Love it how amaysim call it flash sale when the $300 SIM had $120 cashback up until yesterday lol

    Proof

This has now decreased to only $10 cashback across all cashback providers

    • +7

I came here thinking the $120 Cashback was still on. I was dreaming. Going to bed now. 💤

        200gb net cost after cashback:

        • -4

          This is a useless comparison
Those old offers and not available today.

You need to compare with other standing offers TODAY!

Besides this offer is straight out cash discount !
          So comapring chalk with cheese.
Yes a small cashback offer also applies.

27%-30% up,but RBA said we only have 3.5% inflation

        • Off-topic…may be ?

Inflation is the price consumer-pay for HIGH-economic activities & those who don't want to participate WILL be left behind.
AU-house-prices will DOUBLE-again in 10 years & will be double-digit growth for 2024: data will be release Mar-25 ish 😱

Read widely on RBA-speeches, others critique of RBA's comments, central-bankS creation of NEW-money out-of-thin-air & it's impact on their economies…which-IS being implemented in many-countries.

Upfront discount is better than waiting about 3 months for cashback hoping it would be paid.

      • I was just stating the obvious lol 🙃

Not sure if this has changed recently but when amaysim used to have profits on their SIM, Cashrewards had approved them within a week

        • +2

I just checked my Amaysim purchase with Cashrewards. Not approved yet from 24th July purchase. Estimated approval: 07/10/2024

Perhaps Cashrewards changed the approval time.

          • @trixieb: They seemed to have trouble with Amaysim lately. I bought the $26 Cashback on $15 SIM sold on 1/5 that not only it's still pending, they managed to change the (originally bumped up by them) cashback to zero and told me there's an issue with the tracking system and should revert back to $26 soon. I have a feeling that they're just trying to brush me off.

      • +5

I always think cashback is the most stupid and most embarrassing thing on earth as you have to wait for the arrival of your discount which sometimes never happens and some other times, you may need to chase for your cashback.

        I avoid all cashback deals.

        • Must be user error. I've saved thousands using cashback.

          • @orly: you are probably right but without cashback sellers will offer discounts.

worse yet, cashback is very invasive when it comes to your financial and personal details as you will need to provide your details just to receive a few bucks. not to mention that it takes ages sometimes to get the cashback.

comparing to the traditional discount, you need to give away more than you earn. like this listing, I don't think it's worthy.

      Chalk and cheese.
Cashback is not the same as a straight out cash discount.

      This is an excellent offer

    • Was that for new customers only as I already am on Amaysim prepaid yearly plan expiring in Nov.

    • Love it how amaysim call it flash sale when the $300 SIM had $120 cashback up until yesterday lol

      Likely left-hand not-speaking to the right-hand ?

      Back-office staff of both-companies are overseas/PH & English-communication is a challenge & throw-in confusing money-back system…wrong-interpretations & lost-in-translations.

    Optus network. Not worth it.

    • +9

      Depends on where you stay
The suburb that I’m in - Optus is better than Telstra (I’ve run a speed test and Boost is only getting kbps speed lol)

      • +1

Yeah same for my Aunty. Waaay out west and Telstra is non-existent. Finally convinced her to change to Optus and it's actually life changing for her (80yo - basically no internet at home until now).

    • what I find about Amaysim is that their "priority" is quite low, whenever there's a lot of people around the network speed drops right down, it's super noticeable.
Wife had a tafe course and network speed varies depends on how many people was around in the building. if the train was full the network speed drops right down.

when we are at home the network speed usually is good because people are likely on their home wifi.

      • +3

I wish there was somewhere that we could see the priority of all MVNOs, as I get similar issues, depending on where I am and density of people within that area at the time.

      • Happens with all transmitters.
        Doesnt matter whose they are.

        • it's significantly worse. If you have 2 phones (or have a friend who's on a different Optus providers)

I never observe this back in when I was in SA, but in Sydney it's super noticable.

    • -3

Optus is 200% better than your comment

  • Last week bought the 200gb plan for 174$ by any chance would they refund any credits to our account?

    • +2

You can try contacting them but I doubt it.

    • 'I can help you with this one here'

    • Whats wrong with $174?
You still got a great deal.
You were obviously happy with it then.

      Same when you buy groceries.
You buy them one day, then they go on special the next day.
You can't go asking for a refund.

  • I'm living overseas and purchased an Amaysim 365 day SIM before I left Australia last year. I use it to receive 2FA texts from Australia and it's been great for this. The 365 days is up in a few weeks. Can I use this deal to extend my current SIM for another year?

    • +24
      1. I don't think it's possible to use this as a recharge, but…
      2. Why would you want to anyway, even if it were possible? Because..
      3. You can just top up $10 to give yourself another year of $10 "PAYG Credit" (which, by the way, ends up building up over time if you don't use it) which will continue to keep your number alive and be able to receive SMS for free; and…
      4. You do not actually need to top up when the 365 days expires. There should be a 6 month grace period where, post-expiry, your number is still alive and active, and able to receive SMS. So you could just top up closer to the end of that grace period

So $10 vs these prices, it seems like a no-brainer to take the $10 option.

Alternatively, Lebara @ $7 also works

This guy here is the MVP. True, accurate, ozbargain data. I can vouch for it. He's spot on. Or she is.

      • Thanks so much! That's great advice.

      • What is PAYG credit and how do I top up with Amaysim (I’m literally in the same situation as @Andy123)

        • you just switch to the PAYG plan…

You just need to make a $10 payment at least once per year to keep the number and any unused funds roll over…

    • +2

Why don't you switch to the PAYG plan? That is only $10 per year….

      • Thank you, I will look into it!

    • @Andy123 - do you have the roaming pack add on? Or you can receive SMS anyway?

      • I don't have the add-on. I had to enable roaming in one of the phone settings when it stopped working a few months ago.

        • Thank you - good to know

  • Boost vs Amaysim ? Service wise/value for money

    • +1

Boost uses the Telstra network and Amaysim uses the Optus network.

    • Since Amaysim stopped offers below $100 per year I have moved to Catch with $20/20Gb/3 months.

      • increased to $40 for 20GB every 3 months …

        • I get $5 Aldi PAYG as burner or if I don't need much data, then return to Catch $20/20Gb/3 months if I need data; repeat the cycle.

    • -1

Think boost is 5g whereas this is 4g.

    • +2

Where my partner and I move, amaysim is very slow, and even when calling the quality is pretty bad. We moved back to boost as soon as our 12month amaysim plan expired. Never going back.

      • +2

Seeing the neg votes, looks like some people need to justify having bought amaysim rather than boost

        • Not everyone having the same experience. In some areas, Hellstra is worse than Floptus and Vodafail.

Boost for coverage, Amaysim for 5g experience.

      • +1

@1r4n14n The Amaysim deal link shows 4g included but doesn't mention 5g. I'm not sure if it means no 5g connection with this offer.

        Thanks for the excellent reference.

        • +1

That’s correct, no 5g for the Amaysim 12 month plans :)

    • I switched from amaysim to boost 12 months ago to get 5G. I got my 5G, but no noticeable speed improvement or coverage, so I'm switching back now. Probably will switch back to boost again in 12 months as a new customer

  • Boost, amaysim, both good!

  • +1

When do you have to activate by?

    • 3 months. Just asked online chat. If transferring your number.

  • -6

Be careful of amaysim if you need mobile service to contact families and mobile date to swip on metro, train, mobile pay, and show airplane ticket in airports. Wife was tortured one week before went to overseas. They said it’s system error and will be fixed in hours and sb will call back in hours, but all lies. End up with TIO now

    • -1

Was it you who tortured your wife? Sorry, it was a nightmare to read your complaint, but that’s all I got out of it.

Starter package no longer incs international calls

  • I know there are a lot of Vodafone haters out there but the Costco BF Vodafone deal for $99 is unbeatable if Voda works fine for you. I am on my 2nd year now with them on the same deal. Hope they repeat it this year.

    • Is this offer still available?

  • What happens after 12 months? Can you still receive calls with no ‘credit’ if you don’t want to auto renew the plan?

  • Does anyone know when you have to activate by for the SIM itself to still be valid (i.e ignoring the 28 days for cashback)?

  • Is this prepaid so not eligible for Amex screen insurance?

  • Note that this doesn't include unlimited international calls to the list of countries that similar 12 months pack sold at woolworths does have.

    • @bargainfinder Please note that the 240GB 12-month plan for $180 in this offer does include unlimited international calls to 28 countries (as per the deal link).

International calls seem to be excluded in the 200GB 12-month plan.

      • +1

Thanks, morning coffee hasn't kick in. You are correct the 240gb plan does have international calls.

  • +2

Hmm … anything below $100 for 12 month? I have not much use for the inflated data at all. Just local calls and some amount of data 🤷‍♂️

  • Do amaysim include free call forwarding or only Boost?

  • I dont think Amaysim( Optus) has WIFI calling overseas unllike Boost.

  • Just jumped ship from Boost to Amaysim. The telstra network quality is far superior, but i travel overseas a lot and had to dual sim set up for roaming packs from amaysim.
Would strongly recommend the amaysim if you travel overseas and use roaming

  • Just messaged them three days ago asking if there's any deals coming up and they said no.

    Just auto lost a customer.

    • lol what and how did you ask it exactly?

      • "Since my plan has expired, do you have any deals up and coming so I don't need to go find a better deal with someone else?"

  • I am already on Amaysim 365 plan. Can I buy this and port to this offer? Also, how long we have to activate SIM? Not worried about cashback..

  • whats the service like for this amaysim deal v kogan $99 deal? I know its optus v voda but looking for feedback in sydney.

I dont need much data - 60-70gb a year - and live in sydney metro.

    • I'm in Sydney, and I've bounced between Coles and Amaysim. I travel outside the cities, so would prefer certainty of Optus with larger coverage.

    • Better ask your neighbours, workmates and people where you shop and regularly travel, or test out cheap SIMs in the areas you frequent. Waste of time asking people using different cells to you, their experience will be different to yours.

  • Never any deals for existing users :(

    • Loyalty tax. Btw, why not just port out and back in.

      • Can you port in and out with your Amaysim number within 24 hours and still get this deal?

  • Received an email today about device not going to work from 28 Oct but no code sent.

It says instead to contact Amaysim to discuss the options.
