Perhaps competing with all the Singapore Airlines deals on lately, Qantas has launched a sale to Japan with dates between October and July.

I've gone through their sale dates which are a pain to traverse, but anyway, this is roughly accurate, and I've sampled some dates in them - although cheaper may exist, I have examples of the best ones I've found below. Direct flights are available between SYD and Tokyo Haneda, and between MEL and BNE and Tokyo Narita, however, sometimes the cheapest flights aren't direct. You can use the filters to select direct only if required.

        a330 300 is a inferior airplane. an engine might fall out of the sky in mid flight. competitors all fly 787 on the same routes.

    Don’t understand how Qantas thinks it can compete with other airlines like Singapore, JAL or ANA. Now that it ranks 24, it still thinks it can compete with similar pricing. Seriously??? Qantas has a lot of catching up to do and seriously think of improving its standards.

      ANA/JAL only serve a couple of Aussie cities. There's the rest of Australia who would like to travel too. Singapore doesn't fly direct.

    The only pro from this deal is the direct flight, I took this flight just for this reason and it wasn’t worth it. Everything else is sub par; food, plane, service, also now flies from/to NRT if not Sydney. Qantas needs to up its game, I would much rather take a break in a connecting flight and use a better airline and fly to HND.
