Keen to know as well. The MSI one has no height adjustment kind of kills it for me, but I'm not sure if I wanted to spend another $70 extra for something so identical.
For users of average body dimensions the height adjustment on a 27-inch is kind of redundant. Definitely needed on a 24-inch however.
What I really need is a built in USB hub. I guess for the price, MSI is a better option, unless I spent the extra to go with the Dell 4k S2722QC recently promoted.
I contemplated exactly the same options. For something you stare at for hours on end everyday, the additional $70 is easily justifiable. Height adjustment, portrait mode, builtin speakers, stylish exterior, peace of mind are often underrated.
Although monitor stands are cheap too
This Dell on seems to bang on about having really good built in speakers if that’s important
Feel like that isn't important to anyone, if you need good sound you would get external speakers lol
Agreed haha.8
I also use VESA mounts so I dont think I will get anything out of the adjustable stands. Maybe MSI has the win here for saving `~$80 each
This Dell S2725DS has height adjustable stand that also does tilting, swiveling & pivoting compare to the fixed stand on the MSI (doesn't matter if you have a monitor arm though). The Dell also has more capable speakers at 5W each (vs 2W on MSI)
Not the best colour accuracy, just keep in mind if you work with colour.
So good for the colour blind?
How did you measure colour accuracy?
For a 27" monitor, I would go for a 4K resolution. The amount of real estate you get on screen is incredible.
I run 2 x 27"4K Dell monitors at home
You have to have darn good eyesight though.
Agreed.
If you've got a Mac that has excellent scaling, then the 4k is worthwhile. For Windows, if you plan on running at native resolution, then this 2560x1440 resolution is excellent without straining the eyes, and gives you a lot more usable space than a 1920x1080 monitor.
Yeah I have decent eyesight and at 1440p (100% scaling) I still need to zoom in sometimes.
Glasses? I wear glasses and no issues with dual 4K native on windows at 100% scaling.
Crtl + Scroll up for small text if you really need it.
But 27" 4K, the sharpness is incredible. It's like phone dpi but bigger screen.
It's incredible for large Excel sheets, general multitasking. If you spend a lot of time behind a screen, it's definitely worth it. And definitely worth getting eye checked and corrected for it
I have to disagree with this for most users at least for windows. 4k at 1080p at 100% scaling is rough. I DO have glasses, and even with them correcting, it's too small. Are you 15cm from the screen?
4k at 27" on my mac looks great due to the way mac handles scaling though it doesnt technically fall within perfect scaling ranges. For windows I much prefer a native 1440p on 27". I think 32" 4K is the sweet spot for 4k. 27 is perfect for 1440p, 22-24 1080p etc.
@ReaperX22: What is 4K at 1080p at 100% scaling?
Nope, I'm around 50-60cm from screen. Just got home and found my comfy slot looking a spreadsheets, online documents, pdf.
@azngamer: Sorry ignore the 1080p bit.
But eh each to their own. You're the first person I know that likes 27 inch 4k 100% scaling. You do you!
@ReaperX22: Agree to disagree
How is 100Hz for gaming? Already have a 4K 60Hz Dell.
100Hz is a nice jump from 60Hz. Should be a good upgrade.
I changed my monitor from 32 inch 4K 60hz to 32 inch 1440p 165hz for around 1.5 years.
4k to 1440p in gaming is noticeable but 1440p still pretty good.
60hz to 120hz+ is huge improvement, even 100hz still big improvement. But buying a new gaming monitor, I will get at least 144hz.
Bought two of these from the last deal for home office. Great for the price and nice to get them under $300 for tax deduction :)
But you've got the receipt so no reason to be under $300 for tax deduction?
Instant deduction vs Depreciation schedule
Instant deduction - saves having to only deduct depreciation and tracking it for multiple years
"You can't claim a deduction for the cost of the item if it is part of a set that cost more than $300, or is identical or substantially identical to similar items that together cost more than $300. In this case you claim a deduction for the decline in value of the items." Per ATO
I am no accountant, but my interpretation of this would be that two monitors being used in a dual screen setup would need to be counted together and thus in this case (>$300), be depreciated on your tax return.
I think you're right. Damn, that's unfortunate :/
Could always buy them both in different financial years!
I have a S2721DS and a S2722QC. The color on the S2721DS is OK but from 2022 models onwards, Dell get rid of the comfortview preset mode. So the S2722QC has a purple and blueish hue. So buying this kind of uncalibrated S series monitors need a bit of luck.
I got this one and have it paired with a S2721DS. I miss the comfort view setting. Otherwise it's fine for work and gaming where FPS isnt a big issue. Civ, WOWS etc
Selling a dell 27inch like this but 4k with USB c if anyone wants
How much?
S2722QC
250
That HP 27 QHD 165 hz omen is back for those that’s interesting in paying $2 more.
If you're considering this screen, you should not use it for anything other than productivity purposes. I bought last week's Dell S2722QC (2k vs 4k is the only practical difference) deal for $310, which I was extremely satistfied with both in terms of price and performance. I would highly suggest 4k instead of 2k for work. I do academic research and I pull papers on S2722QC (90 degress vertical) and it's such a joy reading stuff on a 4k monitor.
I use MacBook Pro M3 for work, and scaling is not an issue at all. I use scaled 2k on the 4k S2722QC, and this resolution is the '4k version of 2k' which is different from actual 2k (if you're confused just watch a YouTube video and it should ease your mind). Texts are sharp and clear, and sizes are pretty big for me to see from around 50 cm away.
If you plan to game on it, don't buy it - anything below 144hz is not recommended for gaming these days.
Can you daisy chain these?
Got two 27" dells at work unfortunately couldn't days chain them so frustratingly have to plug HDMI into my laptop each day instead of using dp in dock..
How does this compare to the MSI 27” deal posted earlier in the week?
Seems very similar spec but assume Dell build quality is higher
