  • How long do you have to activate it? is it usual 30 days?

    • +1

Usually it’s 2 years but the allowance might be different depending on when you activate it.

      • +2

I'm just going by this. No where does it say activate by 2 years. It says within 30 days of purchase. It says this on the actual product page itself.

"Activate SIM within 30 days of purchase, or by the date advertised in a promotion, whichever is earlier, to receive advertised inclusions."

        https://www.catch.com.au/product/catch-connect-365-day-mobil…

"You need to activate your SIM card within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised on a promotion in order to take advantage of advertised inclusions."

        https://catchconnect.com.au/home/page/activate-my-sim-card

        • +2

That's just for the promotion data.

          • +2

@reactor-au: ok obviously you will want to activate it within 30 days to take full advantage of the promotion data.

            • @hollykryten: That’s what I meant by “allowance”. As other are suggesting better to activate within 30 days to get more data.

          • +2

@reactor-au: The 120GB is standard. There's no bonus data, the price is just discounted. So I assume you can buy it for a reduced priced by 22/10/2024 and then activate it 30 days later.

    • +14

I just confirmed with CC agent that you don't have to activate with 30 days. The only thing you loose after 30 days from purchase is advertised inclusion (which is nothing) in this plan.

  • +3

If you don't have OnePass and don't need it, there's a free trial or you can just pay $4 for a month.

  • Does it work with optus locked phones ?

    • +1

      Yes

    • Runs on Optus network so should work on any Optus prepaid phone

      • +4

        username checks out

  • How long does it take for the physical SIM to arrive ?
8 days are a bit too long

    • -8

      OMG! its FREE DELIVERY man!!!!

      Unfortunately no express post option

    • +1

It took 20 days to deliver by catch after multiple follow up’s, you will be lucky if you get it in 8 days.

      • -1

And that gave you only 10 (30-20) days to activate ?

    • Mine took nearly 2 weeks to arrive.

  • Sweet as, thanks OP

  • Tempting to get this for my tab

  • -3

    E Sim? 6gee? Telstra?

    • Powered by the Optus 4G Plus Network.

  • +2

Voicemail isn't working on catch despite being setup, anyone experiencing similar?

    • +3

      Have the same problem

    • +1

Same. I called support and they couldn't do anything about it.

      • What a joke, I'll be calling demanding a refund.

        • +2

Okay , lead by example then !

          • +1

@Murkymerv: For those playing at home, they 'reset' the voicemail and it fixed the issue.

  • +4

You must activate your chosen prepaid plan on catchconnect.com.au or on the Catch Connect App within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised on the promotion (whichever is earlier). Additionally, you must activate your Catch Connect SIM card within 24 months of purchase, otherwise the SIM card will be cancelled and any credit associated with it will be forfeited. Not transferable or redeemable for cash. You must be aged at least 14 years to purchase a prepaid service with Catch Connect.

  • +2

no esim is big sad. Back to the good enough price

  • I am currently with catch connect. So I need to import my number to another provider before buying this one?

    • +1

Yeah you will need to port out and back in. If your phone has eSIM you can do it for $2 with Lebara, otherwise grab a $7 Lebara SIM pack from Coles or Woolies when they are on special, port out and then port back in to the Catch Connect SIM.

      • +1

does a $2 telstra sim not work anymore? that used to let you port in and out without paying for a plan.

        • +3

yes, still works. I used it yesterday!

          • @LG-13: Great tnx, that sounds like the go

          • @LG-13: I didn't know this, is there anything special you need to do or can it just be activated without a recharge via the normal website activation process?

            • +1

@bonezAU: I did it on a tablet browser, I remember the no charge option is a bit hard to find. they first give you a table of options of different plans, right at the bottom, I think its called "continue without a recharge" or something to that effect.

          • @LG-13: Did you need to do a recharge on the Telstra SIM or just activate it and then port back to Catch?

            • +1

@cappie: @cappie just activate, wait a bit, then port back.

              • @LG-13: Umm, how long is a bit? 5 minutes, 30 minutes, over an hour?
                Thx :-)

                • @cappie: @cappie I waited 2 hours, but I heard you don't need so much time. I think just check you can receive SMS and calls after the port out, then you can probably port again.

                  • +1

@LG-13: Great, appreciate your advice :-)

          • @LG-13: Perfect, thanks mate - did you also use it to port out / back in for this Catch sim?

        • +1

As per @LG-13's comment, I also used a telstra $2 sim and worked flawlessly - had the number ported over within <5mins of completing it online, waited an hour + confirmed I could receive calls, then ported back to catch

  • This used to be $98 when on promo?

    • A lot of MVNOs have discontinued their $120 offers, so it's starting to be a case of take what you can get.

  • -2

    which network

    • +5

      Mobile network 😊

      • I was looking for landline network deal

    • +3

Powered by the Optus 4G Plus Network.

  • +1

Any idea how long this deal will run for? Currently on a catch mobile plan which doesn't expire until mid-November

    • +3

Discounted SIM expires on 22nd October, I am unsure about this extra discount code, though.

    • +1

Only need to activate within 30 days to get any promotional extras.

There are no promotional extras or inclusions with this deal. It's just a discounted price. So you've got 2 years to activate.

  • +3

Does this work for Returning customers?

    • +2

Like to know this too. Want to get this plan for my son. Already with catch and due to expire beginning of Nov.

    • Yes

  • +1

When does the promo code expire? I’m looking to delay purchase until around this time next week.

  • +3

My existing catch plan expires on 16th Nov. Is this going to be suitable given activation timeframe?

    • +2

would like to know this too

    • The card isn't going to deactivate after 30 days lol. Last time I bought one of these for my mum but forgot that she had auto recharge on her other plan, catch said it was good for 2 years, just if you bought it during a data promo or smth then you obviously can't get it

      • Ok thanks

  • -1

    No international calls?

    • You can purchase 300mins international calls for $10 which is valid for a month

  • Damn , just bought one in two weeks.

    • Will you survive?

    • +1

Your sentence doesn't make grammatical sense. You bought one two weeks ago?

  • Thanks op

  • International roaming to receive 2FA sms, yay or nay?

    • +4

Worked for me when I travelled to the Philippines around a month ago now. Managed to get 2FA sms from NAB

      • Did you have to activate/ pay for roaming?

        • +2

Nope, it automatically detects you’re in another country and will automatically turn it on I believe. But as long as you don’t answer any calls or make any calls. Receiving sms messages are free.

          • @ven041: Cheers for confirming!

          • @ven041: Can you use wifi calling like Boost?

            • @nightelves: Didn’t get to try it out as much as I’d like since I got a local sim. But the one time I did try call overseas without buying any credit, the call to NAB didn’t go through and I ended up using my partner’s phone instead who is on Optus. Also was using hotel wifi at the time which was somewhat stable.

  • Ive put my dad on this plan for the last 3 years never had a problem. His in his late 70s so doesn't go out much so the data isn't a problem for him!

  • +2

Extra 8% off with SmartSpending eGiftcard

  • Can I port an existing catch number to this or would I need to port away then back in?

  • Just got a text after activation saying that myphone HONOR Magic 4 Pro is not supported on the Optus network and won't work soon.

    Anyone facing this issue?

    • Probably due to your phone is not listed as excluded for 3g by Optus ?

      • most likely and i just bought it so what can i do now omg

        • No idea, just hoping that they will put into the list soon, or maybe move to another carrier, from what I can read from some conversation

    • It's because your phone doesn't support volte. But it actually can. Once you enable volte, it will use 4g to make calls instead of 3g, so 3g shut down won't matter anymore.

  • New services only.. Is it any cheaper transferring to Aldi $5 sim then getting this one? Since I am an existing customer?
Making it better than paying for a $150 recharge?

  • Bummer, can only use special once. Need to buy two sims for 2 children.

    • +1

Setup another onepass trial account with a spare sim

  • Anyone else getting this error when entering in the coupon code

Sorry, to use this coupon code: Free delivery benefit.

Could do it a few hours ago but sister is getting that error message now and so am i

    • I got the same error message.

    • Same issue. Making brand new account solved it.

    • guess your account is NOT an OnePass member?

      • Obviously we both are or I wouldn't be trying… Anyhow, just did a free try with another email and got it

  • Just ordered 1 for $99
Will it allow to transfer existing number onto the new SIM card ?

    • +1

      Yes

  • Hows catch reception for primary phone? Recommended? Full optus network?
Thinking to change from boost since they discontinue current plan

    • Yes full Optus, albeit only 4g. I have amaysim and had catch before. Works fine.

      • Catch and Coles using Optus gives similar signal between the two?
