$1650 off Samsung Galaxy S24 Series, Z Fold6 or Z Flip6 on $99/M 24M TGG Mobile Plan (New/Port-In, In-Store) @ The Good Guys

150

Similar to JB deal just $50 less credit off plan at TGG with same $800 early termination fee, may be a good option for those unable to get price match at JB to check if TGG will do it

S24 Series has bonus $200/$300 GC via redemption ask if eligible if signing up to new plan

I know how it has worked in the past. So don't jump down my neck.
However I do think TGG are trying to close the loophole.
They have attached these terms to the contract and when I spoke with TGG today they said you have to sign these now. It makes you pay back the full $1650 voucher.

    https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/personal/consume…

Not sure if people are going to get bigger bills this time through TGG.

Would like advice on these new T&C's from the community before going ahead.
Edit: has anyone confirmed direct with Telstra the early termination fee from a TGG contract?

thats interesting, was it there last deals, maybe should delete this deal if thats the case

Voucher Repayment Fee If you received a The Good Guys Voucher when you purchased your Mobile Service and you cancel that Mobile Service within any applicable Voucher Term, you must pay us the outstanding amounts for the The Good Guys Voucher you received for the cancelled Mobile Service (the Voucher Repayment Fee).
The Voucher Repayment Fee is a pro-rata amount, equal to the total amount of the base Voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by the months (or part months) remaining in your Voucher Term.
For example, if received a voucher with a 24month Voucher Term, then in: (a) (b) (c) Month 1: You will need to repay 23/24 of the Voucher you received; Month 12: You will need to repay 11/24 of the Voucher you received; and Month 23: You will need to repay 1/24 of the Voucher you received.
If you cease making payment for your Mobile Service under our Financial Hardship Policy, then each month during which payments are suspended will be added to the Voucher Term.
Where you are required to pay the Voucher Repayment Fee, we will issue you with a bill for the amount payable, which you can pay using a payment method of your choice within 10 days. If you don’t pay it within 10 days, then we will automatically deduct the amount owing from the bank account, debit card or credit card that you have nominated for your AutoPay payments.

      • I just looked at the JB deal and the same conditions are now showing on the website.

        https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/personal/consume…

I will be watching if people report bigger bills this time or if the Telstra fee is still capped at $800. If anyone has done it today through the TGG deal and cancelled please comment.

don't know about tgg, but with JB dont know how they can charge that if they haven't told anyone or showed them the terms while signing up

          • @RogueWolf: Yeah, it says on the JB version of the document effective 2nd July 2024 so I want to hear if anyone on the other deal got hit with the larger fee.

            • @valkeris: yeah looks unlikely anyone's paid it, otherwise the JB deal wouldn''t be so popular

          • +1

@RogueWolf: I specifically double-checked with the JB rep when getting the S24U deal if any future changes to TCs would apply retrospectively. He said no, which makes sense.

        • This TnCs doc has always been on the JB site.

Applying this TnCs document term, all mobile devices from the sign up can be refunded, and the full voucher amount (instead of $800 per FAQ on ozbargain).

"Voucher means a voucher which entitles you to the purchase of goods from JB Hi-Fi stores or, if you are a JB Hi-Fi business customer, a credit on your JB business account. "

Again, the confusing terms, and statements from JB Store (made up as they wish) is likely misleading.

This has been there since the time of Pixel 9 Pro XL deal that I availed. But was only billed and charged $766 something.

      • +3

Pretty sure those are same as JB. But not the ones signed by anyone. The voucher repayment maximum is $800 mentioned in CIS. Unless they get CIS updated to $1700, not sure how they can charge because it talks about base voucher repayment which appears to be $800 max.

Let see how it goes tomorrow

        • +1

Maximum voucher repayment is $800. No need to worry. I signed up today and it was confirmed by the salesman

  • I'm watching this keenly for younger brains input . This could turn into very bad publicity for TGG and good for JB .

    • That’s what parents want , let kids GG take the blame 😛

    • Tgg and jb hifi are the same company using 2 brands

Can confirm that if you cancel service you will only be charged $766.59. I signed up and canceled today. When I tried to claim the $300 gift card it said: Unfortunately you do not qualify for any offers. They refused to price match Telstra but I got this price. JB's deal is much better.

    • Same , i have raised a ticket with the support team

    • If you don't cancel today, would you get the gift card?

      • No, I cancelled the plan after about 8 hours.

  • -1

Prices will come down in coming sales of Black Friday, Cyber Monday and others. Why sweat now?

    • +6

Sure, but then with that logic when do you buy?

When S25 comes out? S26? In 10 years it'll be worth $0 perhaps that's when to buy?

      • Fair point. My Note 9 is still going strong, so I would rather save my money for now :)

Why is this a deal when Fold 6 on JB Hifi currently has $1650 + $300 gift card?

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-z-fold6-5g…

    • Where are you seeing $1650?

      • scroll to the right on the carousel under "don't miss out on these"

    • Does not stack

      • it does stack, similar to the S24 Ultra deal.

  • Tried today, but they mentioned i need to leave Telstra for 31 days to another provider otherwise the system won't accept it. Bought originally my plan with the S21 from Jbhifi but then moved to a telstra direct plan.

So time to move to Aldi mobile and wait for the next round

    • +2

You are only getting a deal if you cancel the plan anyway so just open a new account and new number. Then cancel and keep using your old number with the new phone.

      • I should have read everything properly, last minute dash, and saved by telstra :S

  • I have got a question.
If I get this phone with a brand new number sim card and cancel it tomorrow,
Can I still use this phone by inserting my original no.?
If I sign in with my original no. And cancel it right away, i might lose my no. Forever.🥲

    • Phone is unlocked and not part of the plan.

  • That was a quick one day deal only lol. Jb one was better

  • This deal has been replaced with $1450 off deal. Haven't applied for it yet so not sure if you cancel are you only charged for $800 ETF or the full $1450 voucher.
    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/mobile-and-broadband-plans#be…
JB have a similar deal with $1500 off and +$300 gift card - I had used their previous deal of 1700 off and can confirm you are only charged the $800 ETF ($767 for 23 months)
