    red also same price

    apparently yellow indicates diesel?

  • Can I use a yellow fuel can for petrol?

    • +3

The fashion police will give you a fine.

    • Get the RED. Yellow is for diesel. It's only a colour, but if you are in an emergency, red indicates petrol, and yellow indicates diesel.

      • What about the green, blue, and black ones?

        • Blue is kerosene, Green might be 2 stroke mix, I think

  • Reviews suggest the lid is fragile and breaks easily

    • Anyone able to comment on the quality of these vs the Aldi ones?

  • +1

Any suggestions for a good quality water can? I don’t want any fancy stuff like attachable tap, just a proven, solid and sturdy canister.

    • How many L

      • oops, sorry, 10 or 20L

        • +2

you can buy a reusable 10L container of mineral water from Aldi for a few bucks

Proquip have a 22litre water Jerry. I believe they supply the Defence force, whatever that may indicate

Does it come with a hose for acquiring fuel?

  • Price Matching ALDI upcoming sale

  • Is there any benefit to using a metal one over a plastic one (for diesel)? Downsides being weight, rust etc?

    • +3

These look much more masculine when permanently attached to the back of your city-bound 4WD along with all your unused camping gear.

But honestly I only use the metal cans for the fire pump, they won't melt if it gets a bit toasty nearby. Still probably catch fire, but at least it'll still be in a vessel for a bit longer.

I lived off Jerry's for fuel for two years. There is no real difference in the short term.
There is a significant difference over the long term. I have seen the plastic ones swell to the point the middle appears to double in circumference. Then shrink as much as physically possible twelve hours later. You do keep more of the bang in petrol for longer if you keep in in metal.

      • That would be the vapour pressure no? In fact maybe a metal one has to vent more since it can't expand, so more would be lost?

        • What you said reads right. I'm going off the results of German army field and lab testing. It was a very enjoyable read. Sounds like you would enjoy it too.

As recommended by 7/10 tobacco shop arsonists …

  • Off topic, could we fill this at Costco? Any restrictions?

    • +2

You can't fill more than 20L at a time from Costco into this can

      • You can add more than 20litres of fuel to the can though…

  • Seems like obligatory accessory to have these strapped to your custom built rear swing gate holding your 35" M/T spare wheel. Can't forget the max trax on the roof racks, Kings awning, 9" spot lights and or LED light bar to complete the ultimate 4WD urban mall crawler package.
