          8-10c per point redemption value seems expensive?

          Also using QFF points for non-QF metal usually is better value because less co-pay of taxes and fees (except Emirates)

      Your highly unlikely to get great deals then as it's a pretty desirable time to travel, given it's school hols/sakura blossom season

        It's also the great Easter/ANZAC Day arc. JAL has posted some deals around that time, but probably better to wait until October/November for deals.

      You can get up to a 23:59 layover in Hong Kong on the same ticket (sort by duration and scroll down to the ~36h options). Means your checked luggage goes through and you have a (albeit exhausting) day in Honk Kong. Have used this for a quick Disneyland day in the past.

    Trying to find one way flights from Japan to Bris or Cairns (cruising to Japan) for March, seem to be about the same price as getting a return from Oz, would this be right? Thankyou

    total flight time to japan is around 9-11 hours depending on where you fly from, these cheap flights are duration of around 21hrs in some cases with long stopovers, i would consider if that is a dealbreaker and worth paying to avoid

      Try search using the Multi-city option.
      Can also consider open-jaw, eg. Australia->HK for a few nights->Japan city A (e.g. Tokyo), then Japan city B (e.g. Nagoya)->transfer in HK->Australia.
      Even with the 2 Japanese cities, trying looking at entering Japan from city A and leaving Japan from city B, then look at entering Japan from city B and leaving Japan from city A and see which one works out better (cheaper).
