  • I've applied for the credit card and registered for internet banking (got a Customer Access Number). Does this mean I've signed up to the everyday account and my $49 annual fee is waived, or do I need to do something else?? Thanks

    • Thats all you need to do, provided you registered for the everyday account first and then signed up for the credit card.

  • I've been approved and was seeing if anyone have any ideas on purchases? I was going to use this to pay my weekly rent, but reading the T&Cs it says BPAY isn't eligible as spend criteria.. I actually don't spend that much often so am now slightly worried that I won't be able to hit the spend. Loosely looks like I can get $635/month (geez, what a problem to have right?).

    Internet: $85 a month
    Phone: Work provided
Groceries: Could do.. about $500/ month
    Fuel: $50/month

If anyone has some suggestions I'd be very grateful!

Gift cards if you're struggling - no point making extra purchases for these promos

      • Where do you buy your gift cards from? For some reason, i thought gift cards did not count towards going to the minimum spend.

    • Prepay gym membership if you have one

Weird, first card rejection I’ve had for a long time (Bank SA). Above average credit score, only other card I have is an Amex with a 2k limit. I churn through cards but nothing ridiculous.

St George was also the only that rejected me so far and I apply for 8-10 cards in a year on average, no luck even after asking for a manual reassessment.

  • Just went for this card too. Seemed like a good deal as I’m a St George customer already and just cancelled my last Westpac card.

  • How long do the points take to appear after meeting spend?

    • Yep also curious. Met the spending criteria and had transactions settle 2 days ago.

      • Normally when you get in the next statement.

        • So if you meet the spend in the first statememt, the bonus points are awarded in the first statement? Can someone confirm?

          • @itzSTARSCREAM: Will update once i receive the points

          • @itzSTARSCREAM: I think it took roughly a week and a half for me to get the 103k Amplify Points. I spent the $3k spend as soon as I activated, then paid the debt off immediately.

  • Do I need to do anything prior to convert the 100k amplify to 50k velocity ?

    • Nothing prior, if you wish you can setup auto Velocity Transfer.

Do you simply pay the $3000 off the card so the balance is $0 and wait for points before closing, or do you Close the credit card account and pay it off? Sorry this is my first CC churn!

    • Make the $3k spend, pay off the period/'s and wait for the points to arrive. Sometimes it's worthwhile calling up and asking when they will be issued. Once issued transfer / redeem, close the card. Don't close the card before you get the points.

  • is this better value compared to the Amplify Qantas platinum? (since there is no $75 FF reward and annual fee makes it a no brainer?)

  • I actually got the card and spent some $4k
    1- Airbnb
    2- Qantas
    3- Amazon

My app still says 0Pts. How does points work? Like after spending 4k why do i not see anything at all? Any ideas?

    • The payments have to settle, but looks like they are awarded adhoc, not at the end of the statement period

Update - Received my 100k Amplify as soon as I had 3k settled. Didn't have to wait for the statement to close.

    • Update: I received 100,000 points today, even though it's not my statement date. Out of curiosity, what are 104,000 points worth?

      • +1

Hrm, why don't you go the their Rewards site and find out? Wouldn't that be easier since you already have the points?

        • I also just hit the minimum spent and can see the 100k points in the normal St George online banking site.

However I can for some reason not get the rewards portal working to redeem the points. It says that it wants to open it up in a new window but when clicking continue, it just logs me out with nothing else. Anyone else having this problem?

  • Annual fee back for existing customers? can't seem to get it to go to show as $0

    • Charged $49 AF as a StG existing customer, contacted support they have advised that it was a bank error and will be refunded.

Just a very big heads up they changed the T&Cs across all their cards (?)

Yeah I just noticed that tonight, guessing it must have changed very recently? Pretty sure it was still 12 months when I signed up to this a couple of weeks ago.

      • Woah, it's getting worse than NAB or Amex

  • +2

Careful, they’ve updated their T&Cs for this deal to now only be available for those without a card in the previous 24 months.

I’m unfortunately no longer eligible for this offer :(

  • Can't apply with an expired resident return visa, despite being a permanent resident. Bummer.

  • Got rejected despite of having home loan with them. Ouch!

Got approved for $550k home loan but rejected for a $6k credit limit credit card. The logic baffles me.

    • with mortgage they have your home as security?
Having said that the rejection logic for credit cards seems weird.

  • First rejection ever. $200k+ income, low expenses, small home loan, almost max credit score, only one other credit card that I've had since forever. Only reason I can think of are the three credit cards I churned earlier this year. Oh well.

    • Same with me. They have rejected me twice in last two years - regular churned CCs, but no problem approved my partner - similar income but not as much in the churning game as me.

    • Do we know a credit card provider that doesnt analyse you so heavily? I also keep getting rejected.. saying i dont service.. yet i usually meet the minimum incomes by far and can save a considerable amountbof money per year, have an excellent credit history too. Yet they say i dont service a credit card. Im too scared to apply for fear of being rejected.. yet i really need a credit card to help keep money in my offset account for longer!
      Any insight?

Got my points quick with this one. Have only had the card for 14 days but have already received and cashed out the points, and cancelled the card.

  • I kept getting “ Please try starting a new application. If the technical issue continues, please try again later.” error trying to apple thru the app/website. Has anyone else seeing the same? Can we hop in a branch to apply?

  • They take a while to process applications geez.
