Myer - $15 off Every $75 Spend on Cameras - E.g. Canon EOS 6D w/ 24-105 Kit for $2594 - Sunday

150

$15 off $75 Sat & Sun at Myer on cameras.

Their starting price for the new EOS 6D w/ 24-105 lens kit is top end at $3599.

$15 off every $75 brings this down to $2894.

Canon is currently offering $300 cashback on this kit if bought before end-Jan 2013 = brings it down to $2594.

If you bought the gift cards for $100 and get an extra $10 free, brings it down to $2330.

If you're going abroad within 30 days of buying it, get GST back on the $2894 amount, bringing it down to $2068.

My local Myer didn't have stock in as its so new, but allowed me to place an order at this price with the deal (apparently $2894 is already below their cost) by paying a deposit.

Myer one points should give you another $50 or so worth of gift cards.

  • So up to 20% off. Their standard prices good?

  • Just be aware that on getting the GST back, if you get picked up by customs on the way back into the country they can make you pay duty/GST on the import. I don't know how they assess that it is being imported as new.

I was in the claim queue at Sydney airport last month and a person was told this by the customs official.

(Still, I would say it's worth the risk!)

I got told that by the GST person too when I got my camera GST back at the airport, she freaked me out cause she said its in your immigration/passport records and they will know when I next come back into the country

the funny thing is when I got back, I told the customs dude that I actually had something over 900 that I had earlier claim GST on…. he just looked at me and boldy said… "i wouldn't declare it if I was you, I didn't hear a thing you just told me" and he then let me go

I guess it depends on the customs dude if you get busted or not

      • My experience is, if you choose not to declare and they pick you up on it, they'll make you pay.

    • it can happen, but you would be very very very, very, very unlucky if it were you.

    • fair point although I'm coming back in with my wife and 2 kids and I think you can pool your family allowance, so 2x $900 and 2x$450 should cover it.

    • Goods claimed as part of the Tourist Refund Scheme will become part of your $900 general duty free allowance if you come back with the goods when you return to the country. So if the value of the items is below this amount you will have no issues.

    • Sorry noob question, if for a camera, can I just show the body and lens? or does it have to be in the packaging and box?

      • Just the actual item whatever it is (laptop, camera, lens, …) - no packaging / lenses / manuals needed

The $15 off the $75 is the bargain, the camera is just an example.

    • Your neg voting because its an expensive camera? Or the deal?

  • is that the same as this?http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Canon-EOS-60D-EF-24-105mm-f-4-0L-Kit-16GB-Sandisk-Gift-/180562974553?pt=AU_Digital_Cameras&hash=item2a0a645759&_uhb=1

      No

    • No, the 6D is the brand new (literally out in Oz yesterday) Full frame which sits somewhere between the 5D and the 7D (which is already one up from the 60D).

Lowest on eBay would be this :

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Canon-EOS-6D-Digital-Camera-Body-…

for around $2850 and that would be non-Australian stock and without Australian Warranty

  • This is a full frame slr.

  • I ordered 2 at Top Ryde just before they closed , thx OP

    • out of curiosity, did they state when they would be able to fulfill the orders ?
