      Since it is still quite a while away, you can wait closer to the date for esims.

      But generally the Southeast Asia 4 Explorer or DTAC esim (this is 10 days only but rechargeable).

      Hey there!

      No you don't need to do anything, just turn data roaming on in China.

      The only settings you may need to change is the network operator if it doesn't select the correct one automatically.

      eSim is actually works the same as physical sim once they are installed into the phone
      with the same eSim, when you transit to another country it will search and connect to the partnered mobile network operator
      basically this is how roaming works

    What is the note on not deleting the eSim mean?
    Does this mean it should only be installed/activated close to usage?
    Although in important notes it also states only the 15 day plan begins upon redeeming.

        So if I bought a 30 day esim today for vietnam and enabled it today the 30 day period wouldn't start until I connect to the viettel signal when the plane lands? The reason I ask is it says no expiry online.

          There is no expiry for the redemption code - once you redeem the code the plan will start right away - please kindly read the product page.

      Indonesia SIM card provider is plus Poland, it mean you can access tiktok and chatgpt whereas the Southeast Asia Explorer one uses HK provider and can't access Tiktok/Chatgpt.

    For the SIMs suitable for Japan, I noticed that the provider is either CMHK (KDDI & Softbank) or Docomo IIJ. I understand that Docomo IIJ is a local SIM and will involve some manual config for the APN. But apart from this difference, are there other differences? Would CMHK considered to be roaming and potentially have slower speed and will add some latency?

      CMHK is a roaming SIM however based on our testing the speeds are similar to Docomo IIJ - perhaps with some latency but under normal usage the average user will not noticed this "latency".

      CMHK Japan SIM also cannot access TikTok or Chatgpt.

          We used it personally and find no issues at all with AliPay and WeChat - we can add our Australian bank cards (credit) and used it to pay for everything :)

      You can register these app using your Australian number before or upon arriving in Indonesia.

      Note we also have local SIMs should you prefer one.

    A bit late for the party but would like to recommend TravelKon! We went to Japan last year, bought physical sims and one died mid-trip. Their rep helped us, even after business hour and sent new esim which worked seamlessly. After that, we bought Japan esim and it worked no issue. Speed is amazing.
