What USB please?
1x usb a and 1x usb c cable end in the battery compartment for your favorite power bank.
Then there’s an usb a and usb c port beside the lock on top of the suitcase that connects to each particular port.
Its very good, works with my s23 Ultra, if you connect the 20,000 45w samsung beige power bank to it, the port will charge at 45w as long as you have a 45w compatible type c cable
where is the USB battery pouch? 20,000 watts might be too much for a carry on…..
Inside the suitcase. You just connect your powerbank to it and thats it and Na i always travel with that power bank.

Item Weight 2.3 Kilograms
Is that a lot?
Standard weight. Anything less than 2kg is considered light and more than 3kg heavy imo.
Is 82cm ok for international flight travel, not too large?
@SoylentGreen: 82cm probably too large for some domestic flights - check with airlines.
We are having to buy medium-sized bags since our large bags are now classed as oversized…about $150USD charge each time you check in and they deem it oversized.@McCloud: 82cm ain't carry-on size - I'm pretty confident about that … ;-)
our carry-on cases are more like 50cm long side
QAN/Virgin quote max 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm for one carry-on piece - smaller for two pieces - maybe 7kg max as well
@Hangryuman: My comment was more in response to the OP stating 81cm and then caution about checked luggage sizes.
For this price, I'd go with 2.1 kg at most. Not 2.3 kg.
Lots of 50% suitcases at David Jones. Ends tonight.
https://www.davidjones.com/Product/23250318?istCompanyId=b65…Going to Europe for four weeks soon. Would love a recommendation from anyone in terms of what size and which model to get
My go-to combo for a 3 to 4 week trip is an American Tourister Applite Medium/71cm, with matching 50 or 55cm carry-on. When moving around, the carry-on slips onto the handle of the larger suitcase making just the one unit to navigate with.
The American Tourister stuff, when bought on sale, is cheap enough to last a few years and then throw away. I travel for work a lot and have seen the damage that (Australian) baggage handlers can do, so I've given up on the idea of 'forever' luggage.
I'm not a fan of hard clamshell designs, they take up too much space in hotel rooms.
Really want this to be integrated with my samsonite but the handle is so small haha. Can’t justify throwing things out but would be nice to have a 2 in 1 since I seem to wheel it everywhere
This sort of combo looks reasonably compelling tbh. Please correct me if I'm wrong though, but from what I can see, both the 43cm underseater and 55cm cases breach e.g. Qantas and Virgin domestic carry-on size limits, at least if I'm interpreting their size limits as applying to each respective side.
- Qantas and Virgin domestic carry-on limit: 56 long * 36 wide * 23 deep
- 43cm underseater: 43 * 38 * 23
- 55cm (not expanded): 55 * 35 * 28
The 72cm also appears to breach both Qantas and Virgin domestic checked size limits:
- Qantas and Virgin domestic checked limit: A + B + C <= 140
- 72cm (not expanded): 72 + 47 + 31 = 150
- 82cm (not expanded): 82 + 51 + 33 = 166
Ideally I'd like a set like this that works for both domestic and international flights without any (potential) issues.
@tmr3: Hmm, I hear what you're saying. My Applite 4e Medium (71cm) sitting here next to me measures (including wheels) 69h x 43w x 27d for a total of 139. AT website says it is 71 x 46 x 31 for a total of 148.
Either way though, I did two overseas trips last year, and many many domestic - mostly Qantas, but also Jetstar and JAL - and never had them questioned once.
The Underseater 43cm is my go-to carryon for domestic work trips nowadays (I'm actually packing it right now for a trip tomorrow), but for O/S trips I use the Upright 50cm as carryon.
@guyvb: From the small amount of looking around I did, it seems like cases of similar dimensions are somewhat common. I guess if I have to go through oversized luggage, so be it! I opted for a 55cm + 72cm; I wanted both cases to have four sets of wheels. The 43cm underseater and 50cm seem like good options though!
JAL's size requirements are quite a bit less restrictive so that didn't seem like an issue, thankfully.
@tmr3: so … is what you're saying - that the US Samsonite specs don't meet Oz requirements ?
I'm considering BigW (Woolworths) stuff I saw yesterday -
$69 expandable soft black case 'Florence' 66L 2.75kg 67.5/41/24-29cm
$79 hard dark blue case 'Istanbul' 73L 3.1kg 65.5/43/26cm
$99 expandable hard lilac case 'Venice' 77-91L 3.5kg 66/42/28-33cm
we travel several times a year and tend to buy cheap bags we can toss at the first sign of damage - current case with failed combination lock lasted maybe 3 years - meh - cost maybe $65 last time
one benefit of frequent new bags is the technology improves each time - from old style two wheels to new 4 spinner wheels - Big-W $99 bag above has 'TSA lock' - not sure if baggage handler thieves would have that key … :-(
to that end - because I'm still happy with my yellow two-wheeler (doesn't roll away down slopes), I've just ordered a new combination lock on ebay for under $11 - easy swap with two Philips screws from inside - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/356566703743
40% off today. should have pulled the trigger yesterday
I am boycotting Amazon from today, cancelled my membership, small step for me, big step for a mankind (if we all do it)
Anit-Bezos, environmental damage, worker mistreatment? What is your reason?
He hates the low prices. Lol
I assume it's because Bezos gave the Washington Post (which Amazon owns) a directive that its op eds must be pro personal liberty and free markets, which many of the staff there probably don't really believe in. That said, I'm in favour of both of those things and it doesn't feel right when an owner interferes in editorial, especially after 10+ years of not doing so.
Of course, many argue that if a news brand is biased for other reasons eg the editor or senior managers only publishes op eds that align with their activism, it's just as bad. And that's pretty standard with almost all news sites now.
That said, at least then there's some mystery to it - Bezos publicly ordering WashPo to do something is not a good look.
Personally I prefer transparency and openness even if i dont agree or believe in the person / policies. Rather than the corruption and behind the scenes work that is going on with Governments and Media these days. Atleast this way people can make a truly informed decision on whether they follow or believe the media
Imo, that's a pretty dumb idea. It'd make a lot more sense if he just fired most of the WPost staff and rehire a group of people with actual diverse opinions. But considering they're headquartered in Washington DC, the singular state that became more blue in the last election (lmao), I sympathise with Bezos's lack of options.
I cancelled due to many items no longer delivered to our area.
Thanks for Sharing.
Polycarb?
My polypropylene luggage peeled off after 6 hours in the sun and Samsonite would not cover under warranty.
Antler 50% off (LIFETIME WARRANTY) Polycarbonate $150 for Carryon
https://www.antler.com.au/products/expandable-carry-on-lugga…
Yes, durable polycarbonate is a high-quality material for suitcases. It is widely used in premium luggage due to its lightweight, impact resistance, and flexibility.
Pros of Polycarbonate Suitcases:
✅ Impact-Resistant – Absorbs shocks and withstands rough handling.
✅ Lightweight – Easier to carry compared to ABS or aluminium cases.
✅ Scratch-Resistant – Some brands offer textured finishes to reduce visible scratches.
✅ Flexible & Durable – Can flex slightly under pressure without cracking.
✅ Weather-Resistant – Protects contents from rain and moisture.Cons to Consider:
❌ Can Get Scratches – Though durable, glossy finishes can show scratches over time.
❌ More Expensive – Higher quality than ABS, but often pricier.3 kg for a carry on?
Not much use of you can't put anything in it.
That's not too bad actually. A lot of premium suitcases (July, Away, Monos) are around 3.5kg+
This is 2.5kg, all the hard shell would have some weight, unless you spend more for Samsonite C-lite which is still 2.1kg
https://www.antler.com.au/products/expandable-carry-on-lugga…
Lite-shock is best @ 1.7kg
How's this compared to American Tourister from Catch around $70 ??
the 55cm samsonite upscape has type a and type c usb ports. they type c port supports fast pd charging.
Also interested to know if I don't need the USB ports.
Slightly off topic but still related to suitcases, does anyone have a recommendation on how to “lock” or apply “brakes” to these spinner wheels to stop the suitcases from rolling down the slightest of slopes or while on the train etc? I’ve seen so many people chase after their runaway luggage when they let go of them to grab out their purses or tickets etc from their handbag, or when using those travelaters at the airport and would like to avoid doing the same!
This unwanted “feature” makes me wonder why they discontinued the old two-wheeled luggage design, which I could leave standing stable on my sloped driveway while waiting for the taxi without fear of it rolling onto the road!
Muji suitcases all have lockable wheels.
If you need to retrofit it, then get something soft but firm (chunk of eraser, bit of foam), cut it do you can jam it into the wheel spokes
Or replace the wheels
yep I saw this in Muji yesterday - you press a button on top of the case (under the pull-up handle area) to engage the anti-roll lock - I think their suitcases are only like $400 each or something … ;-)
I much prefer 2-wheeled, wish they weren't so hard to find :(
More durable, take up less space, don't roll downhill.Suitcase companies love 4-wheeled though as they don't last as long
I've always wondered why on a train or anywhere that has a slope, people don't stand it on the long edge. There's usually small rubber feet on the edge side that doesn't have opening/zip, and a handle on the opposite side.
Makes sense to do this if letting go of it for anything more than ten seconds for me. Otherwise i just hold it with my legs haha
My Samsonite carry on suitcase is almost 20 years old and it is too heavy. I’ve kind of had enough trying to hide it from the gate agents during checking :D
This one might just do the trick :)
I have an old Samsonite and a new one just bought this year, the B lite model. The new model's make is noticeably poorer. You can see the seams and there are wavy surfaces. The zipper also feels wrong and rough as compared to the old one. So yeah, don't expect the same quality of make.
Yeah, I guess I have to have a hands on with one of the recent ones. Wouldn’t want to downgrade but I guess it’s impossible to have something similar as I have now and still around 2kg weight.
Also to note, the old B lite is 2.1 kg, the new B lite is 2.3 kg.
Saw the Renew 76cm and 57cm fabric two piece with USB passthrough for $300 at Costco. 4.15kg and 3kg.
Anyone know how to replace the wheels on one of these? I have one wheel a bit jammed from hair and it makes rolling it along a bit difficult
Plenty of instructions online but samsonite wheels can be tricky to match.
These are a similar price from Samsonite directly, but Cashrewards are doing an additional 20% cashback.
