For noting (as these are still good) but downward pressure will continue on the original given AirTag 2 rumoured to be formally announced / released in the next month or two from memory.

    Thank you bought, a pack

I keep forgetting what people use these for

    • +1

      Keys? Kids?

      • kittens? kars?

    • +1

I track our cars (5x), luggages and carry ons when we travel, my fathers backpack which he has a habit of leaving behind, pram/stroller so if I go for a walk my wife or others know where I am, pet collars to track them when they go out for a roam at the park, and in future, kids, when they start going to school on their own.

      • +2

Just put a tracking chip in your kids necks ;)

[Or use an app like Life360 - when they have phones]

++1 for using with international travel. Great use - particularly for checked bags.

        • +2

Life360 is really bad for privacy (everything they can collect from your phone and sell they will). Paralino is a privacy focused alternative that is still new (location history coming in the next month or two) made by one guy. Worth checking out if you care.

          • @Elyxar: Thanks for the tip re: Paralino

I’m assuming there’s a cost to using it. If so. do you know if there’s a family membership or if you have to lag per device?

            • @fookos: You buy a monthly/yearly group subscription. First month free trial and then discounted price forever for early adopters. Mini $59.99 1 group 5 members. Pro $69.99 3 groups 10 members. Max $109.99 10 groups 30 members. paralino.com Full end to end encryption which you can actually see in the app in real time.

              • @Elyxar: Thanks. May check it out. Are the prices you flagged above the baseline from which a discount is applied, or is that the current early adopter pricing (with discount already applied)?

Edit - all good. Found some more detail in an update / blog etc.

@fookos: If you're using android phones you can limit data they have access to. Worth keeping in mind that all the information they may sell is the same information a plethora or other apps and services are selling anyway - it usually sounds worse than it is. Have a junk email account linked to it and go with the best software experience.

Though i think there was a couple other issues with life360.. easy to find since it's public listed company

    • Remember where car is parked. If you share car with SO, check where the car is. Put one on your keys and never lose your keys again. I have one around my cat's neck if he runs away from paradise. One in my laptop bag. I would have more but they aren't exactly cheap and I always want the engraved version which you can't get a non Apple discount on.

  • I will wait for AirTag 2 :-)

    • AirTag 65 will the one to get!

Thanks OP, bought one. Wanted to check out the AirTags for the longest!

Airtags are another scam. A Bluetooth transmitter for that much? Lol

    • The advantage is that when outside of Bluetooth range, other devices can find it for you. Since Apple phones for ages are compatible, and so many people have iPhones, it's pretty reliable for being trackable through someone.

  • $139.45 on Amazon if you have Prime
$130.50 at DigiDirect + $8.95 shipping - So it is about the same as Amazon or MyDeal.

    • Not if you’re in a post code eligible for free postage from MyDeal, MyDeal is $15 cheaper, otherwise MyDeal is about $5 cheaper if you’re paying for shipping.

      • Deal must've expired because it is showing $139 on MyDeal for me.

    • Not available for regional shipping on Prime… Amazon sux…

Just in time for my wife's O/S travel!

    Thanks, OP

will you tell her or not?

      • +1

        Hahaha!

  • I must be missing something. Why would I have to tell her? Why wouldn't I just give them to her to use?

    • So innocent…

      • innocent or smart?
