NetGear Nighthawk A8000 Wi-Fi 6E AXE3000 USB 3.0 Wireless Adapter $89 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) + Surcharge @ Scorptec

180

On special from $149 original price. 1% surcharge for card & PayPal payments. I use this to price beat at officeworks so came to a total of $84.55

I've upgraded my internet to G.fast syncing around 600Mbps as per the technician but my Intel AX200 Wifi6 can only pull 250Mbps. I bought this dongle and now I can pull 400Mbps

These are perfect to pair with these machines here

  • Is there a AP driver for this model? Thinking of running pfsense with a cheap machine and this for wireless AP

    • What's your ISP/plan?

    • The USB vid/pid for this adapter appears to be supported in mt76, but I suspect that it wouldn't run in master mode with more than one band active at a time. (If it worked at all, that is.)

  • +1

Imo this is not a great deal, there are better specced units for less money. Wavlink sell an ax5400 version for about $50 on AliExpress / Amazon

Otherwise this is basically the same https://www.umart.com.au/product/tp-link-ax3000-high-gain-wi…

    • So many cheap USB adaptors on AliExpress, wavelink the best cheap brand to consider?

    • The form factor and appearance on that AX5400 one is a bit obnoxious.

It should be a little better in throughput, assuming that you're running 160mhz width on your access point.

    • Does it support 6GHz?

    • The Wavlink ax5400 looks good, but I can't find on Amazon. Do you have a link?

  • I'm assuming this would be one level below pcie Wireless in terms of speed and reliability?

I'm currently on the cheap USB wifi adapter so looking to upgrade soon.

  • Not a deal - if you want a USB WiFi 7 adaptor then buy this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007582615965.html for $44 shipped - half the price.
It's the same BE6500 as the Fenvi units.

    • Yeh not practical for me as it takes 2-3 weeks to deliver

      • This is the downside of Ali ☹️

  • It is not worth it, specially since op mentioned PC bargain, USB adapters are a last resource, buy PCI-e boards instead.

I installed an Intel AX Killer WiFi6 card on my gaming laptop to replace the terrible MediaTek one, I could play Microsoft xCloud on it just fine for hours over the wireless.

  • How'd you get it so cheap, Officeworks want to charge me $25 ontop for Scoptec's delivery fee.

    • +1

Do you have scorptec store in your area? If you don't then OW will add delivery fee on top.

I have scorptec store 20ins drive from the OW i matched from

      • Thanks for the info, I don't have Scoptec within driving distance and $110 isn't worth the purchase unfortunately. It might be worth me looking at the PCI cards instead, ordering will take longer but I can temporarily connect the computer to another to share it's connection while I fix the Cat6 cable running through the walls.
