Wallbox Pulsar Plus (EV Charger) - Three Phase (22kW) with 5m Tethered Cable $899 Delivered @ JET Charge

161

$899 not bad for a 3 phase (22kwh) charger with cable. Pulled the trigger on this as it also has OCPP compatibility. Getting it installed next week and as its the PLP1 model, apparently it can integrate in to Home Assistant. So my home assistant should be able to do on demand charging based on what my inverter tells it.

I have a BYD Atto 3 which can only handle single phase charging but im buying this as I wont have to upgrade my charger again and it has OCPP compared to my existing dumb charger.

Used to be able to buy a Nissan Pulsar for this much on Gumtree…..

  • How much is the standard install? They mention it on the page but there is no price attached.

edit: disregard, after reading it seems a three phase installation is considered non-standard. So unless you are buying a 22kwh charger just to charge at 7kwh, a standard install won't apply

Great deal. Cheapest good quality charger supported by chargehq
    https://chargehq.net/ev-charger-support-register

    • I guess unless you are going for chargehq compatibility, there are cheaper chargers around?

      https://evse.com.au/product/ocular-home-w-6m-type-2-cable-22…

      • If I'm wrong, please correct me. But I don't believe that has OCPP. That's a huge loss. It's incredibly hard to manually ensure your EV is only charging off your solar panels or battery without connectivity. Even if you don't have panels now, you might in the future, and then you'll find yourself stuffed cos you saved a whole $4 and now can't integrate your inverter/battery with your charger.

Have a read of this to see how the future looks. Highly expected that every charger will be required to have OCPP in the future https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/tesla-ev-charger-sa/

        • The PLP1 datasheet says it does.

The Pulsar Plus model talks to the Wallbox Portal. Home assistant has an integration that can talk to the wallbox portal to control the charger.

          • @nedski: Correct. I was referring to the one they linked!

            • @Ibz: Oh apologies, I missed that.

  • How much is the install?

    • You can generate an online quote with them. I am trying right now. But a 3-phase install is apparently non-standard so might be extra.

Is this a DC Charger? Will it Charge a Tesla 3 at 22kw as Tesla model 3's only support up to 11kw AC Charging.

    • +1

Its AC I believe as your home runs on AC.

    • A DC charger would cost a LOT more than this. Definitely an AC charger. Will charge Tesla Model 3 @ 11kw.

At your own peril, mine died anout 2 months ago after having it less than a year.

They have no Australian based support/staff, so warranty replacement is rather fun and ongoing..

    • When I spoke to Jetcharge about its specs, they said that if anything went wrong, they would just replace it with a different brand / model thats equivalent.

      • All good if they do, migtht be worth confirming that they won't wait on a refund from wallbox first. The aus installer i've got said that they need to wait until the Wallbox refund hits their account before they supply a new unit (due to how dodgy Wallbox are with payments), which is fair enough.

Wallbox's last 3 emails I've received from wallBox have been identical, it does not inspre confidence.

        "Thank you for your response,

We are still checking with our specialized team and once we get the response we will contact you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

        Kind Regards,"

        • Oh I wouldn't play that game. Your deal is with the seller not Wallbox and would be pointing that out in the ACL.

  • Can anyone recommend an untethered option?

    • Oculus looks like a good unit. I've been trying to get one from EVSE but they are bloody useless when I tty to contact them. I'll look elsewhere

      • I have the oculus and it is a good unit, but when I talked to the installer he said they were at their limits for rate of installs due to availability of personnel.

They did do a good job, and the unit itself has been faultless.

      • I sent them some emails too trying to clarify a few details and found them hopeless too and didn't give me any confidence at all.

        • Glad it wasn't just me. I need 2 units installed, with the wiring already laid by my builder. Would be a easy job for them, but hey… seems like they're not looking for business.

Im replacing this with the Wallbox as thr ZJbeny doesn't have ocpp.

I think you need the additional solar module/monitor to utilise solar only charging (without ChargeHQ)

    • It depends. If the inverters are compatible with HA, evcc (which most are nowadays), OCPP chargers can be controlled by them. Tesla vehicles can also manage their own charging with a dumb charger. This works locally, without needing 3rd party subscription or monitoring device.

    • It has OCPP so doesn't need the module.

      • In my case I don't have the energy meter with my Goodwe inverter, so I can't do solar only charging without it.

        • Ahhh yeah in that case you would be out of luck.
