I think the deal is to cancel the plan, then you'd just need to pay the remainder for the device repayment. Not too sure though.
Not sure why you are down voted for the same assumption I've made. Can anyone confirm it's a deal if you cancel the plan?

Its actually a great deal if you're already on a Optus plan but not worth joining for it.

But this plan only work for 1 year, and this phone have minimum of 24 months. So no deal gg
Optus is pretty flexible. You could easily get $15 off per month for the life of the plan.
I've been with Optus long-term so evidently not everyone will be able to get this, but I get a loyalty discount of $30 on my mobile plan (180gb, unlimited calls etc) and $20 on NBN (50/20) so if you are an Optus customer it would be worth asking for a loyalty discount and this would be a great deal for them! Just my $0.02 for posting

Very nice on the NBN. I was on $60 a month for 50 from years ago but they've since increased it 3 times in the space of a year lol

I've been with Optus for a long time 20 years mobile and 15 years internet. The only thing I get is them removing my $20 bundle discount after they moved me to a different plan and me having to waste time on the phone with them. They only gave me back the discount for 12 months after telling them I'll change providers and being put through to retentions.
They offer 50% discount on mobile plan for 12 months if you’ve already had a service with them.

Via live chat. Just talked to them about the 5G internet (I signed up with the $200 Topcashback deal). And then they offered me 50% discount on mobile plan (the $52 and $62 deal).
We got offered a 20% discount over the full 36 months, so $37/month for 50gb/m (including the 8a)
Not bad, but they have that 50gb/m plan on 25% discount now.

FYI $7.50 p/m for 24 months or $5 p/m for 36 is the repayment, lowest plan you can choose is $52 per month for the duration of that.
52x24=1248. Plus 180 makes 1428.
Unless you can slap this onto a much cheaper existing plan, it's an expensive ass phone.
