  • Hell yeah, time to grab a few to spend on Steam credit to buy the deck next month.

    • +2

I'm assuming Ultimate Gift Card (with EB Games) -> Steam Gift Card?

Some employee may refuse using Gift Card to purchase Gift Card, so might have to try a few stores.

      • +5

Yep. The good thing about UGC is you can add them to mobile wallet so just say you’re paying on card and you’re good.

        • +3

Sweet. Add with Ebgames plus, another 5%.

          • @burningrage: Shit might be time for me to sign up for that horrible thing..

            • @Winny182: Break-even point would be spending ~$500+ on Gift Card (assuming you sign up for 3 months at $25).

          • @burningrage: I would check with Staff on that first, their terms and conditions for the 5% off digital currencies and content doesn't list Steam gift cards in the inclusions or exclusions.

            https://www.ebgames.com.au/ebworld/terms#section-12

            1. EB World PLUS
              10. EB World PLUS membership includes the following benefits available only during membership period:
              • 2. 5% off digital currencies and content
                * Includes Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Switch Online, PlayStation Store Gift Card, Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Gift Card, Roblox Gift Card, Fortnite V-Bucks and digital games
                * Excludes EB Games and Zing Pop Culture Gift Cards. Excludes Code-In-a-Box Games
    • This was my immediate thought when the deck was announced too.

  • Does Woolworths accept split payment on gift cards?

    • -2

Nah doesn't work on gift cards I've tried

    • Yes, I've done it many times at staffed and self-checkouts at Woolies. At Coles you can at staffed checkouts but not at self-checkouts.

      • Actually you can on self-checkouts but requires staff intervention anyway (I had to do this last week).

        • Are you talking about card split payments at Coles self-checkouts? Even with a staff member they couldn't get it to work, I had to go to the service desk. Also, I think Wookie has confirmed Coles block split card payments at self-checkouts for gift card purchases.

          • @rokufan: Yes gift card split payments . I paid partially with one (which ran out of funds), then paid the balance with another gift card.

            • @Piranha2004: Coles self-checkouts?

              • @rokufan: Yes the full size ones (not the mini ones) that take up a full row like a normal register.

  • -8

I don’t understand the exclusions etc and what is actually in promotion.

    I have two questions.

    1. Is there a limit of how much you are buying to get the 10% bonus? I’m thinking about purchasing $4000 and get $4000 extra.

    2. What’s the biggest demolitions I can purchase that I can pay to Officeworks? Please?

    Thanks

    • +5

      Hahaha I wish I could get 4000 for 4000

      • Typo, it’s $400.

  • +2

Go in Wednesday morning and you'll probably see VL Vanilla MCs everywhere.

  • Bonus 10% means 10% off?

    • +5

      No that's 9.09%off. pay 100 get 110

      • I wait for the actual 10%.

    • +5

      Actually only 9.090909% off

      • Stupid question, but how does the math here work? I would have thought that paying $100 and getting $10 back in rewards points would be a 10% discount as you've essentially only paid $90?

        • +2

you would get $1100 if you purchased $1000. but if you want to sell $1100 value for 90% it's $990.

        • +4

Another way to look at it:

Technically, neither 10% reward points back nor the bonus 10% gc value are strictly speaking 10% off. They're both 9.09% off as you still need to pay 100% of the original gc value on 110% of the value of goods to be purchased (be it groceries with reward points or whatever you purchase with bonus gc value).

The only true 10% off deals are the instant 10% off purchase price of the gc. In that case, you are paying 90% of the original gc value for 100% of the value of goods to be purchased.

  • Can these be bought using woolworths egiftcards? Can usually find those for 4% off

    • No.

      • It is against the terms and conditions of any gift cards issued by Woolworths Group (e.g. Everydat WISH, Woolworths Supermarkets) to use them as a payment method for any gift cards or vouchers.

      • If you try to use them as a payment method for any gift cards, you should get a Cancelled - Items Not Allowed error on the EFTPOS terminal. If you are at a self checkout, you will need a staff member to clear the error message before you can attempt payment again.

You can always give it a go if you want, but I would expect it to not work.

      • Do Vanilla Visa cards work?

        • +1

It should, as long as a staff member does not stop you.

  • including all 50-500$ gift card ?

    • +2

      Excludes Ultimate Active & Wellness $50, Baby & Mum $50, Beauty & Spa $50 & $100, Shopping $50 & $100, Thanks $50 and all Ultimate Variable gift cards.

  • Do they force this 5 cards maximum per customer policy? Can I just use self-checkout and buy 10 cards all at once?

  • @WookieMonster Do you know if everyday rewards is required to get the bonus?

    • I would say it is not required, because there is nothing in the terms and conditions to say you need an Everyday Rewards card to take advantage of this deal.

      • +1

        Thank you.

      • Do you know if we will earn base points from buying these gift cards? @WookieMonster

        • +1

You will not earn any base Everyday Rewards points when purchasing these gift cards, because:

          • The Everyday Rewards terms and conditions says you will not earn any points when purchasing any gift cards (unless otherwise advertised), and

          • This deal does not mention anything about Everyday Rewards (let alone earning base Everyday Rewards points).

    • I purchased 5x 100 at assisted check out, They asked me to scan rewards.

  • +7

For anyone interested, five participating retailers were added to the Ultimate gift card scheme earlier today.

In terms of gift cards that should be relevant to this deal:

    Gift Card New Participating Retailers
Everyone Dotti, Jacqui E, Jay Jays, Just Jeans, Portmans
Her Dotti, Jacqui E, Jay Jays, Just Jeans, Portmans
    Him Jay Jays, Just Jeans
    Kids Jay Jays, Just Jeans
Students Dotti, Jay Jays, Just Jeans
Teens Dotti, Jay Jays, Just Jeans
Thanks Dotti, Jacqui E, Jay Jays, Just Jeans, Portmans
  • What’s the max demolitions you can get that includes (office works)? Thanks

    • Everyone: $100 (I think?)
      Home: $100
      Kids: $50
      Students: $50
      Teens: $50

      • Is there any limit of amount you can buy for each Woolworths?

        • The gift card terms and conditions says you can only get bonus value on a maximum of five gift cards per day.

Woolworths’ checkouts will let you purchase a maximum of ten gift cards per transaction, but I would personally not do that for this deal, because there is a very good chance that if you did that, you would only get the bonus value applied to five gift cards in the transaction.

I am not sure how else Woolworths would enforce the five gift cards per day restriction, so I reckon it would be okay to purchase five gift cards in one transaction and then purchasing five more gift cards in a separate transaction on the same day (either at the same store or at a different store), assuming staff will let you do this.

  • So would the ultimate gift card would be turned into a 55$ card if i bought a 50$ card kinda confused on how it would work

    • +1

Add the 10% back to the card value so a $50 card will be $55 and a $100 card will be $110. You can confirm by checking the card balance on the website.

  • So I have normally been buying multiple physical cards and then redeeming them one by one in store.

From some of these comments am i understanding this correct? I can buy up to 8x $100 ultimate gift cards and then add it to apple pay and use it as an $800 transaction on apple pay instead of scanning 8 individual transactions?

    • +3

      No.

If you purchase 8x $100 Ultimate gift cards and then add them onto a supported mobile wallet (e.g. Apple Pay), you will end up with 8x $100 Ultimate gift cards stored as 8 separate payment cards. If you want to redeem all 8 in one transaction and you are in-store, you will need to tap each card separately (assuming the merchant can handle split payments across 8x Visa cards).

However, be mindful of the following:

      • Depending on the iPhone model you have and/or the iOS version you are running, you may run into a hard limit to the number of payment cards you can have on your Apple Pay wallet at the same time. For example, the iPhone 6S running iOS 15 can only support at most 8 payment cards at once, but iOS 17 appears to have removed this limit.

      • All supported mobile wallets appear to run fraud checks whenever you attempt to add a new payment card, but Apple Pay seems to be the most problematic with this. You will see occasional comments on these kinds of deals (e.g. this one) from people complaining that Apple Pay will consistently return an Invalid Card error, even though they entered the correct card details and accepted the gift card terms and conditions.

      • +1

Perfect, thank you for the detailed summary.

    • You can buy apple gift cards in jbhifi

  • Does staff discount stack?

  • 'Ultimate gift cards are prepaid eftpos or Visa gift cards that can be redeemed at a defined list of participating retailers. '

If it's just a visa card, surely I can use this anywhere?

Anyone know if these work at Amazon - I know it's not listed, but seems strange that you cannot use a "visa" anywhere.

    • +1

If it's just a visa card, surely I can use this anywhere?

      No, not necessarily.

Visa is a card network accepted at millions of merchants across the world, but the gift card scheme owner (in this case, Blackhawk Network) has the ability to restrict transactions to those at participating retailers. It appears Blackhawk Network does this by using payment terminal/gateway identifiers to determine whether you are at a participating retailer (and this is evident from previous discussions.)

      • +1

Perfect - thanks for the explanation

  • Hi All, I am considering buying furniture from IKEA. So just wondering if anyone have tried using this gift cards at IKEA and how many of them can be physically accepted by IKEA. TIA.

  • Is the biggest denominations for Everyone/Home/Students $100?

  • Can you use ultimate giftcards for online split payments like for PayPal or something?

    • Nope, I have tried. Unless they changed the rule recently.

  • What is meant by exclusion of Ultimate "variable"?

    • It means that the denomination where you choose the amount to load on the gift card is excluded from this deal.

      For example:

      • If you scan a variable load Ultimate Home gift card (which allows you to load an amount between $50 and $500), choose to load $100 on it and buy it, you will not receive the 10% bonus value during this deal, because you purchased the variable load denomination, not the fixed $100 denomination.

      • If you scan a $100 Ultimate gift card (where the amount is fixed to $100) and buy, you will receive the 10% bonus value during this deal, because it is not listed as an exclusion for this deal.

The term “variable” is used, because the amount that can be loaded onto the gift card will vary, depending on the amount you choose to load at the time of purchase.

      • I see, so basically some of the $50 ones are excluded, and the Variable value ones are excluded.

        • Correct. Also, some of the $100 ones are excluded too.

  • Is it possible to buy an Ultimate Him gift card and convert that to a JB Hi Fi e-gift card via the Ultimate gift cards website?

  • how long are the cards valid for? 3 years?

    • It depends on the version you purchase. If we use this image for illustrative purposes:

      • If the gift card looks like the one on the left (or has the One4All branding on it), it expires in the 2030s. The gift card packaging should tell you the expiry date.

      • If the gift card looks like the one on the right, the gift card balance expires three years from the date of purchase. (The expiry date you use for online purchases, exchanges or adding to a mobile wallet is different, and you can grab it from the balance check website for physical Ultimate gift cards.)

  • I think the shops lists needs to be updated. Rebel is no longer part of Him's ultimate gift cards

    • +1

The table says the following about rebel and a few other retailers in regards to the Ultimate Him gift card:

(Please look here for guidance on BCF, Drummond Golf, rebel, Supercheap Auto and UFC Fight Pass.)

If you follow the link to the FAQ, it only says that rebel accepts Ultimate gift cards that include the rebel logo on it. All physical gift cards manufactured from December 2022 onwards do not include the rebel logo on the packaging, but if you go to a Woolworths / Woolworths Metro store with really old stock and you find an Ultimate Him gift card with the rebel logo on there, you can use it at rebel.

There is also FAQs on the Ultimate gift card website on this topic, including:

CAN I USE MY GIFT CARD WITH A SUPERCHEAP AUTO, BCF OR REBEL LOGO RIGHT THROUGH TO THE DATE OF EXPIRY?

Yes, if your gift card has a Rebel, Supercheap Auto or BCF logo on the card you can shop at one of these stores right up to when the card expires.

I TRIED USING MY ULTIMATE CARD IN-STORE/ONLINE AT SUPER RETAIL GROUP (REBEL, SUPERCHEAP AUTO, BCF) BUT IT’S NOT WORKING?

If your ultimate Gift Card contains the Rebel, Supercheap Auto or BCF logo on the card then it can still be used at those stores. Any Ultimate eGift cards purchased from 1 October 2022 onwards will not be valid to be redeemed at these brands, please visit www.ultimategiftcards.com.au/all-retailers and sort by card type for a complete list of participating retailers.

MY GIFT CARD HAS A SUPER RETAIL GROUP (REBEL, SUPERCHEAP AUTO, BCF) LOGO, CAN I STILL EXCHANGE FOR AN EGIFT?

Yes, to exchange your gift card for an eGift, please visit https://exchangeyourcard.com.au/

In other words, the Ultimate gift card website says some Ultimate Him gift cards will work at rebel.

What in the table do you think should change?

      • Thanks for updating the post to specify this. Getting "really old stock" is next to impossible considering the stock needs to be 2 years old.

  • Any idea if we can get the combine with the 10% off once a month(I get is as I have Woolworths insurance ) to buy these gift cards ?

  • Excludes Ultimate Active & Wellness $50

Is my understanding correct that it would mean the Ultimate Active & Wellness $100 card is included. It's not in the image so I thought I'll ask.

    • +2

Yes, it should be part of this deal, because:

      • The title for this deal in the Woolworths catalogue lists Ultimate Gift Cards. The title in the Woolworths catalogue does not list out specific types of Ultimate gift cards (which you see for some other deals at Woolworths).

      • The terms and conditions lists Offer available from 16/10/24 to 22/10/24 on all denominations of gift cards listed. Considering the title for this deal only lists Ultimate Gift Cards, it means all Ultimate gift cards are included (unless there is a specific exclusion listed later in the terms and conditions).

      • The terms and conditions goes onto say there are exclusions, but the only denomination of the Ultimate Active & Wellness gift card listed as an exclusion is the $50 denomination.

      • Woolworths should stock a $100 denomination of Ultimate Active & Wellness gift cards. Here is a photo I took of it in December 2021, plus I saw them for sale on the gift card shelf at a Woolworths this evening.

  • +2

I bought at my local, took the payment and all 5 did not activate. Had to get a refund and try again later today.

  • Tried two stores and couldn’t get the cards. There seems to be error in the system. Anyone else experiencing the same?

  • +1

Yep, the system can’t seem to activate it.

  • +1

If anyone successfully gets the cards, could you please let us know by posting here? thanks

    • Still not working as of 8.35.

If you are going to ‘try’ if it goes through, make sure you just get one and try to pay for it with cash. Otherwise, getting multiple transactions and refunds on cc can irk your bank.

  • Same issue here… not activating

  • Unable to activate cards twice this morning as well

  • +1

Tried to buy five this morning at 7am. Not activating. Received a refund

  • Tried purchasing 5 x $100 ultimate everyone at 8.32am with 2 x $250 Vanilla Visa (Coles).

All 5 cards failed to activate. Store manager couldn’t refund it back to the 2 x $250 cards, system doesn’t allow. Got refunded back to my debit card instead.

Headsup for anyone who is looking to buy with discounted coles visa card from promo 2 weeks ago.

    • Looks like you got a pretty good deal there? Literally converted the Visa cards to cash and got their discounts too

      • Yes and no haha. Really wanted those ultimate bonus to get a macbook ASAP.

        • Same here. Used my coles Vanilla $250 cards and refunded back to my debit card. I don't consider it a win as I wasted 30 mins trying to get these. Wishing to buy Ikea furrniture

    • Since it was against policy of no gift cards can be bought with gift cards , the manager could have refused the refund ?

      • To be fair, the gift card in that "policy" refers to woolies gift cards as a payment method, in which the system will reject automatically. With these vanilla gift cards, woolies system still allow them as a payment method. It's a separate issue now - refunding back to these vanilla visa.

  • Tried 5x100 Ultimate Home gift cards failed to activate so get refund back to my Vise. Problem everywhere

    • Indeed tried 10 cards all failed at activation. Poor codes

  • Tried this morning on Everyone and Him - failed to activate also

Must be a problem with the 10% bonus across all Woolies

On the plus side I paid with a special gift card and got the refund to my revolut :)

  • My woolies didn't even give me a refund :( (said the transaction was pending so wouldn't refund until it processes.. which can be a while) Might go back and let them know

  • The shop assistant was very kind to me asked to pick others gift card and its also failed to activate but this time only 3 gift cards left on the shelf when I came back, almost 30 minutes during the process took her to try to work on the return money back to my account, the bad morning just started haha

    • How long ago did you try to purchase?
