Oakleigh one made the news recently for their horrible parking, having to queue up to get in, queueing up for machines

Waaaaay too busy gym at ALL hours. There's queues to get in.

    • Not sure why the downvote but it’s true

      ALL hours

      Even at 3am ?

      • +2

Even at my Good Life I need to wait for equipment and parking at the centre during certain hours 🀷

That article posted above, said the queues are a problem during peak hours, and they even quoted a disgruntled competing gym owner - is the latter really a surprise if it may be driving business away from you? And some people are complaining about people littering protein bar wrappers? The last one doesn't seem like something that would be unique to just Derrimut Gym, sounds rather petty.

If you can only go during peak hours, go elsewhere, otherwise Derrimut may work for you during quieter hours.

People just like to bitch here, this is like cheapest gym ever, I paid more than $276/year like 10y ago for a basic gym. Pretty much, if you want to go during the peak time, go elsewhere. It is just a common sense.

    • There's 14 gyms in Victoria and 26 in total. Which one are you referring to?

It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-bargain…

OP should update it to $276 (Drive away price)

Derrimutt Oakleigh is pretty good pass midnight. I do my workout after my shift at work.

  • How low will they go

If it helps anyone, after the last ozbargain post I have been to the Derrimut Caroline Springs to see if the Google reviews are true and buy the membership even if it is average.

    OMG…
    1. Very difficult to get a parking during weekdays (after 6pm)
    2. Gym is over crowded
    3. Toilets are stinky

Note that I am neither a hater of any Gyms nor associated with any gym. I just want to start gym again to get in shape but disappointed and didn't buy the membership.

So if anyone looking to buy membership at Caroline Springs then my advise is to visit the Gym at the times you want to go and see how you go.

I find myself going back to anytime fitness in the near future. I like Derrimut but it's just too crowed even though I work out at 9am in the morning.

Filthiest, worst managed gym I've ever seen, easily. Cheap gyms attract the type of people you don't want anything to do with too.

You get what you pay for.

You mean those types that like bargains? There's a few of them around here too.

      • Pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Or in this case you get to exercise alongside them.

I've joined at Braybrook and it's clean, 95%+ of the machines are working, tons of parking as it's a small shopping centre, and haven't had to wait as we've been going between 10 - 2pm. They're opening a new site at Port Melbourne which will suit us as well. Very happy with the purchase.

  • Can someone explain this gym to me

I live near the Oakleigh one and the queues look so crazy - there are so many gyms nearby that are basically empty so you could be finished with your workout before you even get into the Oakleigh one?

    Whats the appeal lol

      Price

  • I enjoy getting my workout in at 5am. No complaints here.

  • They beat the price of all other gyms but other gyms don't care lol
