Looks to be a nice deal for those wanting a decent build quality yet still entry level price 2-in-1.

No dedicated GPU, but the ultra series seem to do okay without it for more basic tasks. You may want to hold for the new Intel Ultra series being released if you're not in a rush or demands are slightly above this model.

Mobo supports upto 32gb for those interested.

Includes a magnetic pen in the box.

  • Never heard of the ultra 7 155U processor.
Sounds like a good light laptop if the processor is decent.

No more Intel Core i3/5/7 15XXX K/F/U/P, this is the successor to 14th gen

They made the naming system even worse

      • On purpose IMHO to mask the lack of innovation

        • Idk, seems like a pivot from just maxing the cpu power on mobile devices that night otherwise not need that level of power requirement.

Personally I'd rather the new integrated graphics which do laps around the older models. Gives me a super light laptop with decent battery life that can handle basic gaming while replacing my tablet.

    • Reviews look good for light gaming and modest workloads, definitely not meant to replace a heavy duty workhorse or gaming machine.

The light weight and tablet replacement also were big selling points for me.

  • I was just looking at 2 in 1 used laptops but something closer to $$350 to 400 like lenovo yoga gen1 or lenovo x13 yoga. Does anyone have experience with those models? Thanks

    • yes, they suck

      • Which one and why?

        • x13 yoga it overheats a lot lol and the battery life sucks i have i5-10210U and 8GB ram in mine which i brought around ur price point that u mention

          • @AndrewMTG: Oh wow, thanks for that. I only found positive reviews, might be to consider other options then

I have both 16 inch with this processor and 13.3 inch with older 8 gen i5 . Personally I would not buy a bigger 2 in 1 as it clumsy to use as a tablet. Regarding the 155u it's plenty fast for regular work things and good battery life.

      • I was looking the i5 8th gen with 16GB 14 or 13.3'' screen for my kids.and wife. They don't need anything powerful, will be used just at home for typing, homework and drawings from time to time. We currently have a surface 3 (4GB, i3 4th gen, 12 inch touchscreen) which is fine, but the power button is slowly dying

I have this, it throttles big time when hot and as well when charging via usb c and running dual monitors as well.
Throttled usually means running at .4ghz.
I do have 64 GB ram in tough and heavy workloads.
I have a case open with lenovo and they want me to run a 16 hour hardware check.

    • +1

      yeah throttles ruins it

    • You sure it's the same model? This kit only supports 32gb ddr5?

      • So it looks like this model is only recommended to go upto 32gb.. would be interested if the over abundance of ram is pushing the cpu more, especially as it's a low tdp model?

Although in saying that, other models in the series are using the same CPU with 64gb

        • +1

It's crossed my mind as well but I haven't gotten round to testing it properly.

      • Yep, same model.
The mobo supports 64GGB (maybe more) but you can only order 32GB online although i did have it specced through our rep at 64GB

        • That mobo also supports the high tdp processors as well though right?

  • I would be careful of lenovo laptops.
I bought one for $1.2k (aprox), and they tried to charge me around $800 (approx) for a screen repair.
It seems 2k or 4k screens are standard, so a 2.8k screen repair may costs a ridiculous amount.
    Just thought people should know.

  • Would this be good for a high school student? Kid wants a 2in1 over a Macbook Air and I have no idea what to get!

    • +1

Depends on the subjects they are using. For general studies it would be okay, but for stem subjects, depending on the requirements, it might be pushed to it's limits

    • +1

It should be a good unit for a HS student with the caveat of my throttling issues above.
For all the school work my HS kids have done, it would be easy more than adequate.
The big benefit of this unit IMO is that you can upgrade the RAM after purchase if you need to.
