Just started at 8am, $5 bonus cashback on top of the existing 6% Ampol are doing currently.

Receive $5 bonus Cashback from ShopBack when you spend $100 or more in one or across multiple transactions on AmpolCash Gift Cards via the gift card portal in the ShopBack app using an eligible Westpac card ($100 or more must be charged to your card to qualify) between 8.00am and 11.59pm AEST on 16th October 2024 (unless the offer is modified, extended or terminated prior).

Gift Card purchases made using Apple Pay may take up to 14 days to be tracked. For best experience, pay using a card that is linked directly to your ShopBack account instead.

  How easy to use the gift card at EG Ampol? I remember using Wish gift card there and it requires me to hand pin in all the gift card number on POS machine instead of just scanning the barcode, which is a pain in the ass..

    They scan the barcode for these.

    My local EG Ampol (used to be Woolworths Petrol) also scan the barcodes for wish gift cards nowadays, no more entering the numbers manually.

    My local won’t scan so have to enter the card # and expiry manually. However another location I go to they do scan.

    If the staff member has been correctly trained, it is very easy to redeem them.

    I have redeemed AmpolCash Digital gift cards at multiple EG Ampol service stations this year, and what is supposed to happen is for me to ask to pay via AmpolCash Digital, show the QR code for the gift card, have the attendant scan it, confirm the amount to redeem from the gift card, then press Enter on the EFTPOS terminal without entering any numbers when asked for a PIN.

    However, there was one occasion when a relatively new staff member must have chosen the wrong payment option on the checkout, because when they scanned the QR code, the EFTPOS terminal asked me to manually enter the AmpolCash Digital gift card number. Another staff member saw the issue and told the new staff member to select QR on the checkout instead.

      I have bought several and been told they don't work.

      I haven't found a way to check the balance of the cards I have either.

      Has anyone found a way to do a balance check?

        It updates immediately in Shopback app.

        Have two cards left with value. One shows 2.03 and the other 76.23

          Note the balance is also printed on the receipt.

        The last time I filled up at EG Ampol (and claimed two fuel discount offers), the service station attendant initially refused to let me redeem an AmpolCash physical gift card. When I showed them it was an AmpolCash gift card (not an AmpolCard charge card) and pointed out that the terms and conditions of the fuel discount offers only excluded AmpolCard (and then showed the Ampol webpage showing that AmpolCash and AmpolCard are two different types of cards), the attendant backed down, and my AmpolCash physical gift card worked.

        There was also one weird problem a while ago where AmpolCash gift cards were being declined by the EFTPOS terminal if you scanned an Everyday Rewards card and an RACV card in the same transaction. The RACV terms and conditions only say that AmpolCard is excluded, so I am not sure why the EFTPOS terminal would reject AmpolCash in that scenario.

    Yes, EG Ampol started accepting AmpolCash Digital gift cards in February 2024.

    You can only redeem them in-store though. You cannot redeem them through the Pay At Pump feature on the EG Club app.

  The only hassle with these is you would need to keep the receipts to know the card balance. There is no other way to check balance.

    At Ampol locations, if you do not know the balance, you can try it in store anyway and if it declines it will print out a receipt, check the receipt and it will have printed out the remaining balance

    You can only redeem AmpolCash Digital gift cards in-store at Ampol Foodary, EG Ampol and other participating Ampol service stations. The Ampol store locator on the Ampol website will show you which service stations accept them.

    You cannot use an AmpolCash Digital gift card on any fuel payment app (e.g. FuelPay on the Ampol app, EG Club app) nor at any automated fuel dispensers.

    Some independently-operated Ampol service stations (e.g. Bennett’s Petroleum in TAS) also will not allow you to use AmpolCash Digital gift cards as a payment method if you are also redeeming a fuel discount offer.
