Tried using a Google Store Voucher, does not stack (applying it changes the price to $119 minus the voucher amount), for anyone who has one

    • +2

Was able to pay with my credit fine

Edit: Store credit vs voucher, my bad!

Will this work with my one-week-away new Pixel Pro 9 Fold phone ?
I've tried looking online and cannot find if this is compatible, and, if so, what speed it will charge at/up to

    • +1

This foldable phone is not compatible with the Pixel Stand (2nd Gen) due to its size and design. The foldable nature of the device makes it unsuitable for the cradle of the Pixel.

      • my Z fold 6 fits on it just fine and the pixel 9 pro fold is thinner

    • +55

Also the device would need to be much closer than one week away for the wireless charging to work.

      • Haha yes. Spring is 6 days away :).
Think I'll just keep the pixel 9 and set that up, no point waiting to see what the 9 pro deal is (although JB did say 24 Oct).

        • +4

          whooosh

    • I have a 9 fold ordered and I am assuming it will work. It works with the original pixel fold so no reason to think that it won't work with the 9 fold. That being said, google does do some strange things.

"There's wireless charging support, so I've been plunking it on Google's Pixel Stand (2nd Gen) to charge up."

Will this work with my one-week-away new Pixel Pro 9 Fold phone ?

I'm in the same position. I did a bit of research, and I think it should work, but in a much more limited capacity.

The special drawcard to this product is that it supports 21/23W charging for high-end Pixel devices, and 15W for non-Pixel devices.

When you check the specification comparison for the Pixel 9 range you see:

Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9: Wireless charging rates up to 15 W (Pixel 9), up to 21 W (Pixel 9 Pro) and up to 23 W (Pixel 9 Pro XL) charging with Google Pixel Stand (2nd gen). Up to 12 W with Qi-certified EPP chargers (sold separately). Actual results may be slower.

      Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Qi-certified.

So, it's pretty clear they're ruling out the 21W/23W fast charging for the Fold.

They specifically don't define the wireless speed for the Fold, just that it's "Qi-certified". The Qi standard supports charging between 5.0W to 15W, but it's unclear specifically what speed/watts the Fold will charge at (and it's concerning they don't specify).

So, my educated guess is that this product will support wireless charging of the Fold, it just won't do so quickly (just how quickly is yet to be seen).

But given this charger's main feature of 21/23W charging is not compatible with the Fold, then it loses a lot of its value, and you might as well pay for a cheap Qi charger.

That said, given the heavy discounting in this deal, it may actually be worthwhile getting it anyway. But I wouldn't be ordering it at the normal $119 price if you've got a Fold - at least, until we see real-world evidence of it's charging speed, as compared to relying on Google's somewhat ambiguous technical specifications they've published.

      • Seems it is not compatible, judging by recently reworded advice from Google, which has changed since I made my purchase. Argh. I might have to return it then :(

  • Just in time for the new Pixel 9 Pro XL which doesn’t work with my old wireless stand for some reason. Other people have the same problem with P9P XL and older stands.

    • I don’t have this issue. My Pixel 9 Pro XL works well with all my existing generic wireless chargers and wireless charging MagSafe holders I have even in my cars.

      • Yes mine too. No issues.

  • Temporarily out of stock.

Back in stock. Got worried for a second as had $100 to spend by end of this year.

      • Bought one in case it's out of stock again, was going to price match with JB and pay with a gift card.
Edit: Unfortunately only Harvey Norman has it in stock.

    • My order went through after your comment so it's still available

  • Nice!

My store credit from my Pixel 8 Pro order last year was about to expire, so what better way to use it.

Just did this with another of my accounts, got the email. Out of stock (get notified).

Wouldn't mind one, wouldn't be able to use magnetic plate thing inside case but could leave that in the car in general.

Also tempted to spend that money on the anker 543 45W charger instead.

      Thank you for your tip

Can't believe 10 percent applies on full price before they halve, thanks for this grabbed 2

    • Thanks for that, was about to skip this deal. But at this price I'd give it a go.

    • +1

Can also confirm the 10% signup discount is not account specific. I already had signed up to Google store with my primary account so signed up again with a different Gmail and used that code to purchase this under my primary Gmail and it worked + 5% store credit as I had Google One.

    • Thank you sir.

I have one and was surprised to find it has a fan inside which, for my device anyway, runs while charging. Not loud, but loud enough to be distracting.

    • +4

It is probably not available for non-Pixel phones, but with a Pixel, it recognizes the Pixel stand and allows some settings, including changing the charging mode to "quiet", so it won't charge at full speed and keeps the fan off mostly.

      • It has nothing to do with the actual phone being used, it's the charging speed the phone requests from the charger.

If you use high speed wireless charging the fan will come on to keep things cool.

If the fan is annoying then disable fast wireless charging / enable quiet wireless charging (different phones will call it different things)
If your phone doesn't have a setting to change the wireless charging settings then you can use a smaller output wall plug so it charges slower

        • It's possible, although the Pixel Stand itself has bluetooth so the Pixel could be communicating via. that.

      • -2

Hardware that is proprietarily locked. WOW

    • Have you disabled fast wireless charging / enabled quiet wireless charging on your phone?

  • +2

Will it work with an iPhone

    • +1

      Yes

      • +1

My pixel stand charger does not work on an iPhone

      • WOuld be interested to know if it charges the iphone at full wattage or just 10-15W though

Probably depends on the model iphone

      • +1

Have this and it does not work on a iPhone 15 Pro. Light just flashes as soon as it’s detected.

  • +8

    Gimmick..

Up to 23W for compatible Pixel phones.
Supports up to 15W (EPP) for Qi Certified devices

I'll stick to the cable 45W or even the older chargers for 30W.

Btw anyone found any good cheap MagSafe cases?
Use a magnetic mount in the car.

    • +3

I thought wireless chargers were a bit of a gimmick too… But it is nice just being able to sit your phone on the charger beside your bed without having to plug it in… I know, first world problems… but obviously overnight charging, which is the majority of the time when we charge, you don't need (or even want) 45w charging.

The odd time I need faster charging I just unplug the USB C out of the pixel stand and plug it into the phone, easy.

      • Yeah either way works, I've got a 2m USB C cable from the 30W adapter, and adaptive charging.

Trickle is alright, wouldn't bother putting it on and off all day at work is the point. But yes try keep the charge above 15% and take off straight away after its 100%.

It's neat how iPhone can report battery health as a percentage.

        • +1

Accubattery can help estimate battery life on android

        • +3

Pixel phones (and this wireless charger inc) actually manage all that for you without having to think about it. You can turn it off, but by default these will charge your phone to around 80%, and then won't charge it to 100% untill around half an hour or so before your alarm is set in the morning. So it doesn't sit for 8hrs @100% charge like a normal charger would.

It's a smart system and helps keep the battery as healthy as it can.

          • @Binchicken22: Yes it's call adaptive charging and I've been using it for years. It's all based on you Having to set alarms though.

I was saying it's neat how iPhone owners can check their battery health (ie after two years the battery health may be 90% etc).

            • @G-rig: Ah ok so your aware, just the way you talked about taking your phone off as soon as it reaches 100% charge sounded like you weren't aware of that.

              • @Binchicken22: Of course mate, but sometimes top it up during the day instead, or with heavy use.

Anyway I wouldn't worry too much about it, most people replacing these every year with the pre-release deals.. and your battery gets hot when you use your phone anyway.

      • Wireless charging by the bed is nice, but then you don't want it too fast, as heat is bad for battery lifespan. And pixel phones don't let you choose your charge speed like Samsung does.

Better to get a slower Qi charger (10W?) from <$10 online.

        • Use adaptive charging. Maybe you need a stand at work and at home lol.

Think I'll resist this deal, not necessary and hanging out on here costs ya money haha. Ordered the R36S retro handheld device for $40, bit better value.

        • +1

I have Tapo switch and automated using home assistant so that when the charge hits 90 percent automatically switch turns off

  • +1

Would it work with a 7 pro?

  • Currently showing as Out of Stock for me…. Now back in stock…

  • Back in stock.

Seems very expensive for what can be purchased off Ali (and the same items for a higher price on Amazon) for a few bucks. Sounds like it comes with an in built fan though.

    • +2

I was under the impression this was a proprietary model and the only way to achieve 23W.

      • Google has a monopoly on the 23W charging market

  • hey guys I am getting a google pixel tablet can I use this for this device too?

    • I don't think those support wireless charging (they come with a dock that connects to the pins on the tablet if I remember correctly).

    • Nope, the Pixel Tablet won't be supported by this charger. Either the dock with the pins on the back or usb-c

  • +1

    Got one thanks

  • +3

Buy a magsafe case and charger instead, much more functional

    • +1

      what functions does that have?

      • +1

        Magsafe

    • +1

This stand doesn't play well with magsafe case, it will be flashing orange and only charge at the slowest speed.

  • Out of stock. But how do I tell if I already have a Gen 1 or Gen 2 charger? There are no markings on my Google stand charger I have. But I think I bought it around Pixel 6 Pro launch

    • It restocks every few minutes so just keep refreshing

      • Thanks I got one. I have a Gen 2 but got one for work for whenever I make it into the office. My phone only wireless charges now.

  • +1

    Just bought it, it's a no-brainer deal. 30 Watt + Wireless + Cable

    • +2

Well not a no-brainer, but could be a decent purchase. My first gen stopped charging after just over a year, the replacement would blink amber light when the phone reached 50%, they replaced with a gen 2 and the stupid fan keeps spinning up and down, and the lights blink. Honestly I preferred my $12 ali slow charger…

      • Oh man, I hope this last longer. My $5 Aliexpress 15watt wireless charger still running after 5 years.

        • I had mine for year

    • Would have been better if it was 45w and can use the adaptor separately too.

  • +1

Just ordered one and used google credit, got it for $32, Thanks OP!

  • Sweet, got one for $30 after the credit from my Pixel 8 was applied.

  • +1

    Got one! Thanks OP.

  • +1

Just letting you know that if you are paying using store credit, it will not give you an additional store credit.

    • +1

Just for specifics, you get store credit on whatever you pay in cash. So if you pay half with credit and half with cash, you'll get additional credit on the cash half.

  • Just wondering what this is and what the advantages comparing to the other charging stations. I thought it had some functions specific for pixel phones like Samsung. After checking the specs it doesn’t seem to have functions other than charging, e.g. project desktop to a computer when docking and charging.

  • +1

Thanks OP, bought a second one for the other half. Said it was out of stock but restocks every couple minutes.

  • +1

Still in stock, I just managed to get one.

    • Not losing the product page for me just goes to main page

  • Out of stock again, lets see how long it takes to come back into stock

    Edit - back in stock

    • I think if you keep clicking you get one eventually.

  • Will it work for non-pixel Android phones?

    • Yes, if the phone supports Qi wireless charghing.

  • I think I read somewhere that you can't charge pixel phones sideways with the gen 2. I have gen 1 desktop charger and landscape works fine. Just need to shift it left or right to get a proper charge.
