Trying to decide between the WGG24401AU and WGG244A0AU which is $1500 at AppliancesOnline](https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/bosch-series-8-9…).

I'm not sure if the Bosch i-DOS feature is worth it. There is a 2016 comment that i-DOS is good if you use delay start.

Also considering the WAV28M40AU at $1,458 but this is out of stock and based on the control panel an older model.

We have the 244A0AU and if you have the money the i-DOS is worth it; use case dependent.

We have a newborn and the ability to simply throw clothes into the washing machine and press go is appreciated.

Only functionality it doesn’t have which I’d like is the ability to add extra rise cycles but I consider that ‘nice to have’ over ‘essential’.

I agree handy not having to measure them out and great with the delayed starts. Im using less detergent as well but that not a like for like comparison with another Bosch machine.

Use the rinse plus on mine for more rinse cycles.

i-DOS is definitely worth it. Takes the guess work out of the equation. We also noticed that detergent consumption has reduced since we bought Bosch. Suspect we were overdosing it before.

        • For me less tech the better . But if it’s a solid company then it’s ok

@life is suffering: I agree with this. A family member bought the idos and it broke, just out of warranty. Usually low tech Bosch lasts much longer.

      • +2

Mine is an older machine but I use the Allergy Plus setting which adds extra rinse cycles and uses a bit more water during rinsing to get rid of the detergent.

Got this for $1236 minus the $150 cash back offer in June, so $1086. Has been a great machine so far no complaints. I looked into iDOS but it isn’t worth it IMO

Over the last 20 odd years I used to go Bosch because I thought it was the best (washer/dryer/dishwasher)- last purchase was the Beko washing machine which was much cheaper and better warranty (2vs 5 year). All machines passed the test - they wash clothes.

    Equivalent model to this post:
    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/beko-9kg-front-l…

I would definitely choose a machine with an auto dose feature now I've used one. Just easy to only need ot fill it up once every 10-20 loads, or whatever.

    • Was just reading Whirlpool forums about Beko, where one person was recommending it, and later advising agains as drain pump failed twice within 6 months

      • Data points vs trends are hard to tease out. I've personally had to have had a Bosch dryer and a dishwasher repaired under warranty in the last 20ish years….but I don't think they're any less reliable, it's just what I had. My LG, Beko and Electrolux appliances haven't needed repair- but I don't rate them as 'more reliable'. Things break sometimes.

I always got the top series Bosch- as is my dishwasher now. They're a better finish but for my washing machine, it washes the same and I perceive it to be equally reliable- even with different warranty lengths. So, for my cost benefit analysis, I'm happy with the cheaper one because it performed the same for how I use it.

        • Until it breaks. That person had the same view and recommended Beko, but some months later, in the same thread, posted that they dont recommend it anymore.
I used to have Bosch dishwasher that needed expensive parts after 4 years. So I went with Whirlpool, which was like more than 1/2 price. I had to do small repairs on it over the years (same one each time), but has been great otherwise
LG washer I had for 14 years, but not expecting a new one (any brand) to last as long. I just want one that will last at least 5 years without any issues. Beko has 5 year warranty, but I am not prepared to use laundromat each time its "fixed" under warranty

          • @SAU: I think you would be unlucky for any of them to break down within 5yrs, regardless of brand. None of mine have. Bosch I presume it's still going (divorced) after 10+ years, Beko still going at 6. At the end of the day it comes down to luck, presuming you're using items as intended. If one company has an X failure rate and a more reliable company has a Y failure rate, the difference between the better and worse reliability is small, on what are already small numbers.

            • @bxpressiv: Depends. Like this Whirlpool dishwasher of mine… The drain pump carbon washers are made to fail. Originals lasted 2 years before needing a replacement. Same pump is used in many other cheap brands, so they would fail within this time as well.
Bosch pump has a similar mechanism, but uses different type of washers and impeller, that is longer lasting and at least serviceable (can take impeller apart and replace the washer, where in Whirlpool you need to replace the whole pump, as they dont sell washers or impellers separately)

  • TGG are selling WGG24402AU for $1288. Does anyone know the differences between WGG24402AU and WGG24401AU?

    • The WGG24402AU has AquaStop anti-flood protection system provides 100% anti-flood protection. I'm not convinced it is worth the extra $$$, but comments in this thread about i-DOS are tending to push me in that direction.

    • Did you find out if there's any difference? Is it just the anti-flood protection? If the 4402 has the anti-flood protection, then not a big difference in cost to what potentially could cost more if it floods. I queried Appliances Online but they didn't know either as they don't stock it.

  • I just bought this exact washing machine 3 weeks ago, been great so far.

I went to https://www.eands.com.au/ and talked to their chat support team and asked if they would price beat Appliances online (which was higher than the current price, but can't remember the exact price), they said they could do the same price. I asked again if they could beat appliances online and they said no, so I said ok thanks I'll keep looking and then they replied and beat the Appliances Online price, so got this for $1200 delivered and installed the next day.

    • Limited states. Not Qld, unfortunately.

  • Got this about a year ago for 1270
    Very happy with it.
Very Quiet vs the old Bosch we had

  • You can get this for $1113 with eBay Plus with coupon SNSM11 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/869498) via https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/276543720830

    • So does this code work for non ebay plus memebers? How much is it to join ebay plus?

      • I don't think it does, and actually it looks like the code might be targeted, probably wouldn't risk it if you don't already have it.

      • Search eBay Plus here on ozbargain, there might be a deal or a discounted annual subscription going..

  • Hey guys, is there a big difference between a 9kg vs 10kg capacity other than drum size/volume? In other words, am I missing too much with how much laundry I can squeeze into the washer? Seems like there aren't many options for 10kg other than jumping to the next size up 12kg but those have bigger exterior dimensions.

  • Drum size is actually the same weight capacity is changed , this has been discussed briefly in previous deals , the bearings are bigger in the larger rated one but best to check for yourself at the shops / online about differences in models.

  • also price has increased $119
Current hardly normal deal is better at $1299 + 10% limited use online gift card.
