This is really good price. The lowest I've seen.

    • I got it for $110.49 last year. Excellent air fryer

  • Does this consume far less power than a standard 900mm oven?

    • +2

      from their website: https://instantbrands.com.au/products/instantvortexplus57lai…

Uses up to 80% less energy than traditional electric ovens, saving on energy consumption and cost*
*Based on UK study conducted to assess energy usage in a 2400W electric oven and a Vortex Plus 6-in-1 large Air Fryer with ClearCook & OdourErase when cooking the same Roast Chicken recipe

      This air fryer consumes 1450-1700W

The other thing is that you will typically cook much faster in an air fryer compared to an oven, therefore consuming less energy over time.

You probably won't save 80% of energy, but I think 50% is probably closer.

I bought this model about 1.5 years ago for a similar price as an upgrade from a much cheaper one. Very impressed, worth every $ IMO. I almost never use the oven (even though I have a really high quality oven), unless I need to cook larger meals. For a 1-2 persons, this air fryer is amazing.

      • It depends on what you're cooking, but 80% is probably accurate. My oven draws over 3000kw when heating up and takes much longer to heat up than this airfryer.

You can cook a whole chicken in it, and it takes far less time (especially if you spatchcock).

      • Wow thanks

    • +2

Lower power use, no 10 min warm up like an oven, and the cook time I find is only two thirds. Eg say oven cook time is 200c (180c can forced) for 18 mins, the airfryer can cook it at 180c in 12 mins from when you press the button (for cooking a single layer that has some spacing around the food). If the oven takes 10 mins just to warm up, that's 12 mins compared to oven 28 mins at higher power.

  • Been using one of these for a while now, thanks to a previous OzB deal. Non-stick makes it way better than the $50 woolworths favourite. Recommended, especially at this price.

Will recommend you get some liners for the inside. Been trying my best to delicately clean the inside tray but it seems to start to strip after a while. Amazing none the less though.

Aliexpress gets you some decent cheap paper/bamboo ones but good thickness silicones might still be available in Aldi

      • +1

Oooh! okay thank you! Ill get the gf to go pick some up cause she lvoes Aldi

    • +1

I use a stainless steel wire grate which is dishwasher friendly.

      • Any more info? I'd love to use that instead of the non stick crap.

        • I use one of these try Aliexpress too.

Anyone know where to get decent replacement trays for this? The instantbrands website never have them in stock, and the third party ones on Amazon seem rather dodgy.

    • I got one from Amazon for $25ish. Brand seemed dodgy but it's indistinguishable from the original. I'd be shocked of it's not genuine.

  • Anyone got a recommendation for something a little bigger? We are a family of 5 with 3 growing boys but don't want a cheap/shitty one..

    • maybe a dual basket one (basket width obviously a trade off):

      https://www.stockcheck.aldi.com.au/product/715531/

I got a 5lt single basket ALDI one a while ago for $70. yes cheap but it's great value. main plus is the width of the basket. I find height (translating into more litres) isn't really what would work if items end up being stacked, they don't cook as well.

    Says $129?

  • I own this, its a fantastic airfryer

Just curious, wouldn’t it troublesome to not able to use pressure cooker and airfryer at the same time?

        • -1

What does it got to do with you

  • +1

    Seems deal is expired

  • Has anyone had an issue with their unit like I did from the last Amazon deal?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/856926
Unbearable smell the first time I used it, had to take it outside to cool off and eventually sent it back.

Anyone else get frustrated by the tray falling out when tipping the basket to transfer cooked food to your plate?

I saw nothing but raving reviews before I purchased and can't believe no one mentioned this. It's hell annoying picking each individual potato out with tongs

    • +1

Use tongs or a spatula to pick your food out, or to stop it falling out? I can't believe you're criticising a removable tray design, up-ending the basket and then concerned it falls out.

      • +2

My previous airfryer (can't remember brand) had a tray that clicked in. It was a much better design. So yeah, I'm criticising the design of the removable tray.

It's a criticism worth raising. I wish I had known about it prior to buying. There's a risk of mashing the food when using tongs and when you consider how fragile the Teflon coating is, I think it's stupid that it just falls out.

Sure, the airfryer does its job but I consonsider the tray issue an inconvenience

        • +1

Just tip it on its side slightly and slide your chips out with tongs. Not hard. Sounds like you broke the silicon pads on the sides if it's falling out that easily.

          • +2

@Broden: My bad, I threw them out thinking they were part of the packaging! That explains alot haha. Thanks - I might see if I can order some replacements.

Anyone considering buying and reading along, learn my from mistake haha.

          • @Broden: I use the tongs to hold the tray in place, but whatever works.

    • +1

its my 1st airfryer so cant compare, but its the dumbest design in history, burnt my self couple of times now wrestling with it!

  • +1

Is the the same product as posted by OP ? Going for $99 https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08LKRTR6T/ref=ox_sc_sa…

  • Very bad after sales service. Been chasing the tray from more than 1 year

  • +1

not sure why it got marked as expired, i see it back down to $107.58 shipped and sold from Amazon with a free Pyrex Air Fryer Kit – Glass Baking Dishes 3pc Set + Silicone Grip Pad once added to cart.

    • Price in the deal post has expired.

You are referencing a new offer/deal, so feel free to post as a new deal.

  • People didn't lie about the smell! When the oven is fired up, the whole kitchen smells like Dencorub.

Did anybody else experience this and did it eventually go away?

I've run mine on a few cycles outside but is still pretty smelly.
