  • Reviews look pretty poor.

This is $70, I'd say it's pretty rubbish.

The specs don't even list the wattage of the motor.

    • Reviews look pretty poor.
Is that your own bias coming into play? From the 26 reviews on the Spotlight site, 19 were 4 stars and above, and 7 were 3 stars or below. I wouldn't say that was pretty poor.

I have an identical looking machine purchased from Kogan for a similar price 3yrs ago and it hasn't missed a beat and does exactly what it should. From memory my machine's wattage was around 700w

"We have a KitchenAid at home"

  • I bought one from the previous deal with similar price. It's functional, but not that great. It can handle some light duty works fine. But when i try to use it on a relatively harder dough. The joint between the mixter hand and motor start to 'dispense' some black debris. It's not really acceptable for a FOOD machine. Then I bought a Kenwood one from this deal for $249. I'd say save a bit more for a better quality one if you need to work on dough.

  • What is the best stand mixer for dough?
I have seen some reviews saying the motor on some KitchenAid models does not last very long when used for dough regularly.

    • You definitely need something with metal gears, plastic wont last.

I got a Breville "The Scraper Mixer" for bread dough because it was the lowest price model in their lineup to have it, but still make sure to use it on low speed as well.
