Fair enough given age of units - anyone got ideas on how to sanitise/ clean down the Alcantara?

    • +19

      burn it with fire

    • +1

      Don't lick it.

    • +6

Toilet paper? It works on other hairy things…

      • +5

Sometimes when I wipe, I'll wipe, and I'll wipe, and I'll wipe, and I'll wipe… and I'll wipe. A hundred times. It's like I'm wiping a marker or something.

          Sharpie poo
          It's a thing

        • +1

He makes Aubrey Plaza break character 😂

    • -1

      Windows 10 anti virus

  • +1

Wow, that's a good price! What's the catch apart from signs of previous use on the keyboard? Where can we see photos of the actual product?

    • +2

      This is 8GB , i5. I saw i7, 16gb, 512GB sold for $500

    • +5

No catch, but these will soon be 5 years old and they've only got 8GB of RAM.

Price is about right if condition is good 🤷🏼‍♂️

      • Is the ram upgradable by ourselves relatively easily?

      • Good point, from my experience of purchasing a Grade A laptop from them. The condition wasn't anywhere near as Grade A with deep scratches that is clearly a used condition than refurbished.

  • guaranteed battery health?

  • +1

Any indication on expected battery health? These things are about as useless as racing slicks in the rain with a shit battery (and nearly impossible to replace them)

    • +5

As these are A Grade units they will have
      Minimum 80% battery

    • racing slicks in the rain

      This has its place.

  • Can these be docked and charged via the USB C port or will I need to use the surface dock for this?

    • +2

Yep, a USB-C (but not Thunderbolt) dock will charge and expand ports properly with this

      • +1

Thanks, you also say there is a 128gb option available for cheaper, but the one you listed and linked is the 128gb. Does this imply there is a 256gb somewhere for $375? Any 16gb deals?

        • +2

The 128gb is linked in the description. Main link goes to the 256gb

          No 16gb on promo sorry

          • +3

@Calmago: Thanks mate, in the main description of this post it says 128gb in the specs list but you're right, the links are correct.

    • +1

If you look on our web store we have the surface docks available as well.

    • Yes but must be 65W PD or better

  • +1

Is the RAM and SSD upgradeable?

    • +1

      No unfortunately

    • +3

7+ has the upgradable SSD. This is the last model that doesn't allow that.

  • Does this one have LTE also?

  • -1

    Shows $675 for me

    • +2

Got to use to code i think

  • +2

Insane deal if in good condition with healthy battery.

  • +4

For those who care, note that the firmware and drivers will not be supported beyond October 2025.

    • More detail pls? But it's legit windows 11 some this shouldn't be an issue should it, Daily use?

      • More details here. OS updates will continue. Shouldn’t be a major issue for daily use. Just make sure you use basic anti-virus/malware/firewall controls.

  • Any 14" deals

  • +1

I wonder if I should sell my surface pro 5 for $200 and upgrade this? Also if anyone know if this can connect to a monitor directly via the USB C port ?

  • Says out of stock when I check out?

  • Whats there to refurb in these, arent they a sealed case for life unit?

    • +6

Bitta hawk tuah and out the door they go

    • +3

Refurb is another word for Used. It doesn't mean any actual refurbishment has happened.

      • Misleading then really isnt it?

        • +1

It's perfectly normal for used IT gear.

I agree that it sucks - but that's how it is.

      • referb in IT would mean tested, cleaned and serviced where appropriate

        an ssd would be tested/formatted

a laptop would be opened, cleaned, thermal paste reapplied, tested with a fresh OS image

in both cases the best service would also include in important firmware updates

but just slapping refurbished on a used item without doing any of this is scamming, it's not normal and it should not be expected or acceptable

  • +6

Bought 2 surface from these guys..stopped working in 3 months .would not recommend

    • Really? sh1t?!!!! Well you have a 12m warranty so you sent back surely. I just bought the 128gb model as the 256gb was sold out.. let's hope it lasts for years

      • These are already approaching 5 years old - you might get years from it, but not very many.

  • My current surface. Bought in 2019. Still runs great. Perfect for any office or casual use.

    • +1

Still capable for your use and happy with it?

    • Occasionally use a SP4 got free with Microsoft code… in 2016! Still works well for my limited needs.

Considered an upgrade to this. But almost all is done on mobile.

  • says out of stock at checkout??

  • Oos, any more stocks op?

    • @Calmago

    • Sorry mate, just the 128 available

  • +2

The 128s are in stock but id like to see more than a $16 discount for half the storage!

    • -1

      Same here

    • -1

Same here. I also am interested in a 128

Buyer beware, They are known for over stating their conditions. Their Grade A is actually Grade B compared to other refurbished that you often seen from Graysonline, Apple, Sony, Dell, Eufy, HarrisTech and etc. Previously, I've purchased a laptop from them that is stated as "Grade A Refurbished" with ebay official Refurbished tag and paid over $100 more than their Grade B of same laptop. But the laptop condition wasn't Grade A at all with deep scratches at whole back cover and sides as well as marks and tiny hairline scratches on screen - it should be Grade B or used condition.
The price for this one is good but you may find a similar price at a better condition on secondhand sale. You may get lucky in getting a decent one but nothing but gambling about the condition with them.

  • Any 16gb or 32gb options coming up?

  • +1

For people who purchased, how was the condition of the laptop?
