Was the same price about a week or two ago during the Prime Day sales.

    • I only saw it last week for $449 so this is good and I bought one :)

      • +2

If you search ozbargain… You will find way cheaper prices on v8… So 399 is not a ideal price :)

        • +4

Yes but they are either expired or different model/accessories

          • +2

@RoseJJ: And this is the entry level one with an ATL of $349 and a recent low of $359. They're spot on: check price history.

    • This shows as $347 at TGG. Am I missing something?

      • +1

        Further reduction after my comment.

    • the one OP post has an extra hair screw tool

  • +5

This looks like the V8 Origin Extra version (linked in comment above) which contains a couple of extra attachments compared to the base model. Upvoted for putting the effort into your first post! Welcome to the Ozbargain community.

Edit: Just checked out your profile and you've been here way longer than I have XD

  • Yep has the hair screw tool or mini motor head, not sure how useful maybe good for stairs

50% off the additional 100% markup

  • Can anyone compare with the ryobi one+ brushless vacuum at Bunnings for $460?

    • One key difference is this has an in-built battery, while the Ryobi uses the swappables. Can't provide much more insight myself.

Much cheaper, similar capabilities, better reviews?! https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0D5499BFN/ref=sspa_dk_detail_4…

    • Any constructive elaboration on why this would not be a viable alternative?

      • +3

I can't comment on the product itself, but I'd be sceptical about these no-name Chinese products with 5 star reviews. Fakespot gives it an adjusted rating of 1½ stars.

        • Thanks, good to know!

You can't clean the inside of the main filter (the cylindrical metal one) of these Dyson vacuums (and others like the V10) because there are electronics in there and you can't detach them.

An enormous amount of dust (dust mites) builds up inside them, and every time you vacuum it fills your house with microscopic dust and dust mites (and dust mite droppings), some of which are small enough to get through the hepa filter and just float around in the air after vacuuming. If the vacuum is a few years old, there will be so much rotting dust mite and dust mite droppings that it will emit a kind of animal smell in the air when you vacuum.

The other day I spent 20 minutes banging this part of my uncle's Dyson with a hammer to try to knock some of the dust out. It filled the sink 20 times with dust, and even after banging for 20 minutes, there was obviously still dust in there, because it still gave off a smell when we used it, and there were still small bits of dust coming out when I banged it.

    Completely flawed design.

The filters on my $200 Xiaomi vacuum can be detached completely, and washed with water, which means there is zero dust left in the machine. I do it every time after vacuuming the house.

I use a skewer to clear the dust bin

Thanks for sharing, my allergies wouldn't be able to handle this Dyson. Which Xiaomi do you use?

    • If the vacuum is a few years old, you will need to fully disassemble it to clean the inside. My V6 was giving off that bad smell like what you described. I followed some Youtube videos, did a full tear down and cleaned all the cyclone parts under running water. It was disgusting inside, 20 minutes of banging won't be able to clean it.

Your uncle needs a bigger sink if you were able to fill the sink 20 times over.

      • Was just the entire bottom of the sink each time. I had to keep flushing it out otherwise might have blocked the drain.

In the market for a new cordless vacuum on a fairly tight budget of <$300. Any recommendations please?

    • I have tried Xiaomi dreame vacuum which is light and i like what you have said that you can clean inside and most cheap vacuum stick can all be cleaned. The only downside which I come back to Dyson is that the cheap ones I tried all of them go stuck with hair really hard to pull out.I have long hair and that's why i chose dyson over other cheaper one. This is really the only issue. I wish there are cheaper ones out there that does not have issues with hair got stuck on the roller.

  • Ive had 2 of these fail with trigger issues - I wouldn't ever get the "hold trigger to run" type again, only button press style.

  • Does this include the carpet and hard floor attachment?

    • +1

Nope, you need to buy the absolute for that to be included

  • +1

FYI, there are decent quality attachments on Temu / AliExpress for a fraction of the price. Makes buying a base model more appealing.

  • +1

Wow thank you for posting this! Great Deal :)

  • Another deal here

  • As mentioned in a similar thread, the difference between the various V8 models is the tools you get with them….this is the most basic Dyson.
