HDMI 1.4 and 720p webcam for those that don’t want to click the link.

  • Have any laptop bags recommended for it?
I'll take that with my new ASUS Vivobook 15X to school.

    • I use the dell $10 laptop sleeve.

      • Thanks for the suggestion!
I bought a cheap sleeve a few years ago, and it broke the first time I used it because the quality was poor. How does this one compare? Is it sturdy enough to last for regular use, and does it feel like it will hold up better?

  • No Gen 2 USB 3.2? That’s a little outdated for a 12th Gen Intel laptop, isn’t it?

  • never used a 1080p Oled before, will it look good? retnia quality or will i still notice the 1080p aspect of it

Not sure how this is a deal when you can get a 14" laptop with a much faster Ryzen processor and higher resolution 2k OLED display for only $997 from Officeworks. Those Intel 12th generation U series CPUs(i5/i7)in the Asus should be classified as i3, considering they are only have two P cores. Typical Intel Marketing to hoodwink those that don't know.

The Ryzen processor in the Acer is about 35% faster than these Intel processors.

That Acer is a R5-8645HS, so even more powerful, but also higher power draw.

I do kinda get why Acer went for the HS chips, but for a "go" laptop I'd definitely have preferred a lower power chip.

Overall I'd say the Acer is better value (new Acer really seems to have improved quality!) but that laptop is definitely a very different option to the Acer posted here.

I know people who have that Acer laptop and it can easily last 10hrs for productivity applications.

The Asus only has a 50wH battery. No way you will get a work/school day out of it without needing a power point.

The HS chip is not any worse efficient than a U model by any significant margin, it just has the ability to run at a higher wattage IF needed. The main issue I think would be the minimal cooling system in the Acer which struggles to cool the U chip at full workload in my experience.

  • is it ok for Black Myth: Wukong?

    • no it's not for gaming
