It’s part of father’s day’s promotion up to 33%. Several other Ring camera products are discounted but mainly wired models.

Chose this model over others because it has battery and solar panel. That’s good bargain for my needs.

  • Ring Spotlight Pro Solar $269

Does it require a subscription ?

    • Not an expert in this area but I subscribed the top tier plan, $150 a year. With my limited knowledge, it works but it loses a lot of key features I need.

      Plan details: https://ring.com/au/en/protect-plans?srsltid=AfmBOorcDZ1u2v4…

Discussions about without plan (pretty negative): https://www.reddit.com/r/Ring/s/iuI3bVor15

    • No - it still works without a subscription.

However there's no access to the devices once out of your wi-fi's range, and no saved data. We have 2 Ring devices, and they're fine for our intended purpose.

$99 for the battery cam spotlight (Aldi deal earlier this year), and $169 for the floodlight during an Amazon deal.

However there's no access to the devices once out of your wi-fi's range

Which makes it pretty much useless, so get a Reolink… I could access all my cameras whilst overseas and have about a week's worth of backup footage and there is no subscription fee.

  • monthly subscription of $4.95 after a 30 days trial period.

A security camera that you purchase to own and still requires a sub to do its intended job. Utter bonkers.

Just get a Reolink, no subscription necessary.

      • Does your Reolink system include a floodlight with a sensor? Otherwise it's a useless comparison.

Does your Reolink system include a floodlight with a sensor?

          Yes

    • I hear ya. FYI. What you quoted is just for 1 device. It goes up to $15pm for all devices. I don’t wanna pay it too but it does bring good value for my needs.

sub to do its intended job

What was the intended job you after? cloud access? Name me a product which gives free cloud access?

      • -2

        Google it

        • -3

Google not going to magically give free cloud subscription for security cameras similer to above.
Plus Reolink also need subscription, if you need to use the cloud service.

      • Name me a product which gives free cloud access?

I access my Reolink over the cloud for free…

        • I was refering to cloud storage, https://cloud.reolink.com/ ofcouse ring and google home and access it for free too without subscription.

@boomramada: I can access my security footage over the cloud for free

  • I have about 15 cameras on it, have done for years so for my use case $150 a year is cheap.

      $150 a year is cheap.

      $0 a year is cheaper.
