  • SER7 Ryzen 7 7840HS same price with $340 off coupon https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B0CPDCNH4Z/

    • If the only difference is 7840hs vs 8845hs, then get the 8845hs based one. The 8845hs is basically a 7840hs with a slightly better NPU.

If the 7840hs version was somewhat cheaper, then it would be worth getting.

  • Can these AMD iGPU be passthroughed to multiple VMs like you can with some Intel iGPU? In proxmox. Like mediated device for the old Intel iGPU and VF for the newer Intel iGPU

    • Did you find out ?

From the time I've looked around AMD iGPU doesn't seem to have support for split passthrough.
However HDMI passthrough is possible - have the VM outputting to the physical HDMI port. The process can be a hit-and-miss and fairly complicated though.

I wonder if it's a supply and demand - the selling point for AMD iGPU is more as a low-end gaming substitute. So far no one has tried to make split passthrough
        work for the homelab crowd.

Even for Intel iGPUs the golden days of easy iGPU split passthrough with relatively easy procedure on ESXi/Proxmox seems to be behind us.

The VF based passthrough in Proxmox for 12th gen onwards is documented but seems dependent on kernel version updates. ie. some kernel updates breaks the VF passthrough. https://www.derekseaman.com/2024/07/proxmox-ve-8-2-windows-1…

Personally very sad about the current state (both Intel and AMD) as been wanting to upgrade my forbidden router box. But the difficulty to configure this in Intel 12th gen onwards is more onerous than I am willing to take on at the mo.

Perfect for an old age pensioner looking for value. Carpe diem, baby.

The reviews are not good on the RF side. Wifi and bluetooth issues due to metal design. Its mentioned in YT reviews and also on the Amazon page as well

The biggest issue with this unit appears to be related to RF shielding. The Bluetooth range is terrible as is the wifi range and there are lots of people reporting this in forums and reviews. There’s some suggestion that this is due to the use of a metal unibody enclosure to resemble a Mac mini and they haven’t tested it properly.

  • Will this play age of empires II??

  • Wow it can handle 3 separate different outputs?

  • what's the performance for space marine, wukong & cyberpunk on this machine?

  • I have a HP laptop with similar cpu for my work machine (AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS). I wish mine had 32gb of RAM. I only have 16gb and get close to that often.

But is a good chip. Would be a solid daily home or work machine.

  • For $70 more, prob this one is better:
    MINISFORUM Venus UM790 Pro Mini PC AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS up to 5.2 GHz 32 GB DDR5 1TB SSD with AMD Radeon 780M, 4X USB3.2, 2X USB4, 2xHDMI 2.1, 2X PCIe4.0, Wi-Fi 6E/BT5.3, RJ45 2.5 G https://amzn.asia/d/i8pIq8E

And I have used it for Valorant. It smashes it. General work stuff, browsing and entertainment use - I have no complaints. If anyone is looking for a mini PC and wants to game lightly as well. It is good. If you want to buy a PC primarily for gaming - then you can get something better in same or slightly better price

    • Tbh my 5600H gets 1080p/120 in Valorant.

    • What makes it better? On paper this deal looks better.

    • What O/S does this come with? Win 11 Pro?

An alternative for $799 (after $300 coupon): https://www.amazon.com.au/GMKtec-K8-Preinstalled-Windows-Com…

    • Great deal mate,OP's deal looks to have expired so this is about $50 cheaper as of now. Also two NIC's on this one so very handy.

  • Anyone knows typically what O/S comes pre-installed on these mini gaming PCs?
