What's the current situation with Google and Apple on their respective "find my" networks?
I've seen articles ranging from "they're working together" to "we've compared the differences between Apple and Google's networks" (suggesting they don't use the same network still?).
Do we know if they'll ever be cross compatible? Or do we need more EU regulation to make things universal lol?
They’re not cross compatible, but they will notify the user if a tag from the opposite system has been following them around. Allowing them to find and disable it.
E.g. if an AirTag is following an android user, they will get a notification that an AirTag is following them.
That must be what they were "working on together" then, rather than actual cross compatibility.
I wonder if they'll ever willingly work together. Apple opening up means a much bigger "scanning base" with all the Android phones across the world… But that would also likely result in less people buying Airtags, opting for cheaper alternatives…
