Has Covid Weakened Our Immune System?

Do you feel that after covid your immune system is not what it used to be?

I'm just asking as I've been infected with covid twice back in 2020 and 2021. I've also had 3 doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

I don't usually get colds/flu but ever since covid, I feel I'm getting sick more often and the symptoms are also more severe.

This year I've sick with colds on 3 seperate occasions. My last infection had really bad symptoms and completely knocked me out for a good 5 days. The intensity of symptoms I've had never experienced before, and recovery took way longer than when I did get colds before covid.

Well she certainly unleashed it en masse on the country via Ruby Princess, then she sed rank negligence to infect Newmarch House while infected aged care staff were allowed to work in multiple facilities. She should have been sent to jail for both of those deliberate decisons. She ignored the aged care situation the entire time as people lost their loved ones. Disgusting. One of the most overrated ,over-protected people in the western world.

        • She ignored the aged care situation

So did the federal government, it is their jurisdiction. St Basil's in Victoria was another horror show. No one listening to the people on the ground, no one wanting to put resources into a response, trying to ignore things to not get politically tarnished.

Imagine how much freedom we could have had and taxpayer money we would have saved (not to even mentioned the lives saved) if we had just done Fortress Australia early enough and right.

In saying the above, I do also completely get how it was fumbled. Leadership at every level in this country has so much personal ego attached to it. Hard to make the right decisions when everyone is telling you, you are wrong and you get so personally wounded by it.

          • -1

@serpserpserp: There's a new book out that specifically discusses the covid pandemic response and things to do and not to do next time.(based on the responses last time) . It notes that hindsight is a wonderful thing and the knowledge at the time was limited. Noted. However Berjiklian had all the info in front of her to stop the spread, avoid deaths and limit infections over those 2 massive incidents. She (SHE) made decisions with days of evidence in her face and still put ppl in harms way unnecessarily.
St Basil VIC may be be the same scenario, but a shipload of live infections into our biggest city and a conveyor belt on infections across a cities aged care cluster is totally negligent to the point of prosecution IMHO.

    • Definitely not a Sydney virus. However, I don't feel it at all, my immune system is the same as before. No issues here and I got COVID at least once if not twice that I know of. I only got 2x shots to be able to work though, I refused to get the boosters as they were identical to the original vaccines and did not protect against the new strains so there was no point. I think the placebo effect is strong, people are happy to blame anyone else for any issue in their life. Especially if it comes with law suits and they can get free money out of it.

          Flucelvax ® Quad
          Active ingredients:
Each 0.5 mL contains 15 micrograms of influenza virus fragments from each of the following types of influenza virus:
          • A/Wisconsin/67/2022 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus
          • A/Massachusetts/18/2022 (H3N2)–like strain
          • B/Austria/1359417/2021-like strain
          • B/Phuket/3073/2013–like strain
These strains have been recommended by the Australian Influenza Vaccine Committee for the 2024 Southern Hemisphere winter.

          Other ingredients:
          Sodium chloride,
          Potassium chloride,
          Magnesium chloride hexahydrate,
          Dibasic sodium phosphate dihydrate,
          Monobasic potassium phosphate,
          Water for injections

I randomly selected a flu vaccine from the TGA, linked from health.gov.au
          https://www.ebs.tga.gov.au/ebs/picmi/picmirepository.nsf/pdf…

Could you help me understand which ingredients I should research in more detail? I checked a few of them and all seem to be well tolerated in much higher doses than would be found in the 0.5ml of vaccine administered.

          • -5

            @Dr Ginger:

Could you help me understand which ingredients I should research in more detail?

From the 2020 product info sheet.

"Flucelvax ® Quad is prepared in MDCK cells, adapted to grow freely in suspension in culture medium. The virus is inactivated with ß-propiolactone, disrupted by the detergent cetyltrimethylammonium bromide and purified through several process steps. Therefore
Flucelvax ® Quad may contain traces of propiolactone, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, and polysorbate 80 (refer to Section 4.3 CONTRAINDICATIONS). Eggs are not used in the manufacturing process, therefore, Flucelvax ® Quad does not contain egg proteins."

Just in case you aren't aware, "MDCK" is a kidney cell line from dogs. Flucelvax has not been evaluated for genotoxic potential, or carcinogenic potential. Neither has it been assessed in clinical trials in regards to pregnancy.

Just in case you are interested, the 2000 Simpsonwood conference transcripts on vaccine safety is here:

              @mrdean:

"MDCK" is a kidney cell line from dogs.

What is wrong with this? Caffeine is a insecticide. Yogurt is bacteria growing in milk. Cyanide is found in bitter almonds. The source of a substance says nothing of its toxicity in humans.

Flucelvax has not been evaluated for genotoxic potential, or carcinogenic potential.

This is usually because cancer cannot be found as a result of interventions like this for decades, so the research usually happens post-hoc after initial research to show that there is no known mechanism for genotoxic potential.

There are also lots of things that we interact with on a daily basis the have been found to have carcinogenic potential. Grilled meat, car exhausts, first (& second) hand smoke, and alcohol. But we still chose to interact with them as we have made a decision that the benefit out weights the potential risk.

Neither has it been assessed in clinical trials in regards to pregnancy.

I guess if I am pregnant I should check with a medical professional before taking a vaccine if I am pregnant

Just in case you are interested, the 2000 Simpsonwood conference transcripts on vaccine safety is here: https://archive.org/details/TheSimpsonwoodDocuments

This was a conference is regards to the use of thimerosol in vaccines. This has not been used in the majority of vaccines in the 1st world since 2001. There has been no observed drop in the rate of neurological problems in children since the removal of thimerosol.

How is a document relating to a 2 decade old conference on a removed ingredient relevant?

                • +9

                  @mrdean:

The virus is inactivated with ß-propiolactone

But it is not an ingredient that appears in a high enough amount to even list as a trace amount. If water passes through a filter to you list activated carbon and resin as ingredients if they are untraceable in the final product?

Repeat after me, doc. "The dose makes the poison."

This is my point. The dose of anything in 0.5ml taken once a year has to be very toxic to cause significant effects.

              • @Dr Ginger:

                What is wrong with this?

Doses make the poison, plus it's injected directly into the blood stream

                • @frewer: I asked "what is wrong with this" in regards to the "dog kidney cells". The cells are not directly injected into the blood stream. The virus is grown in the cells, then processed.

I put a list of the ingredients of what is injected above. What from that list is in a high enough dose to make it poison?

                  • @Dr Ginger:

The virus is grown in the cells, then processed.

"Our common vaccines are produced in incubators containing monkey, chicken or human cells.
The vaccines we inject are filtered from fluids in these incubators. As certain viruses are wanted in the vaccines, no particles of the same size or smaller can be filtered out. There thus remain in the common vaccines numerous other viruses, foreign proteins, residual segments of DNA and RNA,
toxins, enzymes and possibly prions and oncogenes. It has proved impossible to remove these contaminants. This is well known to the regulatory authorities, greatly concerns many of their experts, but these very serious concerns are not communicated to the public."

The above is what real investigative journalism uncovers. It is unfortunate that none of it made it to the mainstream. Jan/Janine Roberts is dead (she broke the "Blood Diamond" story), the last thing she worked on were two books on vaccines/germ theory.

                  • @Dr Ginger:

What from that list is in a high enough dose to make it poison?

Idk, it's up to each individual to find that out… depend on the person's health, history, genetic, etc. People died from drinking too much water shrug

        Probably no longer breathing

      • Do you know what the death rate was before vaccines vs after vaccines? It was in the millions, we were getting a kill rate of like 3-4%. After the vaccine, the death rate dropped by about 12x. We all know what happens when global pandemics like polio, the Bubonic plague, small pox & the Spanish plague were left to run unchecked (100 million+ dead). Thank your lucky stars for vaccines as you/at least one of your family members would probably have died without it regardless of whether you took the vaccine or not. The fact is, they stop the spread/reduce the severity when it is caught. Just because we're not smart enough to make a magical cure all for 100.00% of the world's population doesn't mean it doesn't work.

      • Old people with poor health get more shots and are likely to be hospitalised. Amazing.

      • -1

The unvaxxed have probably have better immunities because they have been exposed to more diseases. However, they have also died from nasty diseases that the vaxxed wouldn't have. So if you're alive and not crippled by a virus, good for you. The rest of us prefer to deal with minor colds rather than be bed ridden, crippled or dead. I take the flu vaccine every year and my immunity is top notch. I haven't taken a single day of sick leave for 4 years.

        • I haven't taken a single day of sick leave for 4 years.

          • @Vasilly6: I think what he is trying to say is 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger'. I think.

      • Another riddle!

People who seek out a vaccine voluntarily generally have a good reason to… like being old and frail and prone to illness.

Did the peer reviewed study you quoted control for any of those factors? If not why are you drawing a conclusion that the authors themselves did not?

So maybe we should disseminate the CAS into people's bloodstreams.

More humans + more mutating viruses = more virus events per person. It's here to stay, and grow, so long as we keep pumping out hosts for viruses.

Caught Covid after first 2 shots which was not a good experience, but I got through with Prednisone that was marvellous and stopped the cough reflex to help me breathe. I did not go to hospital as was more concerned about catching Flu or RSV there.

Now advised once a year Covid booster, same as Flu shot, is recommended. Not had any adverse effects from any of these vaccines.

Never had Flu and years since catching a cold. I take vitamin D daily, which is supposed to help your immune system before, during and after any of these.

  • +6

During the COVID pandemic period the change in behaviour resulted in people not being exposed as much to the common viruses. Which resulted in immunity to them fading. Now people are back to their pre-COVID behaviour those common viruses are back in circulation, with mutations, and immunity to them is weaker, and having to be re-established the hard way, by catching them.

    • +2

      Ever heard of T-cells?

      • +3

T-cells? I know how much bigger a D-cell is than a C-cell, and a C-cell is than an A-cell, so a T-cell must be huge! Are they the ones Tesla uses in its big batteries?

It's the part of the immune system that activates to turn you into a zombie. /s

In seriousness it forms the part of the immune system which activates the immuno response.
Your body doesn't just endlessly produce "anti-bodies" on the off chance that you'll get infected by something. Anti-bodies are disease-specific and are produced as a result of ongoing infection. The T-cells are responsible for determining if an infection is occurring and what needs to be produced.

          • @smalltime0: Good Explanation.

In seriousness it forms the part of the immune system which activates the immuno response.

You know, there is such a thing as the circulatory system (blood vessels), nervous system (nerve fibers), skeletal system (bones), lymph system (nodes), digestive system (guts), all of which can be identified physically, say for example in surgery, or via anatomical dissection.

Can the same be said for the "immune system"? If not, then is it just a construct built to attempt to explain various observed effects?

            • +2

@mrdean: Not sure what point you're trying to make.
You can isolate and identify T-cells, their origin and what they do. They form part of a "system" that we call "the immune system" since they combine various parts to make an identifiable system working in concert.

People don't get sick by absorbing miasma and then get better by applying the correct vapours. If that's what you're claiming.
