Paid 69 in 2023 and thought it was a nice price, I can recommend it. It’s churned out many a ham cheese jaffle so far

    Original 74 Jaffle Maker

"It's not truly a jaffle unless the edges are sealed" then proceeds to show the edges unsealed. The problem with jaffle makers these days is they're all too large to seal the shrunken loaves of today. Back when I was a kid all the edges were sealed properly and impossible task today unless they change the size of the hot plates.

  • Awesome 🤩

  • Wtf is a jaffle?

    • +2

Toasted sandwich filled with those lollies from the movies that are chocolate in a red hard shell, great for throwing at the back of peoples head (the lolly not the sandwich)

      • JAF_ A S

      • +1

Oh look at Richy Rich Bleeder here able to waste $8 worth of jaffas by throwing them at their personal movie theatre staff!

  • Includes delivery?

  • So we can reproduce that MKR waffle

  • +2

A Jaffle maker shouldn't cost any more than $15. RRP of $139 is just out the world crazy. Classic example of Australians being ripped off for decades by the greedy corporates and MNC's 4.

  • +2

    The bots will nab these…

  • +5

Funny how there are already 161 upvotes and 7000 clicks but only 100 items available. Feels like a competition not a deal. Perhaps Breville could be a bit more generous as it isn’t a small family business and they are definitely not losing a lot of money selling it for $20.

    • Yeah it's amazing how it got so many upvotes so quick for only 100 items at $20 + shipping and it's the same shitty design as the $10 Kmart ones

      • +3

Not one of the Kmart ones has the same design
        https://www.kmart.com.au/category/home-and-living/sandwich-m…

        • Look at the two cheapest models, got the same internals. Line in the middle, precut sandwich barriers (because cutting bread is so hard lol) which limit usability.

          • +2

@pennypincher98: That just standard jaffle layout. But I prefer this silver design

            • @capslock janitor: Much prefer the flat press. It's easier to clean, doesn't need specific size and shape bread, can multifunction and cook other things etc.

There's a reason this isn't the $7 option at Kmart lol.

Personally I'd rather get one that if you want jaffles, put in the attachment for jaffles - try to limit the amount of [Insert Food] makers I have.

          • +1

            @pennypincher98:

Look at the two cheapest models, got the same internals.

I can't see any photos which show you the internal parts of the machine.

Line in the middle, precut sandwich barriers

That's because they are a jaffle maker.

The Kmart ones aren't the same design though.

            • @spaceflight: Same internals. The outside is not where the cooking happens lol - besides, the $100 handle is an unnecessary protrusion.

It's a pain having to clean something with so many nooks and crannies that only fits one particular size and shape of bread, plus having to fit in a highly specific food maker when an alternative clearly exists.

Sadly a losing battle with companies and consumerism, people will buy any food maker they see…

          • -1

@pennypincher98: Ridiculous comparison to make. Like saying that a $5000 car and a $100000 car are the same because they both have an engine and four wheels.

            • -2

@Mike Nolan: If you actually read my comment, my issue was with the design - a $100000 car with the $5000 car shit design is still a shit design. That doesn't go away just because you paid more lol.

Do you have different cars for when you are going to different places? Out to dinner car, pick up kids car, go to shops car - where this one has more seats, this one has more boot space, this one has nice paint. Or would you rather have one that can do it all?

The consumerism is strong with this one 🤣

    12pm in which timezone?

    • +1

"Kicking off at 12pm and ending at 1pm AEDT on Friday, October 25"

  • What is the postage cost? Can't see it as says free over $49 but will be under that.

    • +1

      $11.

  • Cost $99 to get it from amazon.

  • -1

I've had one for the past 7+ years and it's built very much like the OG, worth the price! IMHO

  • The worst one I ever bought was a piece of garbage from Aldi with "large bread size". Problem is nobody including Aldi sold bread that was big enough to seal around the edges. I went to colesworth, bakeries etc Only option would be slicing a whole loaf sideways or some nonsense.

    I returned that POS.

  • +1

9000 clicks and 100 units. May the odds be ever in your favour.

Ozbargain still has better odds than Ozlotto

Jaffle makers have been replaced by sandwich press which is so much more versatile and doesn’t push the fillings out.

    Do people not know this?

    • +8

Well people don't seem to know a sandwich press and a jaffle maker are for making two different things, so I guess nothing should surprise me.

Would I use this for a toasted ham and cheese sandwich? No, I would use a sandwich press.

Would I use a sandwich press for a curry chicken sandwich or mince and potato sandwich? No, I would use a jaffle maker.

Just because they both end up toasting bread doesn't mean they're the same.

It's like complaining in a dining cutlery set deal that the knife in the deal, that you use on the table, doesn't slice tomatoes during prep as good as a serrated Victorinox knife. I mean they both cut right?

There are some absolutely shocking takes in this thread and this is right up there with them.

Breville invented the the jaffle maker back in 1974

    Lol https://www.taste.com.au/taste-test-kitchen/articles/jaffle/…

    • +5

      Lol

Breville then released the first electric jaffle maker in 1974

      • Comprehension isn't their strong suit.

      • So they didn't invent the jaffle maker - happy we cleared that up.

That is pretty easy to comprehend.

        • The link you shared says Breville did invent the first electric jaffle maker in 1974.

          • @spaceflight: Yes, but Dr Earnest Smithers beat them by 25 years.

And I was certainly eating jaffles well before 1974.

            • @jackspratt: With a jaffle iron, not an electric jaffle maker.

              • @spaceflight: A jaffle iron that made jaffles.

Have another read of the OP - I am not disputing that Breville invented the first electric jaffle maker, but they certainly didn't invent the jaffle maker.

Or can we say that Tesla invented the passenger automobile?

                I'll leave it there.

                • +2

@jackspratt: Jaffle iron, thing that you put over a fire, does not get hot by itself

Jaffle maker, electric appliance that gets hot by itself.

Both make jaffles but a jaffle iron is not a jaffle maker

                  • +1

                    @spaceflight:

Jaffle maker, electric appliance that gets hot by itself.

                    Without even plugging it in?

                  • @spaceflight:

does not get hot by itself

Both need a source of caloric energy to "cook" the jaffle.

Breville improved modified the jaffle iron making it electric, but the "making" of jaffles go back to 1949.

(I deleted "improved" as without electricity it will not work. Whilst the other one could use many different heat sources. Hence not "improved", just different.)

    thanks op

    • Imagine not using ublockO and privacy badger lol

  • ITS ACTUALLY FREE POSTAGE AS WELL, what a deal if fulfilled.

my order actually went through,i reckon they got more than 100 units, their paypal integration got nuked tho, had to go through CC

    • True, paypal failed and I was sh**ing bricks, went through the second time though.

    • Never use PayPal for drops - takes too long to log into PayPal etc. Best case to have CC details pre-saved or quick add.
