Is your code SPEC40FR eligible for cashback?

    • +1

Can Op please answer as this changes the appeal of the deal if No

      • Will love to know as well.as travling in next few weeks and this will come handy.

Also meed confirmation whether max cashback is in 20 USD or AUD

    • +5

Cashback cap is $20 AUD. Just bought the $20 USD plan but only tracked for $20 AUD in Cashrewards.

      • +2

        Same. Very misleading.
"Cashback rates are displayed in USD and will be converted to AUD"

        • +2

I paid $16 AUD and it is tracked as $16 USD and got $20 AUD.

    • I don’t think you can use that. It violates the unlisted coupon rule.

    • +5

Hi tresburrito, the cashback can’t be used with promocodes.

      • Thanks for clarifying

      • +3

Hi. I'd like to buy the 2GB Global plan for 100% cashback, two questions:

        1. Is it the "2GB for 15 days" plan you mention in OP?

        2. If yes, it's 17 USD which is ~$25 AUD, how do I get 100% cashback with a $20 cap?

  • +7

The cashback cap is USD or AUD?
    All your plans are USD

    • Good question

      • Cashback rates are displayed in USD and will be converted to AUD at the corresponding exchange rate in your Cashrewards account.

        • +1

Can you please confirm whether this is based on ? Because just 6 minutes ago, someone said they only received 20 AUD cashback for a 20 USD purchase

          • -2

@PleaseNotChokey: Key questions, op just leave and go

          • @PleaseNotChokey: AUD 20 tracked for USD 20. I assume it won't change when confirmed.

          • @PleaseNotChokey: The cap is $20, so why would they expect to receive more than $20 regardless of the purchase size

          • @PleaseNotChokey: That is taken from the terms and conditions of the offer on Cashrewards' page.

Mine also tracked at 20 AUD instead of 20 USD, I believe this is an error (especially considering I apparently spent 38 USD according to CR but only spent 26 USD), I've already submitted an inquiry to CR.

    • +1

Since $20 is quoted on Cashrewards page looks like cap is AUD

      • +3

        It’s AUD. I bought it.

  • +1

    Inclusive or exclusive of GST?

  • +3

When does the SIM need to be used by?

    • Europe ones say 3 months from date of purchase?

      • 3 months to activate.

  • +7

Last date to activate without losing cashback? Asking because travelling overseas in Dec.

    • Me too.

    • @JessicaKraskoff?

      • +10

        JessicaTakenoff

  • +3

Can we claim multiple times or once per customer? Thanks

    • If you go through the link, CR says capped per transaction

        • Yes seems like it based on what CR is displaying

Otherwise they would have said capped per member which they have done in the past

  • Multi purchases ok eg 1 transaction for 2-3 eSIMs?

  • Is existing user eligible?

    • I have a physical Sim a awhile back.no sure if I can still use the physical sim

  • +7

Can change to the currency to AUD but even with the $20 cashback, I would still come out in front buying my esim from Saily for my Thailand vacation.
    Direct comparison example:
FlexiRoam 20GB (30 days) is $39.26. With the cashback offer that then takes it to $19.26
Saily 20GB (30 days) is $17.99 without any offer.

    • +5

Lol, you meant to just grab the free Sim, not to do a business analysis on them.

  • Does this stack with the free 3GB from Latitude 28 Degrees? Travelling to Japan in October.

    • +1

they are not stacked but they are separated plan
I think you can only have one activated plan at a time
but having multiple plans pending activations
eg. the Latitude 28degree one is called "Free Mastercard 3GB/15 Days Plan"

I just purchased Asia 3GB/30 Days and it shows as another plan in "My Plans" list

    • +2

Had a nightmare with the free Flexiroam SIM in Japan last year. Couldn’t get it working despite hours online with their chat (from free hotel wifi). In the end, 48 hours later both they & me gave up. Bought an eSIM instead

      • Not a good start to the holiday. I assume you bought an eSIM not from flexiroam?

      • Crap to hear that it didn't work for you. I used them in Japan and got the esim working. Was initially having issues but got it working.

    • +1

You can have multiple plans, so you would still be eligible for your Mastercard free data plan.

      • If you have multiple plans, does the data allowances stack, e.g. if you have 2x3gb 30 day plans in your account, and you activate both, do you seamlessly have 6gb? Or do you need to only activate one after the other is depleted?

        • Yes it looks like you can roll-over data

From what I gather the new expiry goes from the latest recharge.

          1. Members are eligible to extend the validity of their existing active data plans to the expiry date of their latest activated plan (same data plan) for amounts of data up to the size of the new data plan activated. (i.e. activation of 1GB plan will only allow a rollover of up to 1GB).

From my understanding, if you activate your 2nd 3GB plan, your plan will still max at 3GB rather than 6GB

          • @littlesoldier: My understanding is that say you have 3GB expiring on 30/9, and you activate a different 3GB/30D plan on that day, then you'll have 3GB from the new plan + 3GB rollover from the old plan = 6GB, all expiring on 30/10?

And, taking it one step further, you have 6GB expiring on 30/10, and you activate another 3GB/30D plan on that day, then you'll have 3GB from the new plan + 3GB (not 6GB) rollover from the old plan = 6GB, all expiring on 29/11.

Although looking at this link https://www.flexiroam.com/en-us/flexibenefits, seems like only the Global data plans seem to have rollover, and only the 1GB/7D global eSim is under 20 AUD, so maybe not that useful.

            • @Niaq00: after re-reading the FAQ I think you are right
the data left over in existing plan can be rolled over to the new plan
considering the data being rolled over is less than or equal to the new plan limit

so if you left over is 3GB on 30/9 and the new plan is 3GB, then you have up to 6GB to use in the new plan till 30/10
but if you have 5GB left over on the 30/10 and you activate another 3GB plan, then the new plan will still have 6GB up to 29/11

  • +47

I’m sorry but I’m negging this. The deal is so unclear and there are lots of very valid questions in the comments that aren’t being answered. You can’t just post an associated deal and then go AWOL. I’ll revoke my neg if the issue is addressed.

    Just checked with livechat
Plan purchased has to be activate within 3 months, otherwise the plan will expire

eg. Plan purchased today need to be activated by 21 Dec 2024

You can schedule a plan activation (eg. schedule to start on the 20 Dec 2024)

Can you use code SPEC40FR to get 40% off, only then it make sense otherwise cheaper option to get esim via klook for thailand

  • Where's OP? @JessicaKraskoff - can you please come answer some questions for the advertisement you posted on ozbargain?

  • Does the Asian or Chinese one bypass the China Firewall?

  • +4

Yeah nah! Klook offer eSims for a few dollars, you don't have to jump through hoops and wait months for cash back….which at times doesn't track and then there's that to deal with too!
5GB for 15 days for $6 on Klook (Indonesian esim)

  • -1

There's a $10 delivery fee for the physical Sim starter pack that I can't seem to remove at checkout? Any luck with this?

    • You need to select from the dropdown menu at the top to confirm eSIM compatibility.

    • Where are better rates?

        • Thanks! Definitely does look cheaper! I went with flexiroam as they had the better deal after cashback last time.

        • +1

I think the Amaysim one is for international calls and texts from Australia. I don't think it includes international roaming

          • @triviums: sorry you're right. I have removed my comment as OP has confirmed the SPEC40FR code can't be stacked.

  • +1

Warning to anyone that when I used Flexiroam for my most recent trip - they automatically add a coupon code at checkout - which would violate one of their terms and conditions.

Cashrewards also doesn't track automatically so I had to submit a request - no idea if it'll get approved.

You can only buy for one account - you can't buy for your partner - they would have to buy on their phone. Customer service was helpful - after the fourth try repeating the same request. This was very stressful trying to sort out sims during a limited transit period because it took about what seemed like 10-20 mins for the eSim to start working overseas once landed.

No other issues - I would probably use again if their prices are decent without cashback. (atm it looks like Klook is really cheap!)

    • were you able to activate sim before travel in Australia?

      • Honestly I was really confused with the process and don’t think I did it successfully.

  • Anyone know if you can activate before you travel? Going on a trip at end of Dec.

    • same question here,

    • You can schedule a start date for when you will arrive at the destination.
But don't forget you also need to install the eSIM, and set data roaming on your FlexiRoam eSIM.

  • I got a Japan 30 day 20gb for aud$38.34, the $20 cash back tracked for $18.34; it beat the klook frenzy sale 20gb for $21.66.

Bit of a pain to wait 95 days for the cash back, but ~$1/gb works for me for the 10 day trip I've got coming up.

  • +1

I want to know if it's a one off $20 cap or if it's $20 per transaction as per the cashrewards website?

Does this mean I could make multiple purchases under $20 and still get the 100% cashback?

    • Same question here

      • Already answered by previous comments, but I've also personally bought multiple plans which I've gotten a confirmation email from CR for.

  • Damn, just bought 30GB/30 days for Japan from Travelkon last week for $40. ;_;

  • +1

FYI - Asia 3GB plan requires shipping ($9.90 USD) and I'm not sure why since it is an eSIM. Total IS $22.90 USD.

    • +2

I bought the same plan and got charged 19.75 AUD as it should be.Also got an email immediately with instructions how to install/active eSIM.did you choose ‘yes I have eSIM available in my device’ from drop-down at the start on the checkout page?

    • +1

You need to select from the drop down menu at the top to confirm eSIM compatibility to avoid the shipping.

  • Has anyone had any issues using Flexiroam? Tried using the global one offered by 28 Degrees but it didn't work.

    • Activating was a bit of a hassle from memory. Once activated, it depends on the country and the provider they use there.
For example, coverage is shite in Sri Lanka (as in you'll generally get 0 bars in Colombo let alone in rural areas). But that's because the provider they use there has about as much coverage as free wifi from Telstra payphones.

    • I don't recommend Flexi.
Bought two for for wife and I. Both had major issues activating and there's a huge lag on them responding. One Sim kept deactivating and suport was no help. I ended up checking out ozbargain and geting a different provider

    • Yep I got it working through that deal last year. Used it in NZ without issues

  • Bought an esim for USD 8.50. A "Starter Pack" was automatically added for some reason.
CashRewards is showing as USD 12.49 spent (A$17.79).
Credit card used is showing a transaction of A$12.54.

I have no idea why the Starter Pack is added or whether I'll get cashback.

I have tried to deal with this company once before and they just threw hurdles up all of the time.
If this works out, great, but I have my doubts.

  • +1

just purchased now, I'm in the Philippines and getting 160Mbits, was using sally but lucky to get 1Mbps, sally was useless, couldn't load maps etc. flexiroam is heaps better here.

  • +1

Ordering sSIM for China and require paying shipping. Why sSIM requires a starter pack?

    • +2

The very first question on the checkout page asks if your device is eSIM compatible. Answering Yes removes the physical starter pack

      • Got it! Thanks @wangasm

  • +3

In my experience FlexiRoam is the most expensive out of all the TravelSim companies.

    • +2

      Unless there's 100% cashback ;)

  • No more Cashrewards which owes me 3 boost orders and one Optus order.

  • I signed up for the 28 degrees mastercard deal and rather than just giving me the esim, they have been hassling me and now want a copy of the credit card and my id. This is after having been a customer of theirs for about ten years. Not happy.

  • All my cards keep getting declined. anyone having similar issues?

  • I have bought a couple of different plans, each 7 days.
Anyone know if you use the same eSIM on your phone and activate each plan or does each plan have its own eSIM?

    • do you get the cashback tracked every single transactions? Thanks

      • No I used the 40% off code instead

  • +2

May be OP lost network to their own esim

  • How long did it take to track for you guys
