Yea will be sub-$2k for Black Friday most likely. HODL
Planning to get the 85" version of the C855, hopefully can get it around this price during BF sale.
Will be getting a TCL soundbar as well along with the TV.
Do they work well together and remain in sync?
Have a Samsung setup (older than 4 years) and they keep loosing sync between each other and need to be rebooted to get back in sync.
Hoping the newer tech wont have this annoying issue.
HODL-ing for sub $3k for 85"
They heard ya!
What is the TCL picture quality like compared to Samsung, Sony, LG ?
This is just my eyeball review seeing them at JB:
TCL picture quality and colour is excellent, however the glass on the screen is highly reflective, which I found really distracting. Essentially whenever the demo video went to majority black, all I could notice was my reflection and the lighting in the store, it almost looked like a mirror.
I don't think I've come across a screen (including touch screen devices) that was as reflective as what I saw in store. So if you don't like that kind of finish or look (I know matte screens are very in vogue at the moment), then TCLs may not be for you. Otherwise I thought the picture quality was excellent, especially given the price.
Sure you saw the C855? These things stand out due to how much brighter they are than everything else in store.
What brand / model would not have such reflective screen? What options even exist with matt screen that are not Samsung Frame?
What I compared it to in store (knowing they are different price points) were the:
- LG C4
- Samsung S90D
- Sony X90L
All of them had some level of reflection, but all had a much more matte finish than the TCL. It's like comparing laptops/screens that are touch screens vs non-touch screens.
Samsung Frame was a whole other tier of matte finish.
The TV location I had in mind has a lot of sunlight + downlights in the evening, so I figured I'd get similar results as in store.
I got the 75" C845 as an upgrade from an old Sony UHD and the image quality is still impressing me after 6 months of use. I can't complain about anything, but I agree with the reflection problem if you watch tv during the day. I'd expect the C855 to be better in all aspects.
Thanks, good to hear that the TCL image quality is comparable to Sony UHD.
Do you think it would be much of a drop in quality compared to Sony OLED?
I just purchased a TCL 75” C855. I currently have a 65” LG C1 OLED that I’m going to be replacing it with. I would have loved an LG G4 but can’t justify the price, have been reading about the C855 for months. Once I get it set up I’ll let you know if I notice a difference.
@yopossum12: Thanks !!!
@congo: Have set up the TV and currently fiddling with settings. First impressions are pretty solid, the contrast is seriously impressive and I haven’t noticed any blooming at all. I’ll have to try again in a pitch black room. Brightness is great and colours are pretty good, feel OLED might have a slight edge on colours than the TCL.
@yopossum12: How come you're replacing an oled with a tcl??
@Mdjz76: Price per inch and brightness.
I want a bigger and brighter tv but can’t justify the cost of going to an LG 77” G4.
The brightness of my C1 is pretty abysmal, night scenes in movies are hard to see unless the room is pitch black.
I got the 75” C855 for $2k. The G4 is currently $7200 (I know it goes on sale but still a massive price difference).
@yopossum12: Good feedback thanks. I'm looking to replace my 10year old Sony. Wrecking my brain whether to go 77/83inch OLED which is crazy expensive or TCL C855 85"…
Hows this compare to last years C845?
Moderate back light and processor upgrade according to AVForums. At full price on first release, they were recommending buy the discounted C845. Now they will be close on price on sale, C855 would be a no brainer.
Hodl for a 98C855 for under 4k…. Am I asking for too much? Lol
I have had a 75c855 for about 2 months… It was a hard choice because I always said I wanted an OLED next…. Its an incredible buy for the price. MICRO LED is a game changer.
The screen is INKY black and the contrast/brightness is so high I have it set for 50% otherwise it burns my eyeballs out. I am sure it will get better when I calibrate it with my EYE1 when I can find it.
Yes it is a bit reflective but I find it OK…
Remote is a bit cheap, but fine…It is responsive to the USB drive and the Chrome smart interface works quite quickly…. Would I buy it again? Definitely….
EYE1? Can you tell me more?
Its a calibration tool i use to use to calibrate my photo editing monitor… its made by X rite specifically to calibrate displays…

Yikes $429
Just purchased a 75" C855 from JB with a price match to Costco however they did add on $59 for delivery (saying that the Costco membership of $65 is required to buy at the Costco price). Weirdly, although they have a current catalog the shelf price was marked at several hundred higher than the catalog with a "Hot Price" ticket over the shelf price tag. I imagine they'd match the 755 models as well as Costco have a great price on these as well.
With JB Perks today the price has now just dropped to $1,916.80 delivery not included. JB has a 14 day price promise on TVs so you may be able to get this money back
Sub $2k here we come?
