1

Yep, super stoked since I paid full with the gift cards which I bought for a 12% discount.

        • Even better! Wish i had the gift cards to but i was at work trying to panic buy it.

      • We are currently building a house and have to start from the scratch for everything. So 65 for the living and 85 for the media room.

        • Oh yep makes sense! My house is just about to be finished. I am moving in start of December roughly, i will have to delay delivery of my tv until then though unfortunately.

          • @Shanetrain: Hey, That's exactly what I have done. Delayed till 6th of December with an option to push back if needed. Good luck with your house.

            • @jaiballayya: Haha small world! Did they say if they will still have the tv in stock around that date? Thanks mate, you too!

              • +1

@Shanetrain: Thanks mate, Actually didn't think of it. I am also not too concerned if we have to wait for the stock for couple weeks.

                • +1

@jaiballayya: Yea i thought the same, i will need to focus on the main parts of the house before i start splurging on the theatre room haha.
I did see someone say they would be getting some more stock in December anyhow.

            • @jaiballayya: Just went into JB and spoke to someone and he said to just leave no delivery date and to contact them when i needed it delivered in December.
Only issue is he seemed to think if they ran out of stock or discontinued it they wouldn't be able to fulfill the order. Makes me worried there wont be any to deliver in 5 weeks time!

              • @Shanetrain: oh no, my understanding was that they put this sold stock aside for a later delivery and no new orders will be taken once the stock runs out.

Once sold - their system should automatically deduct number of available items and show as Out of Stock for new orders -JB technically have them but they are scheduled for a later delivery. Sorry, couldn't think of better way to put it.

Saying that, what are you thinking of doing? I don't want to miss out on this crazy price, haha neither have space to get them delivered to my current place. Any ideas?

                • @jaiballayya: I thought the same!
I could have it delivered to my current place but wanted to avoid having to then transport it to my new place. Although it will be in its box and be hopefully protected on the inside.
I may call them again tomorrow to speak to someone different and clarify a few things and see what they say.

                  • +1

@Shanetrain: Cheers, please let me know. I don't many options to get it delivered unfortunately. I might just have to take the risk then.

                    • +1

@jaiballayya: Just spoke to JB again and they said for me to leave it as no delivery date and i was guranteed the tv, just possibly not straight away when i ring end of November to book in delivery for early December.

                      • @Shanetrain: Cheers, I spoke to the store I bought it from as well. They confirmed that I got the stock allocated and wont be any issues due to stock not being available when delivery time comes.
