You mean domestic, not local. Have an upvote from me though, good deal :)

ShopBack groups them as Local, Short Haul and International, (the latter seems to exclusively refer to Japan). Which is not the terminology I’d use.

“Local flights are all flights departing to/arriving within Australia.
Short haul flights are all flights departing to/arriving from countries with South East Asia & the Pacific; or crossing the Tasman.”

      • I stand corrected. Thanks for the confirmation

Wait for the Happy Hour sale starts 4pm Thursdays

  • This deal’s got me feeling a little… turbulent.

  • Has anyone tried to take advantage of these cashback deals with the travel bank credit? I have some credit that I got from the Virgin Money credit card, but the terms say cashback won't count if they are used.

Have some domestic trips I am looking to plan next year and would be ideal to maximise the savings here too.

I just booked a flight Syd-Mel. It is considered a "Short Haul", not a "Local Flight".

Short haul typically refers to domestic flights that cover a relatively short distance, generally up to 3-4 hours.

    • @gotyourback want to help us out with this contradiction? See below comment

      • The rep won't answer, ShopBack are hopeless now.

        • +1

How often do they advertise a better rate and then give less than promised? Seems like there are no consequences other than developing a bad reputation?

    • @zeter Sorry things aren't working out. Shoot us a DM with your booking details and we'll check it out.

From the Shopback website: "Local flights are all flights departing to/arriving within Australia"

    • If only ShopBack was honest hey 😂

  • I've just booked MEL-SYD return for next year and it's tracked at the "Short Haul - 2.1%" cashback amount, not the 10% for local flights I was hoping for.

Better than nothing I suppose, as I was taking advantage of the Bonus 2,000 Velocity Points offer that ends tonight.

Same, pretty disappointed at only getting 2.1%! TopCashBack had 4.5% the other day.

    I got $6 on a $300 airfare @gotyourback
    That's not 10%

      • Just sent a DM. Happy to change my vote if you can get it fixed, thank you for your assistance

        • alright thanks - will look into it @thisusernameistaken

    I got $7 for a $360 fare. that’s not 10%

    • Let's get this sorted @chakel! Need your help to drop me a DM with all the details for this matter

Contact them guys. And be very assertive. And Google reviews. They're on 4.5 stars which is ridiculous! Search Shopback Australia on Google maps

  • Now over i think? 0.75%

I got $8 cashback tracked for $410 tickets. Definitely not the 10% cashback that was promised.

  • Tracked for only 2.1%

  • Anyone had their shopback credited with the correct amount yet?

    • +1

Nope. Mine only tracked at $11.30 for $500+ tickets. A similar situation is reports by several of my friends. I would appears no one's has tracked at 10%

@gotyourback will you institute a virgin aus 'site wide' investigation to review evyone's transaction during this special??? or are you only going to review those who report it???

      • Sorry to hear that yours are affected too @q9707418! We are aware of this and the team is checking with the merchant partner about this wrong Cashback for all orders from Virgin Flights. We will get them to update the Cashback soon - sorry for the inconvenience
