  • and the price?

  • It's a "cheap international holiday" sale!

  • +19

Be quick closing register 3 .

  • +8

Hmmm, near the beach bit a bloody long walk to the beach because Club Med Phuket is in the way and has walled gardens.

Have a look on Google maps before you book this.

    • +1

Yes!, this is the biggest pain point of Kata beach! Very annoying.

    • +7

Dates for this deal are in the middle of rainy season when it's generally not advised to swim at the beach anyway (due to rough seas, jellyfish and poor water quality).

    • so even with the bus transfer the walk is a long way? bus doesn't go direct to resort?

      • so even with the bus transfer the walk is a long way?

Not sure what your question is, a 'transfer' usually means between airport and hotel, which is included. If you want to go somewhere from your hotel, such as the beach, or markets etc then you can walk, catch a taxi, Tuk Tuk, hire a scooter, all sorts of options.

        • I thought they meant Club Med Phuket was in the way going to the hotel but looks like it's just the beach

    • +3

I've been to Phuket 4 times and never been interested in going to the beach.

      • +1

I've been to Phuket 4 times and never been interested in going to the beach.

Have you been to Kata though? Patong beaches are crap, but Kata has nice beaches, especially the south end where you get a decent (by Thai standards) wave that you can surf.

      • +3

        what do you usually do?

      • +3

agreed, beaches in Oz are much better! Stayed at a resort for 10 days at Kata beach but only went once to the beach for a photo, then left

    • +10

a bloody long walk to the beach

It's a couple of hundred metres to the beach which any able bodied human should be able to manage, and it's $43/night.

    • I've stayed at the Chanalai Romantica pretty much right next to it and it's really not that long. Less than 10 minutes.

  • +2

Bought. Aldi, you better start selling flight tickets, soon!

      • Maybe they will bid on Rex

Did you not read further down? I'd call it more of a "slight amused hour" than a happy hour.

    This is NOT a deal.

    Aldi 2 people = $598

    Booking DIY- $598
Greenery room for 2 people is $72 per night. 7x72= $504
    Transfer to and from= $94
A free drink and massage is not much of a deal when they can both be had for a couple of dollars each.

    Booking DIY - $395
    Sea Breeze room $43x7= $301
    Transfer to and from= $94

Now, what makes this NOT A DEAL for ME is I don't trust that you wont unknowingly be staying in a Sea Breeze room.
The fact the they are the same size and look the same, to me, is just too fishy.

      Check-in 5/3/2025, Check-out 5/10/2025
      Min. 5 with Breakfast
$711 AUD and only included breakfast nothing else,

      Please share you pricing

      • +4

        Agoda.
        And that's without logging in.

I forgot to include breakfast above. That's an extra $5 a day. Or $2.50 each.

      • +1

        Check-in 5/3/2025, Check-out 5/10/2025

You're planning on staying for 7 months?

Assuming you meant 3/5 to 10/5 I can see it on Agoda for $53/night for Sea Breeze room or $74/night for Greenery room (both are 44m2 with terrace with breaky)

I normally don't do transfer unless it's a deal as a Taxi is normally 800THB each way which is about $35 (ie $70 return). So if DIY it, I'd be paying $335 all up.

        • +4

I wonder if I could say I'm working from home. lol

          • +3

            @Regie69:

I wonder if I could say I'm working from home. lol

Depends who your employer is, I've been lucky enough to do it before. The problem is that it's harder to get your mind into holiday mode when you're still working.

          • @Regie69: be very careful with this. either tell nobody and make sure your remote access solution is viable, or get approval well before.

    • The fact the they are the same size and look the same, to me, is just too fishy.

From what I can see, one is pool view, the other is garden view.

    • Are you telling me a holiday with an extra middleman is more expensive…

  • -7

Phuket.. no… safety is also important.

    • +2

      Lmao

    • sorry didnt get it….

    • +3

Give me Phuket over Bali any day of the week.

  • Tried looking but couldn't find it, and I couldn't see why not, but my partner is already in Thailand, would she be able to avail this deal?
edit: tried booking for one person and it forces you to pay for 2

    • *Solo Traveller
Single supplement available from $290 based on Land Only in a Greenery Room.

    • would she be able to avail this deal?

Cheaper to just book it yourself. Check Agoda for better pricing.

  • +1

Seems like a pretty ordinary deal. $299 PP, not couple.

    • $598 per couple then

  • +7

No wonder why people prefer visiting overseas then Australia where a insect infected motel asking $150 per night with a water of bottle costing $5 !!!

    • +6

Campsite to pitch a tent costs over a $100.

    • asking $150 per night

Bargain! Last time I looked they were getting up to $200-300/night for a basic room. This is why Thailand and Bali are so popular.

    • Damn, where you finding these 150$ motels??

      • -3

Damn, where you finding these 150$ motels??

He's not finding 150$ motels, he's finding $150 motels. The $ sign goes at the front of the number in case you've never ever noticed a price sign on anything ever before in your entire life.

  • +5

Plenty of nice resorts outside of Phuket too (try Khao Lak). We've had great holidays in Thailand and there alot of choices.

Remember, the main thing is you actually have a 'holiday' and not just have something cheap that doesn't feel like a holiday.

    • Great tip. Didn't realise Khao Lak was driving distance from Phuket Airport.

  • got kidnap in KK group

  • Not the worst place on Phuket - but close.

    • Care to elaborate?

      • +2

Not as convinient as Patong beach. Have to deal with the Tuctuc mafia to go anywhere. No Dairy Queen.

        • +1

Have to deal with the Tuctuc mafia to go anywhere

Just rent your own scooter for $10/day and ride wherever you want whenever you want.

          • +4

@1st-Amendment: Don't have a motorcycle license. You need have a license to be covered by travel insurance.

          • +5

@1st-Amendment: Dont forget insurance an international driver license. + potentially local license and a helmet. To avoid having to make a go fund me page for medical costs.

            • -4

              @icecold27:

Dont forget insurance an international driver license

Always have insurance, that is a no-brainer. International driving permit is a scam. I've driven in many countries, pulled over by many different police and never been asked for one. I'm pretty they don't even know what it is. A licence from your home country works everywhere I've been (Asia, America, Europe)

          • +1

@1st-Amendment: Not recommended anymore unless you just want to drive around that specific spot. Police roadblocks are now common place as you leave to another beach area.

            • @adventuremax:

              Not recommended anymore

              By whom?

I go there all the time and never had any issues.

Police roadblocks are now common place

The old police trick of scamming tourists who either don't have a licence or don't wear a helmet has been a thing for decades. This is nothing new.

              • @1st-Amendment: Its not the police thats the concern. Its the medical costs you would incur if you were to have an accident and require medical treatment.

                • @icecold27:

Its the medical costs you would incur if you were to have an accident and require medical treatment.

Did you not read the part about insurance already covered above?
If you're worried about stuff like that, you should probably just stay home on the couch instead.

  • +1

I didn't know Aldi has thing like travel packages. Can someone please have a look at this and advice if this is any good than DIY? sorry, i've never been to Bali, not sure how much is the flights and staying in hotel costs.

    • +1

Looks to be a reasonable deal. You'd probably be able to DIY your own trip for about the same money though. Just sign up for a Google Flight alert to find cheap airfares.
That hotel isn't that close to the beach, so if that's your thing, I'd look for something else (it does look nice though).
When in Bali, use Grab or Gojek apps for everything. Like a combined Uber/Uber Eats app and you'll save plenty, plus you can tip if you wish.

    • Stayed here multiple times, it's a great hotel. This deal doesn't look great though. It often comes up on Luxury Escapes.

    • It's pretty much the same as a DIY booking. I did some random dates in May. 15th to 20th. Agoda has it at $230 a night. So $1150. Jetstar flights from Sydney return are $570 for those dates. So $2290 for 2 people. So $2290 vs $2400 but you get transfers, lounge pass, a free dinner each and a daily cocktail. So it's up to you if you think those few things and only needing to book a single thing is worth the extra $110. If you aren't a frequent DIY traveller, it probably is.

Edit: Just noticed it's from Perth. So it's actually only $309 each for the flights. So it's not worth it at all, imo.

  • -2

Does this deal come with Methanol, or is that a separate price?

  • +5

Better start brushing up on your Russian, the place is practically an outpost.

    • i think you are referring to that area the russians have occupied in bali?

      • +1

They also infested parts of Thailand as well.

      • +1

Kata where this hotel is located is seriously 99% Russians

        • wow this is crazy stuff

and silly question but how are all these russians occupying these areas?
you can't exactly just get PR or whatever and just move to these countries just like that? or is it that easy?

          • @prankster: It's actually so popular with Russians that most of the signs on stores and restaurants now have a Russian translation on it.

From what i've seen and i could be wrong, they have 2 months visa free travel for Asian countries so they're able to leave Phuket to a neighbouring country and then come back. That, the weather, the proximity to Russia, and the war makes it an attractive place.

Not sure how they get around logistics for things like money and rent though.

            • @Chickenleg: hectic! it is what it is I guess but do these russians give a bad vibe or cause trouble?

              • +1

@prankster: Well from personal experience and trying to not sound too negative or like one of those "i'm not racist but" plebs - it's not that they cause trouble, it's that their mannerisms stemming from Russian culture can come across as very arrogant, for example they yell a lot, don't smile, or interact with other tourists in a friendly manner like Australians would for example.

It's also been reported in the media (so unsure how accurate or widespread the issue is) that there's a bit of anti-Russian sentiment from the Thais over the past few years from the dodgy ones exploiting loopholes and working or investing illegally.

    • +1

Recent report is that Russians themselves are complaining about too many Russians there!!
the place is overcrowded with tourists atm, so prices have gone up, and lines for a burger are getting longer,
high season finishes soon so should be good from there on.

  • +1

I'm familiar with this resort as I was previously looking at booking it and it's fairly standard "special" pricing, particular seeing as it's only valid during the low season and per person.

Most of the year you can get a voucher from Groupon for a 7 nights in a Seabreeze room for 2 adults $342 - same size as Greenery room just not on ground floor.

    • +2

@Chickenleg - User name half checks out " Sea Breeze Room: 7-10 nights stay: One-time Chicken Wing Bucket during stay".

    • Just checked on Agoda and same room is $53 (non refundable) - $55 (free cancelation) p/n with breakfast. 7n would be 371 - 381.

I would rather have the flexibility to wait for a upsized 10-11% cashback day to book, get the 381 refundable one and wait to see whether there are discounted flights by eofy before confirming. Works out even cheaper than groupon.

  • "Other surcharges & block out dates may apply during peak travel periods.". Anyone been provided these dates?

  • +1

Can’t wait till it has the red price sticker then it will cheaper

    • can you get a refund if not satisfied with the product

      • I assume you call them when your back under the 60 day return policy

  • -1

Phuket is pretty shitty imo. But yea it's cheap

    • Where;s the best alternative?

      • +1

        japan is the new bali/thailand

        • +1

Different style holiday. Does Japan offer beaches and resorts etc?

          • +1

@icecold27: Impossible. It's a group of islands . Seriously though, Okinawa is great. Winter is a little chilly for swimming though

            • @belongsinforums: Hmm yea, I mean i need a beach style hot climate holiday. Japan is abit busy for my liking at the moment

              • -1

@icecold27: Bali is more quiet than Thailand in my experience with much nicer and cheaper resorts. Downside is crap hotel food
