Actually as someome pointed out, LycaMobile are the best value in europe as they offer free roaming and use of plan

amaysim are the best value for international roaming

    • +3

thanks - great to know - though international > EU :)

      • +1

Its just a heads up so people travelling to europe will benefit more from Lyca than amaysim

        • +1

much appreciated - feel free to add to wiki :)

        • +1

Wow, this is unreal! Good to know.

    • And the cheapest for a yearly plan is kogan at $99. Expires today!

    • +1

Wonder if anyone actually tried it. Unclear terms and conditions. Link mentions it might have a fair use policy, but doesn't state what it is.

Also FAQ contradicts itself here. No access to internet while roaming.

If their UK plans are any indication, they usually cap to 12GB EU roaming .

    • 😏
Yeah Lyca is best Mobile for EU Travelling, the countries in their EU zone may be a bit iffy (aka not have alley union in it though, and they might use like slower network may be 3g instead of 4g/5g too)

But still yeah free roaming is free

    • does it apply to all pre-paid plan? if yes, maybe I just join one eligible plan, e.g. $9/28 days, go to Europe, then use it and cancelled it after I return to Australia
      Could you clarify it? Thanks

      • -1

        https://www.lycamobile.com.au/en/already-joined-us/can-i-use…

Thats all i know about it

Can I Use My Existing Bundle While Roaming in the European Union?

Absolutely, you can! We've got you covered when you're traveling within the European Union (EU).

At Lyca Mobile, our bundle plans include EU roaming as a standard feature. This means you can make use of the allocated minutes, texts, and data from your existing bundle while exploring different EU countries. You won't need to worry about incurring additional charges!

However, it's important to note that there may be certain restrictions and fair usage policies when roaming. To maximize the benefits of your bundle while abroad, we recommend checking the roaming rates, terms, and conditions specific to the EU country you're visiting. This way, you can enjoy seamless connectivity without any unexpected surprises.

Feel free to roam worry-free within the EU with your Lyca Mobile bundle! Should you have any questions or require additional information regarding roaming, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to ensure that your travel experience is as smooth as possible.

    • I spoke to someone from Lyca today and they said it does not include data roaming. Only calls and texts. I showed them the link saying data and they said it was incorrect and will take it down.

    • Does that work if you buy the plan here and then head overseas, then do you know if the UK counts or no?

  • +2

Just another international tip. Calls to international countries arent included in this amaysim plan.

At $100 for the year. Its good value if you dont have this need

    • +4

Ive been churning between free sims and some discounted supermarket sims. Still costs me less than $50 a year.

Last year cost me $6 for the whole year because of the free 3 months, $1 per 3 months (used twice) and free 2 months deals posted here

This year used 4 boost sims profit after cashback, and 2 Lebara discounted sims for $4 at woolworths and have a boost sim pack which i refunded but they still sent it (free) to activate soon

      • +7

Well it’s a lot of legwork to save $50. I get the free cashback sims but prefer 1 year with the same provide for $100-120. With plenty of data and in some case also international calls it’s a no brainer.

        • +6

Not really. Takes me max 2 min per churn and i do it on a weekday in the morning to avoid any porting issues. Also get more data by churning (average 500GB) so thats even more value when compared to getting only 200GB for a whole year. Moat prepaid sim now offer international calls to same countries so thats no biggie either

Well it’s a lot of legwork to save $50

No point being on ozbargain then. Many people here spend more effort to save $5

          • +2

@easternculture: Agreed it’s not that hard churning sims kinda like churning credit cards - just a bit of effort

It’s a shame boost cb party might have ended though

          • @easternculture: Lol $5 savings? Each to their own, but for me $50 in one year isn’t that much. I do handle 4 sims though and I prefer to concentrate my efforts on health insurance or nbn, where there is a much higher/significant saving margin to be had.

            • +1

@fozzie: I churn pretty much anything i can now. It all adds up. Latest churn of car insurance/health insurance/mobile plan has yielded me a profit of $490 cashback plus value of 6 weeks free/6 weeks free/$100 AHM cashback = $400.

I have free NBN through that student government program initiative till end of 2025.

Free gas and electricity so far via churning

If my calculations are right, i will yield a yearly incentive of over $10k

      • @easternculture You have done well. Have you found much difference between the telcos/mvno where you are?
I found Telstra > Boost > Amaysim on a spare phone. My main number is with Telstra.

        • Any MVNO that uses Telstra ive found superior than optus/voda networks

          • @easternculture: Good to know thanks. If I were to churn, will stick to the Telstra ones

      • which company did u have the success with cashback?

      • I have the PAYG Amaysim to keep a regular number, then a second sim of whatever is free for data and calls I might make. Sounds like a lot of work but I don't find it that way.

    • thanks - yes, for that one needs the Woolworths version :)

  • Does amaysim do $200 Sim with 50% discount?

    • No, unless it’s expired and you get sent a code/contact amaysim

  • Hey guys, Is it only for new customers/sign ups?

    • Worked for me as an existing customer, on Cashrewards. It's in their T&Cs

      • Did it? The CR T&C's state "Cashback is ineligible on the following:… Recharges to existing services."

        • Existing customer but a new mobile number will work.

        • Must have ported out and back.

        • I had two other services with them and ported a new one, not recharge.

  • Need international minutes…cmon boost i need sale

  • Is there anyway I can buy this to extend a current plan? (I doubt it )

    • +1

This is a sim starter pack, it's not a recharge voucher so you'd need to port out & back.

  • +1

CR Cashback for amaysim use to happen within a week. Looks like they fixed that loophole.

  • How does this compare to Catch Connect with respect to services as both use Optus network?

  • +1

but amaysim is optus….errr i'd choose vodafone $99 deal over this

  • +2

Beware if conference calls are of importance to you, amaysim doesn't support it. Found out the hard way. Happy with everything else about it.

    • +1

In fact no Optus MVNO supports it. Optus doesn't make it available to them.

Also Optus geoblock wifi calling while overseas. Another pain.

  • Is Promo: JUL2024 eligible for cashback? It’s not listed on Shopback page that I can see?

    • I can not see this info on TopCashback either

  • No 5G, 100mbps cap if that matters to you.

  • Does anyone how long amaysim stays active after recharge expiry for incoming?

      10.3. Automatic Cancellation

If you use the mobile Service Pre-paid Payment Option, the Service will be cancelled automatically if more than 455 days have passed since your last recharge of Airtime Credit (for the purposes of this clause, your last recharge may be Activation of your amaysim SIM Card). The 455 days indicated consists of a 365 day active period and a 90 day passive period. For more information on active and passive periods, please see the amaysim Mobile Service Description.

      https://www.amaysim.com.au/content/dam/amaysim/documents/ter…

      6.4. Airtime Credit Validity

Your Airtime Credit may be used within a period of 365 days (unless otherwise stated) from your last recharge. This 365 day period is called the “Active Period” (for the purpose of determining your first Active Period, Activation is considered a recharge).
Every time you recharge your Airtime Credit, a new 365 day Active Period for your entire Airtime Credit begins from the day of the recharge.

If you don’t recharge your Airtime Credit within the Active Period, you enter into the Passive Period. On the first day of the Passive Period your Airtime Credit expires and you will not be able to make outgoing calls, send SMS or MMS or download data. You
may, however, receive calls and SMS. You may also make calls to our Service Hotline on 567 and to Emergency Services. During the entire Passive Period you will be able to recharge your Airtime Credit. Upon recharge, your Active Period will restart and
continue for a further 365 days.

If you do not recharge your Airtime Credit before the end of the Passive Period, we may cancel your Service, and we may allocate your MSN to another person. If this happens, the MSN cannot be returned to you.

The Passive Period has a duration or 90 days.

Within a period of 10 days before the end of the Passive Period we will warn you by SMS and email that we may cancel your Service.

If your Service has been suspended either by us or at your request, we cannot provide you with the warnings indicated under section 6.4 of this Service Description.

  • Use Shopback at your own risk
Some people's (me included) $40 cashback from This Deal didn't track. And after logged support ticket, it only track $29 which might not get confirmed as it's manual entry.

    • Try to cancel your Amaysim-order & get a refund ?

RE-order via CashRewards: they seems to approved tracked money-back claim in 7d…my Jun-24 experience with their 1 month plans & just bought a RE-placement plan.

Traps are everywhere for novice ?

      • Shopback have 3 days minimum waiting period before we able to log a ticket, plus their lead time to "investigate". By the time all is done, the SIM is already delivered.

Not sure if Amaysim will do 100% refund for it.

        • +1

SIM is already delivered. Not sure if Amaysim will do 100% refund for it.

Yes…provided that you have NOT use any-data…it's all trials-&-errors.

  • Does anyone know when cashback will end? thanks

    • +1

      31 Jul - 16 days left

      • It’s now 50$, not 75$

  • Has anyone received the cashback yet from Cashrewards? Bought it last Tues but not yet paid

    • Looks like it’s gone back to normal approval time. (No more 1 week approval)

    • Havent been tracked either on Cashrewards for purchase on 13/7….starting to worry

    • Tracked the same day this time.

In the past (3-4 months ago), when it was $35 cashback, I purchased two new services with a few hours between purchases.
The first one was tracked immediately. The second I had to follow up and then added it manually. Had to follow up again to get it paid later one a few times.

    • 7 days now and no tracking. Made a claim.

The only thing I have from Amaysim is the invoice PDF, no order ID or anything else to go off…

  • Any other cheapest deal available for long term validity?

  • I noticed the advertised $75 cash back rate on Cashrewards is for the "$240 12-month SIM with 200GB" Amaysim product. No mention of the discounted $175 price. Does anyone know if the discounted product is still eligible for cash back - or does it need to be purchased at full price?

    • yes, no

  • Just want to put out here that if you don't receive your Sim Card within 10 business days and you contact them, they will ask you to pay 2 dollars and you will get a credit in your next renewal.

Do not pay the 2 dollar. Insist that you have paid and you didn't receive the card and you are only going to use the card until it expire. Ask to talk to supervisor if worse come to worst. They won't put you to their supervisor.

They will then just resend the sim card for free within 2 to 5 business days express.

    • Could always activate it and put in a free sim replacement

  • @tonester can you please confirm that the $75 cash back is allowed with the discounted $175 rate with Cashrewards and Shopback? I can’t find this promo on either websites for cash backs and don’t want to get caught out. Assuming it is accepted, the 200GB plan should be $100? Thank you, Matt

  • Nothing tracked in cashrewards yet. Class action lawsuit lets go.
