Don’t bother, battery life is sh*t

    • I thought it's only case with pixel 1

      • I have the WiFi model and it is fine.

does it work with an iphone?

    • I've never had any issues, I just give it a quick top up each night. I took mine of the charger at 8pm last night and it's got 73% at the moment.

I had seen the " up to 24 hours battery life " and thought, that's not a good start

    • +14

That was a typo in the press release. They meant minutes.

      • Hahaha

    • +1

Less than a day? They've got to be joking, right? No thanks.

My PW1 has never lasted less than a day, always almost 2 days. I just charge it at the same time I charge my phone, I've never understood why people find charging your watch daily to be a big deal.

I have the WiFi version and it last me on average a day and half. I charge it before I shower and put it back on before I go to bed. 24 hours later it still has around 40% battery left before I put it back on charge before a shower.

Wow that's painful. I had a Casio which only needed battery every few years. :)

        I had a sundial once never needed a battery….

        • Me too. Didn't have to take it off before a shower either.

        • -3

No need. Just look outside the window. :) or maybe don't bother looking at your phone or watch for 12 hours.

Same no issues here. Would recommend even if you don't need LTE at this price.

  • Is this still Telstra only and you need to have a mobile plan too?

    • +2

There is work around to side load esim via QR code. Not sure if it still works as it needs old apk

  • Does anyone know if the WiFi only model has better battery life? I'm looking for an activity tracker/running watch and don't really need LTE coverage, but I have a pixel phone and it's meant to blend pretty seamlessly. I wouldn't even be wearing it most of the day.

It's the same if you don't enabled lte, this will have a better resale value.

I have the wifi model, use it daily (except when sleeping), lasts about 1.5days with a full charge
I use it to track run, cycle etc

just get a garmin and get week long battery life

  • Wear os watch with battery less than 500mah is no go

  • In my experience battery life is decent on the wifi model, but beware the screen scratches way more easily than it should, and can't be replaced.

    • Have owned PW1-3. Whacked it a few times and no problems here. Now I have a bumper to uglify it up and offer extra protection.

    • I have PW 2 wifi, no issue with scratches for daily and rough wear (hiking, crammed public transport)

I moved away from galaxy watch to Amazfit Balance, battery life matters a lot to me and Balance is superb. Can go upto 10 days on a single charge. Otherwise I had almost stopped wearing my galaxy watch, every day charging was a pain.

    • My watch 5 goes for 3-5 days with BT only. Don't do constant tracking tho.

Favourite watch with the longest battery life amongst all the ones I have.

  • Has this bloke got google pay? I want a wrist thing to do dollarsbucks where I don't have to get my phone out etc.

  • I did get vaguely excited as I thought this was current gen. Forgot the pixel watch 3 was already released

  • Damn, would've jumped on this if not for the battery life…

Still rocking my Huawei GT2 which has an astonishingly good battery life. Like 2 weeks plus good.

  • Did they change much in the Pixel 3 watch?

  • Battery Is OK but not great. Last me 24 hours though and full settings on. Such as sleep readings and everything. Charging takes half hour or so to full.
One downfall is the screen. Very easy to scratch because of the rounded edges and no protection. Not bad for this price.

  • Google/Fitbit have just announced they're killing Google Assistant functionality in the Sense and Versa 3 lines. I would be wary about buying older Google stuff at the moment as they're obviously trying to transition some stuff. (I'd be wary buying Google stuff at the best of times anyway!)

    • Yep that’s why I cancelled my wife’s sense 2 order. Worried about the older tech and google.

  • I'm thinking of buying this for my Year 4 child so I can track his location from my phone. Is this possible with an app like FamilyLink?

  • Link doesn't work

But few variations are still in stock it seems
