      cannot recommend this comment enough

Never thought i'd see a subwoofer for home use that's heavier than me :o

Regardless, cheaper at absolute hifi at $4749.

    • Good find… But that's oak black finish and no free shipping.

      • Tbf the oak black finish looks so much better than the $2 toys-R-US temu finish on this.

      • Oak black finish always over piano black…

In my wish list to own the big daddy one day for sure. I have the PB2000 and love it to bits. I can't imagine what this can do to the house with it's tremour strength.

    Cheers, bought none

Man, SVS subwoofers have increased in price by more than double over the last decade. I bought 2 of their flagship model SVS PB-13 Ultra subwoofers in gloss piano black brand new mid 2013 for au$2200 each from DeepHz audio, and they’re still going strong. The $4400 I paid for the pair is cheaper than what it costs in 2024 for 1 single SVS PB-16 Ultra.

    • +4

Not just SVS, all decent gear is heaps more expensive than a decade ago.

    • +2

DeepHz had awesome prices and the guy running it was great to deal with. A real shame it closed.

    • +1

2013 is a long time ago, have you seen what Sydney property prices have done since then ?

    • agree!!!!! i also have 2 and they are great!

  • +1

    Great price. Considering…

  • This is like 80 percent of my whole sound system budget

    • Your audio budget is $6k? What did you get?

      • Haven't bought yet but probably a bunch of KEF Q series speakers in a surround setup and maybe an SVS sub (but not this monstrosity. Budget doesn't factor in a receiver either

        • +2

I think you'll be really happy with the Kef Q series. But also, this is the beginning of the audio rabbithole :)

At this price range, take a look at the new Tonewinner SW-D9000. 18" Woofer for less than this.

  • Nice. I can hear it all the way from here @Maadmaax

Saw one of these in-store, absolutely massive 635(h) x 551(w) x 785(d). You'd want to be living on acreage.

  • thanks op but that's too small for me, instead I got a Yamaha NS-SW300 for $500

    • +1

Did you buy some ventolin for your new sub too?

    • That's crazy I bought one of these last year for $400 and they've like doubled in price since

  • Yes.

  • -2

For this money I could custom make 2 subs that would out perform this. I know most don't have the tools or workshop but it's not that difficult.

    • +1

For sure. This is just a ported (vented) enclosure by the look of it, I don’t see any fancy stuff like 4th order bandpass; but it could be an Isobarik. Either way you’re right, despite all the downvotes 😄 I last built a set of transmission line floorstanders which sounded good. Sold them as my place was too small.

I just came here to say that, in 2024, I can't believe businesses still have websites that when you click on an image magnifying glass there's SFA difference.

  • Thanks OP, bought one.

Sending my gran in tomorrow morning to do click & collect, hope that's ok?

  • Get dual REL subs if you can lol I'm after T9x

We're being shafted here in Australia. Selling direct from the SVS US site for $2,199 so AU $3,277.

    Aus RRP of $6,999? C'mon, get real…….

    • Free ships to MyUS (tax free) in Florida, then US$1,431 A$2,350 (incl GST) to Australia. Shipped weight 94kg

  • did you factor in shipping costs or just the exchange rate.?

    • +1

Stores dont pay individual shipping costs for their items! They have a big order every few months with many items. Which is usually shared with other stores as one huge international shipping order. So they are paying a fraction of the cost from what it would be for us, as a single item.

      • Sure, a store would import a full container of inventory which still incurs a significant cost for a 94kg item. The reseller then incurs marketing, warehousing, cash flow, ownership & warranty support costs. They would rarely sell this item at RRP, so their margin is likely less than you may imagine.

        • agree with sumyungguy! —————- Water Bearer - i dont think you know what your talking about.. you may not think your paying for the freight but im sure its in the price. No one ships an item for no cost.. dreaming! wether its many items or not , space in a container costs. The bigger the space the higher the cost. Even if its shared with other stores and other orders your still paying as per space used in a container. Lets say you have 2 items a water bottle and this sub. The water bottle will be at a fraction of the cost compared to a sub. i could easily tell you the shipping costs with dimensions via container shipping. 40ft container is around the $4500usd at the moment take into account the port charges and delivery of container and labour for unloading would be approx $2600 so total is $4500usd / .64 exchange rate = $7300 + 2600 = approx 9900 to $10,000 shipping fees then plus tax on product.

then item size if i knew that i could work out the freight cost for this item

          • @Retarded Lunatic: It's 87cm x 70cm x 98cm, dead weight 94kg. I suggest you base it on a 20' FCL shipping in peak retail season and needing BMSB treatment. SVS is in Ohio so I'd assume the origin port is New York, destination Melbourne. My freight partners would always quote road transport to LA seeing as time on the sea is so much shorter.

  • per 40ft container -its approx - $1000 aud shipping from USA port to your warehouse per sub, that being said factor in the freight from the shop to port USA side and also add tax and duties on the Australian side which i wouldnt know.

so based on the above - SVS US site for $2,199usd to AUD $3436 + 1000 freight + shipping from shop to port in USA ( no idea ) + duties and tax Australia side (no idea also ) =
( your end cost for the product)

    • no warranty
    • no volt conversion
    • no AU plug

also from the above comment i would probably go this way - cheaper at absolute hifi at $4749.

  • Umm guys, these are made in China, so why would a retailer here import from USA? Why bother calculating the cost of shipping from USA, after it's already been shipped from China to USA? The lack of logic baffles me.
Sad how we get reamed on prices for electronics in Oz, totally agree with that point.
Also, surprised Ozbargainers would entertain such expensive audiophile shiz…

this is how stupid your comment is - apple products are made in china why buy from Australia….common sense went out the door with this comment.

      • User name checks out.
My comment is related to a retailer bulk importing a 40ft container and paying 2 sets of shipping/customs tax/storage etc.

        • I used to work in international supply chain logistics. I'd expect the products are all warehoused at SVS in Ohio then shipped to distributors via their preferred method; which is likely sea freight FCL for 94kg subwoofers purchased by affluent customers in pairs to tune out their bass traps.

        • why dont you do that with apple products then..?
