Prices of comodities should be going down, not up.
50c might not seem anything but when you look at it from an economy POV, thats a 10% increase from when we were in peak inflation (supply chain disruption, shortage in food, natural disasters, covid, high petrol prices > $2.20, etc)

Also this isn't price gouging, this is a supply shock. The avian flu caused a shortage of eggs and shortage of chickens. Less supply = higher demand and higher price (or higher willingness to pay).
As VIC was also hit worst with this it's likely why they excluded them.
But yes "big chicken is bad" is an easier story for clickbait sensationalist media.

Yep. My local one hardly has any customers, car park always empty, employees confused when you ask about an advertised promo, etc and yet they are still open 10 years later.
For sure only started coming here during the 10 for $5 cheesy nuggets and the app with loyalty points. Before that unsure how they managed to make it this far
