  • Anyone get their points from last offer

  • They sure did nerf it. But still a decent deal.

I do need to book hotels for an upcoming holiday. However the same hotels are a LOT cheaper on Agoda.

What's the advantage of booking on Qantas?
    Bonus points?

If you spend $1,000 on hotels, you get 9,000 QFF points (worth $90, roughly)
Or you could book on Agoda/Expedia/Booking.com/Hotels.com for their loyalty rewards PLUS 10-14% cashback..

With Points Club Plus status I earn 13.5x points during these offers. Redeemed on business and first class flights, those points can can be "worth" a lot more than than just 1 cent each. Booking through Qantas Hotels also gives me a chance to use some of the vouchers I receive from Points Club and other Qantas promotions.

        Thanks, makes sense!

    • Or you can find the best price on those travel agent websites then call the hotel and ask them to beat it or give you a free upgrade and you’ll be surprised how often they want to avoid the 30% commission

      • +3

True, but tried to ask for a better deal in the past and the small (regional hotels) in Australia direct invoiced me $1 less than the travel agent websites.. so not much of a deal when you get cashback etc.

        • Only worth price matching if you have a status with a bigger chain and get free breakfast etc.

  • I tried to book a hotel on Qantas website, and got blocked by their system. Anyone has any idea to fix it? Even customer service reps had no idea how to deal with it.

    • +1

Try using a vpn or a private browser

  • First time booking - does the bonus points show anywhere? When I look at my booking it only shows at about a 2.25 rate per $1 spent?

    • Someone above said about 6 weeks after their stay.

  • Booked on the 18th lucky me

    • I feel your pain mate! $1500 non-refundable booking at 1152pm for me.

    • +3

Before you book via Qantas Hotels, always check freepoints.com.au to see if there are any up and coming deals. ^^^ this promo was listed on the 15th August for example.

      • Thanks for the tip, much appreciated!

I found hotels are usually cheaper not going through Qantas, so your really paying for the points

    • +1

      Use it for biz travel

Just be mindful if you have status for Accor ALL, Hilton or any other chain, you won’t receive the status benefits booking through Qantas Hotels even though they have a ‘partnership’.

You need to book direct to receive status benefits.

    • +2

As with all other 3rd party booking services.

The deal is nice, but the problem with Qantas is booking through them is more expensive than just about any other site on the web. So doesn't work out well. the only time I use is when I also have the $50 or $100 hotel discount vouchers with them as well to make it worth while.

Qantas hotels are absolutely hot garbage.

During the last offer, they cancelled my reservations without informing me via email.

They refuse to refund me my paid credit card amounts and force me to raise disputes with the credit card company.

Is this the way one of the most recognised brands in Australia should act?

Stay well away from Qantas hotels

  • Did Qantas Hotels stop issuing invoices for international bookings?

  • just had my hotel reservation canceled, and there was no compensation offered whatsoever. Avoid this service.
