    Philipines is cheapest .

    PHP 6,930 (~A$184)

    • Was about to comment this. Though even with VPN on, when I click on "Become a member", it takes me back to Australian pricing

      • +1

Shouldn't be taking you to Australian pricing if your VPN is working properly. Usually if it's not geolocating properly it will go to the US or some other country but not AU in my experience. Perhaps they're looking at the timezone in the browser or cookies?

        • That was on macOS in a private tab on Safari using ADguard VPN. Tried on iPhone with same browser + VPN and it works there.

        • Yep usually Timezone or language locale or both.

      • Can anyone suggest good (ideally free) VPN software that you would trust with credit card info for this sort of thing?

        • Tunnelbear is free.

        • I have used tunnelbear with disposable revolut card.

        • +1

It doesn't matter which VPN provider you use, as long as your connection is through HTTPS, only the websites where you filled in you card details can know what you typed.
VPN providers can only know which websites you have visited.

      • what kind of bootleg vpn are you using? im guess its free.

    • omg. I signed up on the HK pricing already :(

Will update the post to reflect your awesome tip! thank you!

    • @neil which vpn are you using for this? i'm using nordvpn and failed at the payment checkout for cookie issue? anyone else successful sign up with Phillipines one, which vpn are you using? Thanks

      • +1

Clear cookies and try again. I used nordvpn and signed up without problem.

        • +1

          thanks, it works, cheers

        • I get the cookie issue on my ipad and iphone - I have tried to clear/accept all cookies but still wouldn't let me make payment :(

  • +2

Do you have to make a new membership or can you connect Australian one?

    • +3

I just used my existing account (Accor Live) to upgrade to the Accor Plus plans.

      • Great!

  • Does this still give you 20 nights for status?

    • +1

Yes, I actually signed up to this and did get the nights.

    • Will the 20 nights be able to be added to my existing Accor Plus account (free through Amex Platinum)?

      • you can only have 1 Accor Plus membership to a single account. You can't add another one unless it has expiry or near expiry.

  • +4

I let mine run over last time and they wouldn't let me pay at first and reached out to say it would be in AUD. Told them to cancel and they changed their mind and said HKD was fine.

    • +5

they changed their mind and said HKD was fine.

      I lol'ed.

    direct link
    https://www.accorplus.com/hk/benefits/?utm_source=others&utm…

it's 1700 (~$320) with explorer (free night) + supplementary Traveller membership (no free nights)

The extra $100 means we get 4-for-2 food making the buffet brekkie cheap for 4 people.

    • +2

Would you be better just buying an Explorer membership each so you get 2 free nights for about 2 x $208 ?
(assuming you can make use of the 2 free nights)

      • +1

certainly would if you'd use them. we often stay somewhere cheaper and use the breakfast benefits.:-)

        • Hi, how do you use the breakfast benefits without staying pls?

          • +1

@Cf2024: Stay somewhere cheaper but rock up at Accor hotels for their half price buffet breakfast 🙂

            • @b0b0: Good tips. Thanks

            • +3

@b0b0: Geez unless the Accor hotel is right next door, I'd rather just go get a cheap breakfast somewhere. I mean it isn't like the Accor breakfast buffet is the Shangri-la buffet, it is pretty average in most spots.

              • @serpserpserp: after discount they are just ok, have to pick your restaurants and you are paying for convenience, usually not worth it to make a trip just for one. but have gotten seafood buffets with fresh oysters/sashimi etc at half price which works out quite reasonable

                • +1

@May4th: Yeah I think dinner might be the best option. Breakfast, not so much!

              • +1

                @serpserpserp:

it isn't like the Accor breakfast buffet is the Shangri-la buffet

Accor own Raffles and the Savoy so it can be…

                • @1st-Amendment: But it isn't in real life.

Bit like saying Jetstar might be like Qatar/Singapore airlines because it is owned by a company that also has Qantas as a brand.

                  • @serpserpserp:

Bit like saying Jetstar might be like

Not at all. Jetstar is the child brand in this instance, not the parent company as Accor is. The analogy does not work.
Accor has luxury brands and mediocre brands, the luxury brands are of Accor such as Raffles outrank Shangri La

              • @serpserpserp: it depends I suppose. My kids love a buffet brekkie, they well and truly get $40 to $50 worth of value out of their breakfast. Us adults do too. just a simple omelette + bacon or eggs + hash browns or pancakes & a coffee/milkshake/juice at a cheap-eats is $25-$30.

when you add several omelettes, half a dozen rashers, some browns, snags, pancakes, several drinks, fruit, toast then wrap up some muffins, cakes, etc, + a drink to take away, you're getting pretty good value, especially because you don't need lunch.

we've found Sofitel on GC & brizzy, Novatel Southbank brisbane, Pullman in brizzy cbd & airport all quite decent.

  • Just to understand how this works, I can sign up and it offers 1 free night on the explorer plan?
So say for example I want to book a room which costs $559/night, by signing up to this I'll only pay $208 which is $351 cheaper than booking the night direct with the hotel?

    • +2

On the rather large assumption that you can book that room for free, yes.

    • Accor plus stay plus night is not available in all Accor hotels and all room types, usually best value is redeeming for 5 star hotel like Sofintel which is around $450/ night

      • Thanks, the hotel I'm looking at is Pullman Tokyo Tamachi

        • +1

Probably need to ask someone who has stayplus not used yet to go a search, you also need to provide the date you want to stay and see if it’s available

Sorry I have used my stayplus already this membership year so I can’t help on the search

        • +4

Let me know the dates and I can check availability for you, I still haven't used my benefit.

          • @LeonardoTenInchy: Great thanks! Looking at 13/12/24 - 14/12/24, 2 adults 1 child (7 years old).

            • +2

@Heybargain: No availability on the 13/12 unfortunately.

              • @LeonardoTenInchy: thanks for checking.

              • @LeonardoTenInchy: Sorry 2 more, could you check Mercure Tokyo Hibiya please?. Same dates.

                • +1

@Heybargain: Only December availability currently is on the 9th and 10th.

                • +1

@Heybargain: Stay plus not available there for that date either

                  • @yasminew9: thanks for checking. would there be any hotels in Tokyo available for this date?

                    • +2

@Heybargain: The Ibis Style Tokyo Ginza - standard room with 1 double bed (assuming the expectation there is a rollaway bed for the 7 year old). Ibis Styles Tokyo Bay- Standard Twin 2 single beds. or Superior room 3 single beds (additional $41 for the triple). That's it unfortunately

                    • @Heybargain: The Mercure Haneda is $132 for a night as an Accor plus member, very nice hotel and comfy rooms, 5 min walk to train and good locale for eating etc, also very quiet. Did my second stay there a few weeks ago.

                      • @markis10: Are you able to check availability for 13/12-14/12 please?

                        • +1

@Heybargain: Dont have any free nights to use, after 20 years of membership found the option of no free nights a better membership offer, and if the Mercure Haneda is $126 wouldn’t use my “free” night if I had one

                  • @yasminew9: Would you be able to help me check if there are any stay plus hotels available in Tokyo on 25 December 2024 please?

                • +1

                  @Heybargain: Hey mate

I stayed there earlier this year (with the one free night) and I would strongly advise you to avoid it. I believe it was a refit of an older hotel and it was just bad. Décor was intended to be dark but lighting was also not bright enough making the bathroom in particular a bit dangerous. The shower head was also old, with inconsistent pressure and worst of all, inconsistent heat (sometimes normal, sometimes scalding). They just didn't do the fundamentals right (clean, good bathroom, good ergonomics, good use of space) which in Japan is a low bar because Japanese hotels hold themselves to a very high standard but this is one was such a disappointing experience.

Honestly, I know I had a free night (I stayed 2 nights and regret it) but I'd much rather pay $100-$150 night for a standard business hotel instead.

            • +1

@Heybargain: Have a look at Mercure Haneda we stayed there back on March and found it to be great value for money at around $150/day for a king bed room. The rooms are pretty large for a Japanese hotel and it's relatively new too. It's about 2mins walk from the closest train station and about 20mins train ride to the heart of Tokyo.

              • @BlitzR: Thanks for the tip! Now need to find someone who can check the dates for me :)

    • yes, but the days are limited. its not available every night. if you have flexibility and its a long time from now, then you are fine. if you need a specific date soon, forget it.

  • Does anyone know if it's possible to search for hotel free night availability before signing up?

  • Can I book a free room at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore with this? :P

    • +1

Ask here once you know the dates:

    • +4

      I thinks that’s not a Accor hotel?

    • it's not an accor hotel. the most premium accorsin sg are the fairmont, sofitel and swissotels but not available either when I tried

      • What are some premium Aussie hotels that have good free night availability? This free night business sounds harder to book than a business class qantas frequent flyer points ticket

        • +1

it's not too hard as long as you book a few months in advance and aren't fixated on friday/saturday nights.
Sofitel is usually the highest tier in Australia, Pullman/Sebel/Mercure/MGallery are decent too. Hotel matters, some are dated, some are spanking new (like Sofitel darling harbour vs Sofitel Wentworth)

  • My Explorer Plus membership expires end of this year, hopefully half price promo pops up later!

    • usually 50% off is around Feb

  • +1

Hi does anyone know of secondary membership also has free 1 night stay please? Thanks

    • +1

no, only the normal benefits like dining etc

  • my vpn is through Norton and I can't select Philipines for this, but I can do it through Hong Kong. When I put in details, can I put in my normal address and phone info and will this work?

    • Yeah, your Aussie address works fine.

      • and I can just use this normally as if I had one through the Australian deal?

        • Absolutely. I have used it at several Accor hotels. It's just an app that you install and use the digital card in the app. You also get perks via the booking portal.

Be warned though, the app and website has a pretty crappy user experience. . You will require patience :)

          • +1

@the-rabs: damn, when I go to pay it says I am registered in Australia, so I can't do it

            • @souths123: use a different email address

              • @JohnSy: yes, I ended up doing that. At first I thought that wasn't going to work either, but I ignored the warning box and hit next and that time it worked. Pity I couldn't use the PHP one as that was cheaper, but I just used my norton VPN which didn't show that as a geolocation I could select. Had to to HK instead. Still a saving of nearly $60, so I'll take that.

  • My VPN doesn't have Philippines. Any recommendations for a one of low cost VPN provider to get into Philippines?

    • +3

Tunnelbear is free and has PH last time I looked.

  • Which countries offer the 2 night version? I know Indonesia used to……

  • +1

I get to the step where it says the cost, but then it says I am registered in Australia, so have to go to the Australian site (this is through Hong Kong geo location on Norton VPN) Any way to get around this? Obviously I have to put in my Australian info. I have an ALL account, but even when putting a different email address, maybe the address is flagging it?

    • Same here. I previously signed up to Accor 2 years back

      • seems if you already have ALL here, the address might flag it so you can't join via VPN?

        • The address doesn't matter. I signed up for a Malaysia and Philippine one this time both used the my Australia info.

    • +1

You can only use a new email to sign up a new account as your accor account is based in Australia. Mine was a Malaysia one and had the same issue so I just signed up a new one with a different email. You can combine your accor plus and your old accor account. I did this with both 2 accounts are AU based, but haven't tried with 2 accounts are different regions.

      • How do you combine? Reach out to accor support?

        • Yes. On the website contact form.

      • I tried with a different email address and it still came up with the same issue

        • Probably clear cookies and start all over.

          • @Micky14: I got it to work with the other email, just ignored the warning box and went ahead with the purchase (It wouldn't let me do it with the email on my ALL account, but that is ok, as I have never actually used that account anyway.

      • +1

oh. So I need to use a different email address then asked for it to combine with ALL account?

  • According to CS this expires on 27/09/24.

Also, does anyone know how we can change the country to Phillipines, I previously used the Malaysian deal. Chat wasn't too helpful.

    I'm getting the following error:
