imagine buying a chinese car being the smart choice over this

      • +6

        username checks out

  • +12

10+ Chinese EV brands arriving as we speak.
Probably going to have to sharpen the pencil a lot more than that, if they want to sell any.

    • -3

Hopefully they just eat into each other's market share, and not the established brands.

    • +3

Will hard for anyone to compete with Chinese EV brands. As their Battery Tech is far superior than most around the world and the amount of technology included with base models.

      • +9

        How is it superior?

I believe most other manufacturers use Chinese batteries/cells (CATL) anyway.

It’s because the Chinese government subsidies them, they have cheap labour and they can trash their environment without recourse.

        • Correct. Everyone is investing in China for battery tech and production, it'll be all the same.
EVs being relatively basic compared to ICE engineering means China can more easily compete though. Hence, USA and others blocking them.

          • +10

@FXx: I remember when Holden & Ford wereclosing factories here, the pro government subsidies said every country subsidies their car industries, US did the most, followed by EU.
Now Chinese EVs gained too much government subsidies, so they're to be taxed 100% tax in US &EU to maintain fair competition.
How much money did US & EU car industries make via their FAIR competition? Absolutely nofing.
US&EU can righteously do whatever suits them, but others are forbidden to do so.

@Jamesx: Spot on. And forcing Tiktok to sell ownership to the US just because they covert their algorithms by claiming they are dangerous?

They don't even bother competing fairly but act like a school ground bully.

Friends don't let friends buy Jeeps btw

            • +4

@Jamesx: Amount of misinformation being spread here is ridiculous.

China did the same for decades. You couldn't sell a car in China without tarrifs, unless you had a joint venture with a local manufacturer (in other words, hand over your intellectual property) and made cars in China itself. Tesla was the first car manufacturer to be able to build a factory without joint venture. But they still needed to build cars in China to sell in China.

Same thing with Chinese apps whenever there is a talk about TikTok ban, CCP fanboys will start crying how it is unfair and West is biased. But they never question CCP's China ban on apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp etc

          • @FXx: interesting though when in china most prefer to buy tesla's then byd and soforth.. only reason they buy the chinese ev's is because cheap. They are under no illusion as they know you get what you pay for.

            • +1

@Retarded Lunatic: I think BYD outsell Tesla in China comfortably. But yes, Tesla the superior product.

              • @FXx: Agree 100% they want to support local but they know exactly what they are paying for - by no means are they better then teslas locals know this.

    Maybe at 25k.

you would have to be absolutely mental to buy a jeep

    • +8

You. Rubbish quality cars. Unreliable and expensive to repair. Avoid.

      • It's not a petrol Jeep, it'll be fine, they're actually quite fun to drive and has received positive reviews. Good offering for the price.

      • +3

Owned a petrol GC and it never missed a beat.

        • +1

Likewise..got hemi gc demo since 2k11 and no issues at all…all recalls attended to by FCA.

    • Or under the thumb… 'My wife wanted one'.

      • +2

Because her WFH hairdresser has one.

        Poland is the European China

        • +6

shifting the goal post now are we?

          • +3

@dukeGR4: Shifting the pole ghost now are we?

  • +6

    I wouldn’t buy a Jeep.

    • Why wouldn't you?

      • +7

I test drove one a while back and it was crap.

      • +4

Shorter answer would be why would you? Especially given their history in this country of great customer service… oh wait..

        • -1

the jeep rubicon is the bees knees for 4wd's the rest of the line up bin them.

  • +5

    Jeep, More money than sense.

    • More money? Not sure if that is a good fit for the Jeep crowd.

    • -1

Nah … That saying is reserved for Apple and robot/electric car owners

  • +9

Thb, I trust Chinese car over Jeep.

  • +4

    Are these available at Costco

    • Yeah they are pushing the jeep hard via Costco. Rubbish ice cars. Don’t know how their ev platform will fare.

  • (save $4,000)

How much will we save in a few more months?

    • +1

True. Plus this isn't even a saving, they just changed the price before it's even on sale

  • -1

Wow the power and torque seem very under cooked for what is probably pretty heavy. If it was $45k-$50k drive away it might do ok

  • +1

OMG - they are trying to "dump" their vehicles in the Australian market.

But that's OK - they are not the CCP.

  • There was a time where Jeep selling an Italian engineered, polish assembled, small FWD-only SUV would have been wild.

Now, we’re living in a time where buying an Italian engineered, polish assembled small FWD SUV from Jeep is a wild, and objectively bad, decision.

  • JEEP - Just Empty Every Pocket

but seriously an electric Jeep? that's like a vegan Tuduckan. Here I thought it was just an android's dream

Who want buy a US car?Worst quality of the wworld.BYD way better.

    • I mean, with your reasoning Tesla is a US car?

    • -1

hahahah ok look i agree but come on BYD - the amount of battery fires alone is worrying in china…

  • that is a very good looking car, the wheel fitment is on point.

  • I'm sure if it had a Kia badge, everyone would be frothing over it.
Not a bad looking little EV. Needs more power and a bit more range though

  • +2

    JEEP:
    Just Enormous Electrical Problems

  • Looks cool imo, but not sure why you would buy this over (for example) a Model 3…? I get that it's meant to be an SUV, but this thing ain't doing any offroading and I can't imagine the internal space is any bigger then a M3 or similar from BYD….

  • -1

lol @ having to discount a car before it even arrives in the country. It’s a sad day when people would rather buy a Chinese EV over a shitbox Jeep.

Negging based on Jeep and Stelantis treating ACL like it’s loose guidelines and hanging customers out to dry on a regular basis. How Jeep have not gone tits up in Australia still puzzles me to this day…
