All flavours are naturally sweetened. We have transitioned over to thaumatin for the fact that it is an all natural plant based sweetener, a superior flavour profile, a neutral insulin impact (as it is a protein) and being very gentle on the gut. Category **Description **
STRAIGHT Unflavoured and optimised for macronutrients (90% protein). Due to omitting flavours and any sweetener, this is just straight WPI from the manufacturer (less than 1% sunflower lecithin added at the point of manufacture). Use in cookies, smoothies etc. Or if you just want the best macros and don't care for taste!
CORE These flavours have between 75-87% protein. They will also be low in fat (0.3-0.8g/serve) and also low in carbs (1-3.7g/serve). As a general guide, suitable if you have strict dietary restrictions and want to keep the carbs/fat down, but want something more exciting than unflavoured.
INDULGE These flavours will have 64-68% protein with a higher serving size. Notably, carbs will be a bit higher in these flavours (6.8-9.9g/serve) and the cookie flavours will have around 1g extra fat/serve - which contributes to an extra 20-30 calories per serve. This extra latitude with macros and ingredients allows us to elevate the flavour to be what we consider amazing, while not being a complete cheat meal. Given the popularity of Aussie Choc Malt, we're experimenting with a few others in this category and have recently released our two new cookie flavours.

In almost all of our prior WPI deals, I have been asked how our WPI compares to two other very popular products on OzBargain that we sell (Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey and Musashi 100% Whey).

Whey Protein Prices in 2024

Whey pricing is something I have been making mention of in our prior posts, more as a heads up about a possible increase in retail prices. Anyway, we have now seen this transpire across several brands.

In summary, prices have gone up at the supplier level over nine months ago and we have now seen price increases across the board. We did raise our prices in July as a result of this.

Full transparency; this deal has also increased because we can no longer sustain the lower price point. It’s up by $2.50/kg (for 4kg, same credit) and we have kept the optional 5th kg at the same price but with reduced credit. This is the first price increase we’ve had on these deals since the end of 2022. Despite this, I do hope that this continues to represent great value.

    Placing an order for WPI but checking out pricing of other products as anew customer and noticed adding 5kg of WPC multi flavour doesn't give me the option to select flavours and just adds to cart with no selections, I am not actually ordering WPC so it is not affecting my order.

    Just curious if the formula has changed for the strawberry flavor; it seems to clump, and no matter what I do, I can't get it to mix properly, even in lukewarm water. It's the batch with the red zipper; all the previous strawberry batches were fine.

    I have 2 kgs left with best before Nov 24. Opened one bag, but smell of powder is a bit off. Not what I used 2 kgs last year.
    Do these go off? Should I discard these bags as I can't consume with that off taste?

      As long as they have been stored in a cool and dry place, the powders should be good until their best before date. That said, if you have noticed the smell to be off, we'll be happy to send out a new bag at our cost. I would recommend to discard that product (we won't require it back given that it is quite old now and will be an older formulation).

      @Crazyziano we have indeed. Actually we previously had a mango flavour when we were using stevia, but discontinued it because we transitioned over to thaumatin instead as a natural sweetener without the bitter aftertaste of stevia.

      You're not alone in terms of requesting a mango flavour as it is one of our top requested flavours to return. We have been working on this and while we don't yet have something good enough to re-release, we are getting close. We are hopeful to have a mango option in our range in the foreseeable future, but that will ultimately depend on when we get our formulation 100% ready.

      This product alone will not. If you're looking to gain weight, you will need to take a look at your exercise and dietary habits and look to develop a caloric surplus.

      WPI in itself is not a very high calorie food. It's low in carbs and fats and high in protein. While it may help with recovery after a workout (which is a common use case), I would primarily be looking towards consuming more calories from healthy food sources. Once you have a healthy and well-rounded diet in place, if you're still unable to gain weight, you may wish to consider a weight gainer product as a supplement to help boost your caloric intake (eg. this is ours)

      I understand this is very broad feedback, but your specific requirements will be very dependent on your individual needs (lifestyle, exercise, specific body requirements etc), so I can't exactly get prescriptive here and would recommend seeking professional advice and doing your own research to better understand what would be necessary for you here. I do however hope that this can be of some assistance, at least as a high-level starting point.

        WPI in itself is not a very high calorie food

        I'm a little curious about this as your offerings per 100g are between 374.8 to 390.8 cal, while your gainers are 374.6 to 379.5 cal

        While I understand the ratios of macros are quite different, the stand out difference simply seems to be the serving sizes for the gainers being much larger.

        So I could simply have ~4 servings of your WPI and hit similar calories (depending on flavour).

        Is it an unfavourable idea to be having such high ratios of protein/is there a notable advantage to having a higher ratio of carbs for gaining weight?

        Could you speak to this? I'm mostly curious due to the much more broad and appealing range of flavours for WPI (especially noting the couple with caffeine to boot!)

        PS how are your products in terms of lactose intolerant individuals and those with sensitives to FODMAP foods?

          Hi @ilu

          So perhaps I didn't word that in the best way possible. You're right in terms of the calories per 100g and it will ultimately boil down to the serving sizes.

          Weight gainers will typically have a much lower percentage of protein. For example, ours are 36-39% protein. Those other calories are contributed primarily from additional carbs and a bit from the MCT's added in.

          Technically yes, you could opt for around 4 servings of WPI, but then you would be consuming around 100g of protein in a single hit, which is likely going to be excessive. I'm unsure as to why there would be the need to consume 100g of protein in a single hit. So to your point, yes, a gainer will offer a more favourable macronutrient ratio for someone who wants the additional calories.

          That said, WPI is a key ingredient in our gainer and you can effectively create your own version if you did want to use WPI for convenience. For example, you can mix in WPI, oats, LSA/nuts/nut butter. The protein can of course be sourced from whole foods too, this is just an example using WPI.

          In terms of lactose in our products, our WPI is a milk derived product and will contain up to 1.2% lactose, which will equate to around 0.4g per serve. If you cannot tolerate any lactose, I would advise to avoid this product and instead consider a lactose-free option such as our Vegan Protein.

          In terms of FODMAP foods, whey itself is a milk derived product with some lactose as mentioned, but as WPI does have a relatively low amount of lactose, my understanding is that it is considered low FODMAP. I would be considering the two new cookie flavours as they will contain some cookie crumbs in them.

      We've been trying to lean into a really unique and extensive flavour range that provides a healthier option to the real thing (ie. without all the refined sugars and fat of an equivalent milkshake for example). So ultimately that's how we've been trying to differentiate our offering and we have been blessed with the feedback we receive.     Loved seeing another amino z whey deal on my feed.
    I’ve ordered 5kg on all the previous promotions too.

    I’ve tried a few flavours and my favourite is definitely indulgent white choclate. The others have all been great too. Little disappointed with the Aussie choc malt, had 1 scoop of it and never had it again. Most people here seems to love it though, might just be me 🤷‍♂️

    Ordered some melon milk this time as it seems to be popular, looking forward to it!

    I would like to ask if you plan on ever doing a deal like this in the future with increased quantity?

    I see the bonus z points are always capped at 5kg. I’d be happy ordering 10-20kg at a time as I go through them pretty quickly 😅

      @Poor Ass no not necessarily. They are often used after exercise, but also as lower calorie/healthier options to high calorie foods (eg. a chocolate milkshake). A lot of people will also use a protein powder if they are deficient in their typical protein intake (for example, this can be the case if your diet is primarily plant based/vegetarian).

          @EnALup it will likely be in 3-4 months as our team just tried the final prototype last week and we unanimously agreed it was a notable improvement on the current version. The new version is much closer to a strawberry milkshake.

          We will still be producing the current version for now as there is a very long lead time to order in the updated flavouring and then to actually produce it.
