  • I'm currently on the lookout for luggage and am interested in any reviews from OzBargain on SHOWKOO. I've been buying Samsonite and Antler for years but am gradually shifting away from these top brands. I'd like to explore new brands that offer more value for money.

good deal on these antlers though

ended up buying the antler clifton set instead of showkoo, i am a sucker for lifetime warranty.

My Antler suitcase handle just broke, would not recommended. Be aware the "lifetime warranty" does not cover:

    • Mishandling damages caused by airline luggage handlers or other travel operators—this includes damage such as rips, scratches, dents, cracks, sheared-off wheels or components, bent trolley handles and similar
    • General use or wear and tear (!)
    • Neglect
    • Accidents
    • Abrasions
    • Exposure to extreme temperatures
    • Damage caused by exposure to water, beauty products, chemicals, solvents or acids
    • Damage to any contents in transit such as cameras, media equipment, bottles etc.
    • Deliberate damage
    • Matching products, or items purchased as a set where a matching product is not damaged
    • Any luggage (whether manufactured by Antler or not) sold by resellers who are not authorised retailers.
    • Luggage sold “as-is”, “preconditioned”, “reconditioned”, “used”, “comfort return”, “returned”, “previously owned”, or any other similar wording indicating that the Luggage is not “new” or of “first quality “ or has previously been purchased or used by another consumer.
    • Combination lock issues caused by the incorrect setting of the lock, if you use the lock incorrectly, or if it has been forced open

Wow! The warranty designer outdid themselves there!

At this point, it's easier to ask what DOES it cover

        Stored unused in a wardrobe.

Can confirm their current warranty is rubbish. Broken zippers, and a handle across two Juno suitcases. Went to their recommended repair store (key cutter/cobbler). Line up of customers with Antler / Samsonite suitcases in front of me. I was happy to pay for repair ($85 zipper /$70~ handle) but quoted a 2-3 month wait for any repairs. I accept that these suitcases are now about 8 years old so happy to incur a repair cost.

Years ago their warranty was good. They shipped me 4 new sets of wheels while living overseas - at the time covered under warranty - and I happily replaced myself. These days, I doubt wheels would even be covered. I also do not accept that a 2-3 month wait is really acceptable - regardless if under warranty or paying for the repair.

They have continued to change & refine their T&Cs over the years (which isn't really fair, the terms offered when purchasing the product should apply for the lifetime of the product / relevant warranty period). Realistically anything can fall under "wear and tear". A very easy out for them.

    • If you buy with Strandbags, they promise 10 years warranty in the store. I'd keep a record of that, though.

What did you expect the warranty to cover. It covers any issues as a direct result of manufacturing faults. Anyone who expects luggage warranty to cover baggage handlers is living in dreamland.

If the suitcase breaks due to ordinary and expected use, i.e. travelling by plane, and within an expected lifetime, then it's not fit for purpose. You can go to the vendor and ask for a repair, replacement or refund. That's Aussie consumer law, and does not require any voluntary or paid "warranty"

        Best of luck with that…

        • +2

I had some good luck with using scary terms like "consumer law" and "not fit for purpose". When vendors realise you know your rights (and the vendors themselves usually don't), then they are much more likely to give in

    Thanks

What is funny is that if you get it directly from Qantas Marketplace, it turns out to be much cheaper.

    • Really - love to see some evidence to validate your claim…

      • I'm on mobile ATM but if you log into your acc. Go on Qantas marketplace, search antler and compare that to the antler link provided in this post.

  • You can always find these discounted somewhere on amazon, david jones, myer, strandbags.. this seems like a pretty ordinary sale.

    • 50% is ordianry???, must have 80% off then lol

      • come on no need to be dramatic. it's a 40-50% selected items sale. it's not 50% off everything.

        • +1

no shit, your implying seeing them cheaper
let me know when u see them for 60%
